kironagi So whats wrong with reading Harry Potter? Its meant to be a entertaining literature for the general public, right? Oh, to certain people they included they include "evil themes, witchcraft, demonic activity, murder, evil blood sacrifice, spells and teaching children all of this." (and this is a direct quote from a lady trying to ban Harry Potter in her children's school district) Even though she hasn't read any of the books because they're "too long." Even funnier, she says that The Chronicles of Narnia would be a better alternative. It's mind boggling because the same things happen in Narnia in almost the same basic situations....

Ok so here's my spin on the whole thing: Proven history:When people began writing the gospels an uprising in Rome was causing the two religious groups (christian & pagan) to meet head on. The main ruler was pagan but did not want to be dethroned by the majority of christians. So, in order to create the new testament Pagan and Christian rulers had a major gathering to decide which gospels to allow in and which ones to toss. Just recently an archeological dig found paprys scrolls titled "The Gospel of Judas" Now in this gospel it was told that Jesus had come to Judas and asked him to betray him so that the world might be saved. So instead of being evil and betraying Jesus for money, Judas was portrayed as merciful and self-sacrificing. Moral: People are full of shiz and always will be. God is God but the church is bunk. God loves everyone- unconditionally. I learned all this from National Geographic channel. I heart that channel!!

Actually, harking back to the days when Europe was on a rampage, trying to find "witches", the Church decided to screw around with the Bible. One passage that I know for certain that was changed was, "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." IT was originally, "Thou shalt not suffer a prisoner to live." Differnet? Ohh you betcha.
But anyway, the whole "man shall not lie with man and woman shall not lie with woman" could have been changed to. Plus, if anyone knows their history well, they'll know that homosexuality was practiced, mostly in Ancient Greece and Rome. So, the people that saw this, the Jews (since Catholics weren't around obviously when the Old Testament was made), decided to enter that in as a extra. Besides, if the Catholics, Baptists, Fundamentalists, etc etc...were to say that "its in the Bible" tell them, (mainly if they are female), that "fathers can sell their daughters then?" They'll have their eyes hanging out of their sockets, believe you me. It is there...Exodus 22:7. If they don't believe you that its in there, tell them to look at up.
Yeah, I am Catholic but, it influences my sexuality not one tiny itty little bit.

Ok, I can go on forever on this little topic, but I'll just say a few things
1: The Bible was made by men putting story together that sounded like they "came from God"
2: The Bible have beeen changed, or how Christens like to say "been upgrated"(sp?)
3: The Christen well fight ANYTHING that they think is wrong, even if its not rteally
4: They're going again the Bible when they do things"gays are wrong" thing. The Bible says to love thy man. But they don't. Have you seen a Christen that will say "I love you man" to a gay?
5:They hate other faiths. Like Wicca. There's nothing wrong with Wicca, but if you say anything to a Christen about it, they'll think a)you beleive in Satan b)you're a witch or c) there's something worng with you.
And I'm going to stop there, 'casue I'll just keep on going. But all in all I hate Christen. I hate how they think they's perfect and that they're right. God!!

Way to go, no ignorance or prejudice right there. You even misspelled "Christian." All Christians aren't intolerant, evil haters of all and everything (even though you can certainly get that idea by watching the affairs of the Christian right in the US). Although you're right in a sense on #1 and #2, and while #3 can be argued on for a bit (which I don't really have the energy for here at 4:50AM) it's utterly ignorant to assume that ALL Christians hate homosexuals and that ALL Christians despise every faith other than the Christian one. Most Christians I've met personally over the years certainly stand as living proofs that there are a lot of good people amongst their ranks as well.

Thats ture. I can see that. But for me, this is how Christian see me and this is how I see them. I have to much bad feelings with this religion to give it(and people in it) any good thoughts. Now I know I shouldn't look at others with hate in my eyes, but this is just how it is. And thank you for pointing out the miss-spelled of "Christian". I'm really bad at spelling sweatdrop

At least you try to spell right, which is more than what can be said for most people on the Internet. If you've really had that bad experiences with Christians I guess there's nothing I can do to change that. While I disagree with what you say, I certainly know that feeling of yours. Just hope things'll be patched up sooner or later, because you can't go through life hating entire communities.

Oh, yessss. I went to Christian school for the past two years (not now, though! Public school! Yes! Yes! Yes! *does victory dance*) and it was torture being stuck in classrooms all day with a bunch of Evangelist, hompohobic, pro-Bush students and teachers. The agony! gonk Complaints aside, I see your point. (And it drives me nuts when somebody in some educational video uses the word "gay" with the definition of "happy" and the entire class bursts out into peals of laughter! stressed Bloomin' idiots, the lot of 'em!)

stardancer Moral: People are full of shiz and always will be. God is God but the church is bunk. God loves everyone- unconditionally. I really like that statement, since it more or less sums up my views on the matter. heart I'm bi, but I'm very religious too, so it annoys me when I see all the intolerant hypocritical Christians because it makes me and my religion look bad. :/ So yeah, I don't think it's fair to blame the entire religion. Blame the stupid people for being hateful and making up bullshit excuses like "it's what God wants". Like hell they know.

In all aspects of truth I must say that christians are some of the best people I have ever met in my life, and me myself have never had there beliefs 'forced' on me. I also am a lover of history and actually have never once read that it was the christians who didn't want what you listed to go on. If I remember correctly it was always the public who all just happened to be christian at that time because those who were gay were closeted. So do not try to twist our history around into something that it's not and take it as it is.
Naturally, were going to put them onto the defensive side because we are pushing what they believe out and pushing our belifes in. They too should have a right to believe what they want to. When someone goes against your belifes it obviously ticks you off, well, it does the same for them. If your having that much of a difficult time with them then just say "I'd rather not talk about it." instead of pushing the matter further to a boiling point. If you didn't notice that's another reason to why our country is beging to fall. Case and point.

I know that not all Christian's are like that, but it always bugs me when I meet a homophobic Christian who rants on about how gay people are disgusting and should burn in hell *cough*BrianRoach*cough* Now I, am not Christian. I'm an Atheist. Always have been, and I'm not against Christian. But when someone starts preaching that 'God created man to love woman and woman to love man' so 'Gays were not right and deserve to die' I get flaming pissed. Because, hello? If God created everyone on earth, than he must have created gays too!
Sorry, went off on a rant there... ^^;

And theres something we must know from history, the bible has been redone and rewritten a very number of timees sense it came to be, so much of the orginal content has been miss done or miss worded. Which is what also is brought up a lot it seems. But if we want thing to change, we can not go around hateing everyone for haveing their own minds, knowlge is the key to understanding
