Ironic, that someone who had spent their entire life struggling to demean others. Would just roll over and die. Regardless, the beast known as Merlin would take daunting steps forward until he hovered over the mans body. He paused, eyes taking in the sight. Nose breathing in the scent of blood and venom. Along with whatever nasty bile had managed to clamor its way into the mans bloodstream. All of that cholesterol, definitely not a balanced diet. He would stare to his clawed fingers, and with a fell swoop would his hand come crashing down towards the felled opponent. Frozen. His hand would halt in its motion. He would blink once, and his red eyes would turn to blue. A serenity only known by the Ocean coursing over them. He would stare blankly at the back of his hand, and then beyond to the sight of a bloodied man.

"Wha ..." Flickers of images past had drawn into his mind. His eyes would tear up, but he hadn't felt especially bad about them. Simply, he had broken his promise already. He wasn't someone whom could keep it, not to Simba. Perhaps the man knew that, perhaps it was why he had gone away. "No." He flexed his fingers several times before they would obey his commands. Pulling itself away from Wolfnod and coming to rest at his side. His boots were slick with crimson, and yet his sloshes brought him no discomfort. Merlin would crouch beside the man, the tears a bit more prominent now, but he was used to saltwater. The things didn't sting him like it would some others. "I'm sorree duder, I dunno why I did dis." He didn't look at Wolf nod, rather beyond him to the scenery of the home. more specifically, a mirror that showed the people settled in behind him. Terrified of the monster that had swallowed their fellow advocates. As well, terrified of the monstrosity the tiny marine had proven himself to be. he dared not turn to face them.

"If ya survive, I'll let ya find all the new leaves ya want yea ... And y'can turn them all day y'know." The burning sensation on the bridge of his nose became a burden to his eyes. How could he have let Simba down like this, what exactly was wrong with him. "Jusdundie." Merlin would grasp the man by his right arm and hoist him up. if he was strong enough to manage just leaning on the tiniest Marine. No less, Merlin was sure he could carry the lot of the man's weight. "Don't die." He would turn to face the people who scattered at his gaze, however soft or hard did not matter. A monster was a monster, there was no use in trying to supply one with the visage of good. Little did he know, they just didn't want to be in his way. There were several who understood their fear was out of respect. That the Marines needed equivalent levels of power to best Pirates. Still, he would not be able to discern this. Instead, he would walk the man known as Wolfnod towards the docks, where he could attach their lone man boats and drift off into the blues. "Hang on ..."

Ah yes, the village of peace. A quaintly prosperous land where animals grazed in the fields and children played in the streets. A land that hadn't been attacked in years due to its remote location. The people here lived life without worry whilst basking in the light.

But it was their own shadows that they should fear, for the darkness was coming for them.

A single boat drifted afloat accompanied by another. Shadowy silhouettes stood atop each boat before coming into view amidst the dusk. Aboard one of the boats was a rather tall, lean but curvaceous woman. She was clad fashionably in warm clothing, somewhat inappropriate for the warm season. She had long golden tresses and a black patch over her right eye. A hand was buried deep within her pocket while the other held a stolen, antique stop watch. Her gaze was cast on it, that one good eye focusing on the hands of the device.

Goldilocks figured that if they were going to island hop then they may as well make a game out of it. A bit of a trial run to prepare for the Grand Line.

"Alright mate. Let's make it fun. One full round around South Blue. Take whatcha need from one island, hit the next till we hit them all. Try tah make it as fast as possible. Hit them fast. Hit them hard. We ain't tryin' tah blow s**t sky high. Draws too much attention. We get in, get out, and make like bandits in the night. Sound good?"

Not everything was about punching people's faces in, unleashing Hell on earth, and destroying anything in their path when it came to being a pirate. Sometimes it was best to be covert. Pirates didn't always have to go around harming innocents in order to take what they wanted. The woman, in most definitions of the word, considered herself ruthless; but only when she needed to be or wanted to be, not because she thought every situation called for cruelty. Besides, it was a lot more fun giving herself a handicap.

Immediately upon coming to shore the surrounding land would be encompassed by a thick darkness that slowly stretched across the land like a plague. It filled the air and dimmed all around it in a heavy layer of black. The bog made it easier for the blonde to move. As it radiated from her she was busy waltzing about as the ordinary citizens just seemed to stop what they were doing and look on with bewildered puzzlement. The amazonian tried to keep her steps mute and through the darkness she'd invade the homes of the innocent, careful to not alert anyone inside. With any open crevice, her darkness invaded, hindering their vision. And with anyone that did spot her she wouldn't beat them down. No, she'd merely restrain them. Tie them up with rope, shove a sock in their mouths so they couldn't yell out for help, loot what caught her eye, then go on her merry way.

Unfortunately, there wasn't too much to be had here that was of any real value. This was more of a country land so at least they could raid some fresh produce. Perhaps snatch up a few cows and chickens for later. Sacks of rice, crates of fruits and vegetables. From an economic standpoint it was quite a nice haul. Besides, Summer was coming so that meant new crops were going to come in anyhow, so she was sure the people here could afford to replace and regrow what was being stolen here.

After loading her boat with the goods the darkness that once washed over the island had retreated back to its originator. It wasn't a bad haul and the crew would have food supplies for a good while, so with that Goldy took her leave; they were on a time limit after all.

                                                  {Exit.}

[ The last haul was quite the catch. Goods, decent foods, and materials they can use to keep things kosher and in order for quite a bit of time. Frankly, with just that raid alone, the group had a very plentiful bundle of resources. Guess those people really were the generous type. Galand sits on his boat with one knee propped up and the same side arm resting over it. He watches the island as the group approaches the next island, feelings a tinge of doubt in his chest. He can’t put his finger on it, the way to properly get stronger that is. Sure, he could run off to some remote island somewhere in the sticks and train himself up, but that wouldn’t do him any good, time wise. And he’d be damned if he let go of these skilled people he’s managed to run across so far. With a sigh, he looks down at his left hand before clenching it. “I need more…” he speaks out to no one in particular.

His contemplation carries on until the group makes land, and steps off of the vessels where Goldi stops him to make banter. His attention is turned to her while she goes on about having fun, a word that specifically gets him to focus up. “...Aye, ye might be right about having fun. Minds been clouded since dealing with that Dekura b*****d. This might be what I need to take my mind offa things.” he says while placing his hands on his hips and giving his partner a smirk. “Alright, lass. Ya got yourself a deal. No rampaging. In and out, quicker ‘n lightnin’.” He lets out a light chuckle as the two go their separate ways, walking over in the opposite direction from Goldilocks as she releases that black miasma stuff of hers. As he looks over his shoulder at it, a chill runs up the man’s spine, since as he puts it, that stuff gives him the heeby jeebies even ‘till this day.

After finding himself closer to the more crowded side of the village, Galand finds the most off the wall alleyway with a few shady individuals lingering about. He walks in, alerting those inside to his presence. His large stature and ominous smile gives them the creeps, making them think he may be a threat. But, he breaks those thoughts with a simple, “Oi, what’s up, kids.” He stands before them, analyzing each of the five teenagers carefully, but quickly. All of them have weapons. Poles or knives by their sides, and a few bricks and stones littered about. Nothing he can’t handle. With that in mind, he drops down into a crossed legged sit. “I got a proposition for ye, lads. You do this for me, and I do somethin’ for you.” He starts. The boys look at each other in confusion, clearly having doubts, but the most obvious bravest of the group speaks up. Albeit after stumbling over his words a bit. “Wh-What do you want?” Galand’s face immediately goes into a confident smirk.

With one motion, he grabs a sack from behind his back and drops it on the ground before him. A large sack full to the brim with beli. Obviously much more than these boys are used to, considering the way they immediately rushed close to look it all over. “Holy cra- H-How much is this?! I’ve never seen so much beli in one place, dude!” Galand claps his hands together to get back their attention before pushing the sack ever slightly closer to them in order to entice them further. “You grab me as much produce and material as you can muster in twenty minutes, and I’ll give you TWO of these.” The boys all stare at him in awe, not knowing the true value of how much beli it is, being only a here 5,000. In a fumble, they agree and rush to do as told. “Bring the stuff to the ship docked off to the side of the island. I’ll be waitin’ lads.” He says before standing up and walking out the alleyway, making sure no attention had been drawn to him. After a bit of casual browsing, he passes by a food stall with apples and mango shaped fruits sitting properly in order.

He grabs hold of one and tosses a coin to the stall attendant. “Easy.” In just the right amount of time, he finds sacks upon sacks of goods and fresh produce set under a tree a bit from his ship. He smiles while lifting them all and loading up before sailing off again. "On to the next then." ]

Gully entered the south with the signature supply ship in close pursuit, his ever growing group of rag tag marines seemingly fuller than ever. He wasted no time in docking at port and helping the supply ship remove all the necessary rations and furnishings the navy had to offer this area. The stock was beginning to get low, however Gully had been told this supply ship carried enough inside of it to reimburse every area he and the now large group of marines had been tasked with taking care of. He began carrying heavy furnishings to each individual house as he had done many times before, doing considerably less work this time given the fact that his group now had four other members to give him a hand in helping the poor villagers of Bancho with their belongings and overall sadness after the raid that had struck them, they had been a hot spot for raids recently, it was a sorry sight indeed. "Try to make quick work of this everyone, we've got more stops after this and the supply ship is still half full." he hurried his companions along, wanting to get as many people the necessities they needed before nightfall. The group had been working tirelessly to achieve this thus far but he couldn't help but push them further. He wanted to finish the restorations and reimbursements needed so he could focus his full attention on putting some of the criminals that did this sort of thing behind bars. Gully didn't exactly feel like the work he was doing right now was really something that someone of his skill set should be working on, he was more the type to beat things to a pulp not rebuild and reassure.

She went directly for the dried and preserved meat. She scoffed at it a bit before running from the supply ship. Following behind wherever Gully led and giving out equal rations. The box she carried now was a bit larger than the last, she had been doing this for a bit now. She was bound to gain some kind of muscular strength from it. She flexed at the empty box and turned to face a shop. She would peek inside and walk in to see the sales man in turmoil. "What's wrong?" She inquired before looking to a large sign that had fallen. She dusted her gloved hands together and would bend down to try and move the sign. Slowly, slowly it was moving. Inching, budging. Boom. Nope, it was right back where it started. She took in a heavy huff of air. She wouldn't have been able to even tickle that thing before. She waved over the salesman and together they were able to inch toe sign into a roll until it was out of the way. Behind the sign was a stash of. Food? "Is this for the town?" She spoke, smiling. And scene. Fade. She would gather a few straggling Marines to come and get the stash. She herself would probably look for Gully again. It was kind of nice lingering around the big guy. Upon finding him she would hop in her boat, being sure to keep as close to his boat as possible. He certainly was quick about it. She wondered if he knew about the missing vegetables. Dangit, someone will probably need those later on. "Tater Possums!" She would exclaim.

                                                                        Bancho Reimbursement [291/250] [/EXIT]

-------- This was a rapidly growing group of marines. She had Juusa and now she was talking with a blue haired child. She had much to learn as there were many ways to deal with people. It seemed that they were bringing food and vegetables to this place. Had someone taken all the food? She could understand it, but she carried a bag of wheat and a bag of carrots to the town. They had been raided, that was terrible. She passed through, delivering her drop off to the town people. She had to ask, wondering if maybe, just maybe the people had seen her reason for existing. "Have you seen---" She started, but the people did not care. They wanted their food and shoved her off when she asked anything. It was odd, they were just drop offs, nothing more but to carry what the people needed and protect. She found that odd, not being able to get a personal question answered. Maybe she would get to understand what was done. She shrugged, going off to the ship to receive some cabbages and turnips. She would just have to do this for now. She wondered how long before her question was asked, before she could find what she needed. She dragged her bags of items to the people and waved them off as she gathered the things she needed. They had done their job for now, but this...This was concerning to her. Maybe she needed something else to do. She would find her brother somewhere else.

[ In his confusion, Yami found himself assisting the newly arrived officer in moving stones. He couldn’t wrap his head around the human mind in the end. Before, it was clear that what they wanted to compensation for the things that they had lost. Material things had, up until that point, been the go to thing. But the man back in Kano was strange. No matter how much he was offered, he only leaked fluids and showed signs of anguish. The ‘pulse’ of positivism had been all but lost to him. Knowing not what to do, Yami could only leave the island with the others. Still, that was all in the past. Here, in this new island, his old analysis had come back into full effect. He offers goods, and the people pulse gratefully. Even now, as he crouches atop building, the birds seem to be quite happy with his offering of food and goods.

He lays them out in offering, and they grasp and pluck without a care in the world. “Maybe the human of the Kano really were broken. ♪ What a shame.” he says with a smile, placing his hands on his cheeks as he watches the small winged creatures eat their fill. Once he had enough watching, he grabs hold of his sacks, and leaps back down to the ground, placing his bags in the middle of a bunch of dirty children gathered within a dark alleyway. He gives them a warm smile, bows, and turns to walks away. “Goodbye. ♪” he says before finding the others at his own pace. ]

No repairs this time, all they had to was recompensate people for the items they had lost. While Juusa wasn't a firm believer in giving things out for free seeing the smile on people's faces would always brighten up her day. So why was it that no one was smiling? Ungrateful the lot of them were, the World Government decides to give them a small squadron of marines to give them physical goods and food. And they just keep the disgusting frown on their face? How revolting. Of course being a proper lady she herself knew better than to not put anything else but a gorgeous smile. Walking up to one of the more pitiful citizen, she's placed her hand under his chin, lifting up his head. "No one likes a frowning face. Nothing was ever solved with a pessimistic attitude" Unfortunately the man saw this as a chance to let out all the pent up emotions he had been feeling. At times Juusa hated how approachable she turned out to be, still with a soft combing of the man's hair the young marine would listen to his woes. "Marines are often stretched thin. As wonderful as it is being beautiful most people rather stay their ugly selves and become pirates" Taking a small pause trying to think of a gentle way to phrase her next thoughts. "So do keep in mind we are only mortals. Can't stop every pirate...but I'll sure try" Juusa would finish up cheering up the man before realizing all reimbursing had been done. Quickly finding Chao Juusa quickly wrapped her arm she around the other woman's waist a soft nuzzle against her the other neck. "Good job on helping around. Anything in particular you want to do while we patrol?"

-------- That was it. They were done. She had no clue what to do now. She had been following and bringing stuff back and forth only to get nothing. She looked to the people around her, knowing someone had to be a step above her. She wondered what they would be doing now, but no one had stepped up. "U-Uh" She started, gulping down fear. She had lead once, she could do it again. "Where are we going next?" She asked with a hint of more confidence. "It seems like there are no calls for now? Is it best to search around? I think maybe we should go to headquarters and learn what we can do" She said as she more stood straight. "It is best to get to know what we can do. We are a team" Her heels in the ground and a smile on her face. She needed to buy a blade and make sure she could have something for fighting. She hoped to get through the ranks as fast as possible, and to gain a possible answer. She also had marine things that were piling up. She needed to stop avoiding those.

Juusa wasn't one who liked being ignored but that's exactly what happened with Chao. There was a reason she had asked the swords woman what she wanted to do but instead she ignored it. "We can stay here for a bit longer. Just look around and enjoy the place" Relaxing when they had the time was very important, its not like they got that many breaks anyways. Turns out that they had the same idea of just wandering around except Chao decided going back to base would be good. Perking up her lips Juusa crossed her arms and shook her head lightly. "Base is boring. Come on lets just walk around. If you want we can always do a spar. I do need to find my bow..." Looking around Juusa shrugged. "Guess I lost it" Giggling at the end of her sentence, Juusa would close in on the other marine, hugging the other's arm and resting her head on the swords woman shoulder. "So why choose sword?" Placing her hand on Chao's biceps giving them a soft caress, she always did have a thing for muscular people. Which reminded her, what did happen to the other guy. What was his name? Well they would meet at one point or another for now she would get accustomed with Chao.

-------- She had accidently ignored Juusa, but wouldn't know. She was dedicated to this and only thought of moving forward. She had wanted to keep doing what she set out to do. The more she tried what she was doing, the more she could get the information she needed. She was looking for one person and soon they would pop up. He wondered where, why he would do what he did, but the people did not care to tell her. It was frustrating but she would find out what she needed to know. She stood straight when Juusa addressed her, more because she had not seen the others leave. They had been going so fast she had just been caught up. Juusa said they should stick around and enjoy the place but that made Chao frown. That wasn't what she was here for. Pirates didn't just sit around and enjoy themselves, they did what they wanted. She couldn't just say that though, or she wouldn't for now. Juusa thought it would be a good idea to just walk around here, to use their energy in a spar. She had also not brought her bow, which was quite funny. They were both weaponless, meaning they just had hand to hand combat. Was she even good in that? Juusa put her head on Chao's shoulder and she stared. "F-Family business" She stated. Juusa kept touching her, and Chao steadily moved away. "I'm uh...Up for that spar" She stated, opening and closing her hands. All she could do was ready up for a hand to hand. Without weapons, this was all she had. For a moment, she prepared herself, stretching, breathing and the likes, but then she realized something. "Wait" She said aloud, perplexed. She had seen something before, a set of duties she had to accomplish in the names of the marines. They had missions and she had to do hers. Maybe Juusa didn't care because she was so hands on with what she did, but Chao had a mission, a dream...A desire. She wasn't going to let anyone stop her, and she didn't care if Juusa had something or wanted something, Chao had to get her piece done. "Lets patrol" Chao stated, and immediately took off. "If the pirates attacked once, they can attack again. Lets look for signs or something" She stated aloud, hoping that Juusa would buy what she was selling. She needed info, and this time, she wouldn't be stopped. She moved around the village, examining the landscape for any sort of boot mark or left over mark. She needed to know, she needed to know who did this. She left no stone upturned, no question unasked. She made sure to get to every and anyone, and with that, she had gotten a set of information. She had learned of a male and a female. The male was quite large, a darker male with a chest tattoo and a woman with blonde hair. That wasn't her brother and the woman was a mystery, but for now, she had a start. This was her work into the marine life she was working for.

With that, she had another thing to do, something she wasn't proud of. They had to do something else as marines that she remembered seeing as a child. Her parents had no problem with it, they had a steady supply, but she remembered hearing the sadness from the people of others who came to their dojo. The taxes. Paying taxes was something that was highly needed. It kept your country running, you supported what you needed done. Without taxes there wouldn't be marines, and places wouldn't be resupplied. She understood why they were needed but also why people could be upset. If you couldn't pay up, you set yourself back, but wasn't that part of the prices of living? She debated how terrible it must be to scope out an area for threats and then walk in demanding to be paid, but she put some pep in her step and began walking from door to door to get what she needed. There was notices on the doors of the people who hadn't paid yet so it was easier for her to know who to go too and who not to. She felt a bit, paranoid. How were they going to view her? She had just helped restore this place, look around for bad guys and now...Money. This is what it all boiled down to huh? She knocked on the first door just as the first person was coming up, and more, instead of knocking, punched them square in the face. She blinked, her face strawberry red as she looked at the man who was coming out to enjoy his day. She stared, and the man held his nose, blood pouring. They locked eyes and she wanted to say sorry and pay your taxes, so she yelled: "Sorry for your ******** taxes!". The village stared, she stared and there was silence. In a matter of moments, the people began shoveling out money. She looked to the Beli flying her way and counted only those who had needed to pay up, not those who were paying out of fear. She wasn't pocketing any of this, nor would she be doing so. She wouldn't feel good about that, nor did she feel good about the man she had punched in the face, but when she went to approach him, he skittered back in fear. Lost cause. She gave everyone the money who had pooled in who didn't need to pay and then bowed to the people. She sighed, and made her way back out of town. She couldn't ask what she wanted to here anymore. She had just done so much, and so little. She shrugged. "Juusa, we have to return to the marine base" She stated firmly, but she didn't stop. More or less, it was now her dragging Juusa to the ship. She watched the town fade off into the distance as they made their way back to the marine base. She sighed, not sure of how to truly feel. She had damaged a man but got her job done. She laid her head on the railing of the ship for a moment, sighing. The sigh quickly faded as did her moment of sadness. "No, what I did was for the government. You must do bad to be good sometimes" She stated as she stood tall. "First thing i'm doing once we get back to base is getting a blade. This was my first mistake. I will make it my last." She stated with a fire in her eyes. It was time for her to get on her A game.

Lily responded with the expected flaw in Luka's logic and she merely nodded, understanding. She couldn't read minds by any means and the legitimate reason someone joins the Navy is not something she would know without asking and even then a lie could be made. "That is true, but I would prefer to see the good in others before judging otherwise...but it's not a luxury I can always afford admittedly..." She listened to the speech of the food chain and shook her head slightly, disagreeing. "It isn't really just about survival. People are inherently social. They crave friendship, companions, love..." She trailed off for a moment before finishing. "I believe it is the norm to want to live together peacefully and those that wish to disturb such happiness are the ones out of the norm. There are more civilians than there are criminals in the world, which means that living in harmony is the default state. At least, that's how I prefer to see it."

The conversation shifted tones somewhat though as Lily went on to answer the question regarding humans as a race. She didn't have an immediate answer for the first part of the question, but went on to make observational statements regarding the way humans reacted to seeing her usually. Luka listened and nodded to her, but noticed that she still lacked an answer to what she personally thought of humans by the end of her speech. "It's part of their fear of the unknown. Humans are quick to show their fear and in groups it only grows and spreads, defying rationale and logic sometimes... They can't really help it most of the time and you shouldn't blame them for it either. When it really matters, you're the only one who can show them otherwise by your actions really." She spoke softly, trying to offer some advice on the matter before they left. They had a lot more ground to cover still after all.

Bancho Village would be their next stop and the fourth of the intended eight they had to visit before all was said and done. It was actually a place she'd been to before after she had her first encounter with a certain swordsman that used an overly long blade to compensate for his lacking in other areas. It reminded her of the scar on her right side but she quickly cast the thought aside as she dropped the anchor and 'parked' her ship at the port. She hopped over the railing easily enough, fixing her hair slightly as she stood back up and waited for Lily to join her on the docks. It was a wonder she never got tired always following the ship in the water instead of simply riding alongside with her. Then again the girl was native to living underwater so being above likely felt more foreign to her instead.

As they headed into town, Luka would walk alongside her as typical stares that both the Navy and fishpeople got. But at least the uniform prevented people from randomly calling the poor girl a monster or trying to attack her unprovoked which was good. She looked at her though as they walked and to her specially designed helmet. "Hey Lily, I'm a bit curious but what is it like being on land for you? I know you need water every now and then but is it uncomfortable being out of the water? Or does it vary from each different type usually?" She sounded genuinely intrigued on the biological distinctions of fishpersons here, as she never really had so much time to simply speak with one before and she was usually bad at socializing as well. The base also didn't seem to have a whole lot of books on the subject either as fishmen and women were possible recruits but far from common.
