reagun ban Kuroiban Yes. Haven't claimed otherwise. True, however, I find it a tad innappropriate for gaijin to comment on Japanese cultural groups in exactly the same way it irritates the hell out of me when non-Celts do it with the Celts.
I'm argueing that if, when pulling from and utilizing Bushido as a frame work for morale guidence in certain areas, ritualstic sucide might not be suitable or even need. The culture I live in is quite different from fudel Japan, and nothing everything can make a sensiable transition. That was what I was talking about. What I DIDN'T say was that the practice was completely rediculous in the social, philosophical, and theological manor, even when taking into account the society and time period that spawned it.
I didn't make a statement on the entirity of culture and history of Japan. Further, considering the practice of ritualistic self slaughter was illegalized not once but twice, I think declaring it "uneeded" isn't nesscerily out of place.
I can understand where you are coming from; a read a thread in here (don't remember which one) where you explained away some of the myths of Druidism and such, and were told off by someone who knows absolutely nothing about your culture. I can see how that would cause a sore spot.
However, my comment had nothing to do with me rewriting and recalibrating Japanese culture to fit into my little box.

In that case, why do we have sociologists and anthropologists? I think it is fair to say that the context of gaijin and the "non-Celts" is what is at issue.
Educated observations and dedication to study is not the same as passing interest that targets something that has lost cultural context.

Kuroiban TeaDidikai Heck no, I don't think it's bad. Draw enlightenment from where you can within the bounds of ethical behavior. I don't care if you find your code of conduct in a can of spegetti-os. eek I TOTALLY want to see someone do that.
You asked for it.

I think I'm in pain...
I'm not sure if that was funny or frightening.
Probably both.

TeaDidikai Kuroiban I think I'm in pain... I'm not sure if that was funny or frightening. Probably both. Say that a little louder. The Irish head of the Pastafarian Church would love to speak with you, I'm sure. Considering the browbeating I avoided giving him for the "Bushido 2" comment, I think you can all imagine what's going to happen if he doesn't apologise for that.
