                                                Roselle Stark

XXX Shout out to sailing in a straight line. Roselle was no navigator, she couldn't get very far without another detailed map, but the island they had left had been thankfully close to the race. The newspaper had marked landmarks she was able to use, and it seemed as though the race wasn't going to be too complicated to maneuver. If she had to turn she probably could, but it wasn't going to be fast and it wasn't going to be smooth. The faint smell of something pleasant and fresh momentarily scented the breeze and Roselle turned to see Nefertari preparing the boat by raising their sails up to catch the wind. Ah, right. . . Knowing how to sail with the wind at their back was also a job of the person at the helm. Currently, it was blowing her hair gently to the left. Which of course meant. . . Something. . . But she had no idea what. Hopefully it wasn't a big deal!

The rest of the crew soon followed, Ezekiel with her deep desire to return to the crow's nest, Marshall newly dunked and no longer stinky. And Asche. He actually seemed serious now, an aura that demanded her attention and respect, the feel of a true leader. As he shimmied of the top of his garb to expose his chest she couldn't help but shamelessly run her eyes over his form fora moment. He truly was very beautiful. But it was more so his eyes that captivated her so as he turned to address her and give her orders. His gaze burned with vigor and an eagerness for what was to come. As if awestruck, she only looked away when he broke eye contact and moved on to speak to Marshall. "Y-Yes, Captain. ." It had been a long time - practically a year - since she had seen that look, and she knew he was serious about this.

The sudden loud noise to their left startled her and she jumped a little, yelping and taking a moment to glance over at the newly wrecked ship with wide eyes. Had. . Asche been able to do that? How could a single man have that much strength?! A whole ship with a single swing of a sword. It was both terrifying and strangely attractive. But she didn't have time to gawk! Turning her head back, she'd focus on the path in front of her as they sailed on.

With eyes greener than any gemstone and beauty unrivaled by even the baddest of tavern wenches, Nefertari would gaze over the side of the ships railing to his fellow competitors and their vessels. The other ships looked sturdy enough but nothing that was unbreakable. He’d give a condescending smirk at the other pirates across from him. They would be scrambling about as they tried to get their ship to sail faster. One would stop and notice this sly smirk that made those that gazed upon it feel so smol.

”Oi! Whatcha starin at!? Never seen a vessel as fine as ours!?” The smirk would widen as he would rest his head on the back of his hand. ”No. Can it sink as fast as it sails?!” The man would express his genuine confusion at this. Nefertari would point down at the base of his ship and there would be a giant hole at the base, taking in copious amounts of water. A look of dread would creep onto the mans face and then be replaced with even more bewilderment as he would look to Nefertari. ”You’d think a vessel as fine as yours wouldn’t be filled with holes~!”

As the copper skinned beauty would speak, a snake made of a violet venomous liquid would emerge from his sleeve, coil up his arm and then weave through his fingers. With a dramatic pointing gesture, the serpent would be launch like a speeding bullet at the base of the opposing ship and splat onto the side. It made very little sound but the liquid itself corroded the wood away and created yet another gaping hole in the side of the ship.

The mighty vessel would begin to sink as men would try to run down below to remedy the situation. Nefertari would just laugh as the ship would slow down into a stop and be left behind by his own speeding vessel. Leaning over the side, he’d call out to the sinking ship and say, ”For what it’s worth your ship was a pretty nice one! It’ll be the most glorious sunken treasure at the bottom of the ocean~!” A laugh would be let out as he would lean back and look around at everyone else. They seemed to be keeping busy. With one less ship in the race and half of the ships slower than their own vessel, there was no need for the serpent to expend too much energy.

Nefertari would walk over and lay down on one of his lounging chairs near the front of the ship. ”Carrying this crew takes a lot out of me. Time for a little R&R.” He would bake in the sun, letting the rays from the bright star warm his body in the cooling breeze of the ocean air. Nothing felt better than sun bathing after securing the downfall of another human being. It was like a tall glass of iced tea ona hot summer day. ”If only more days were like this.”

Marshall

A race!

This interested Marshall very much. He bathed and quickly got dressed in the clothes that were laid out for him. They were fairly plain, but he had no room to complain at the moment. He hoped that he would be able to stop somewhere and browse for some clothes and other items.

Marshall climbed above deck to see the other members of the crew, scrambling about and taking down ships left and right. Asche was barking orders at his crew and stopped for a moment to turn to him.

"Marshall. From what I heard you wanted an adventure right? Well. ."

The larger Skypiean moved his attention to a ship coasting beside them and swung his blade down, cleaving the entire ship in half. He faced Marshall and laughed as he surveyed a crate full of katana.

". . you've found it. Welcome to the Big Smile Pirates! Shahahahahaha!"

Marshall stood in awe at what Asche had just done. Looking around at the other members of the crew, Roselle was currently at the helm, though it looked as if she didn't know how to sail. The look on her face exuded confidence, yet also a lack of experience. Nefertari was busy laughing as he sunk several other ships and went to lounge on a chair placed at the front of the ship. He saw Ezekiel climbing up to the crow's nest and he called out to her first.

"I'm going to swing onto another ship! You wanna come?!" He shouted loudly as he picked up two bundles of rope with a hook attached to the end and tossed one up to her.

Marshall sped towards the side of the ship, stepping up onto the railing and spun the hook. He pulled his arm back and threw the hook with all his might, watching as it sailed through the air and lodging into the side the mast. Confirming the line was secure, Marshall leaped off the edge and swung onto the next ship, landing smack in the middle of several pirates.

"Ah! Well. Hello everybody, name's Ocean Dog." Marshall spoke, greeting the scruffy, unkempt rogues. As he watched them all turn and pull out their swords and guns pointing them at Marshall. He looked up to see the pirate at the helm and gave a little smirk, the kind that noted that he was the primary target. Turning his attention back to the crowd, Marshall slammed his fists together and walked towards his first victim.

SHERLOCKHOMESLICE'TILL THEY HIT THE FLOOR ----
SHERLOCKHOMESLICETHEY JUST KEPT BEGGING FOR ----

( " MORE, MORE " ) So Ezekiel had gotten her orders, which naturally came with a renewal on her license to kill. A sharp-toothed grin split along Ezekiel's face, revealing that gold-capped tooth once more. It gave off a sinister glint, as would her scope once she set up in the crow's nest. Ocean Dog gave her a shoutout first, already prepared to swing over to another ship. Neffy and Asche had already decimated two of their competitors; they could handle things on their own. Marshall, however, could be her partner in crime! She smiled at him, much more warmly than she'd been grinning at her future belt notches a few moments ago.

"I'll catch up wit'ya after I cover you from the nest! Go cause hell, yeah?!" She watched him cross for good measure and shimmied up to the crow's nest. The rocking of the ship was stronger up there, and it made her stomach lurch in the best way. The ocean crawled beneath her from those heights; waves that once appeared giant now looked like patterned print inching across mother earth's tapestry. She took a second to breathe it all in and get herself in the right frame of mind. There was no space for jitters on the scope, especially with her dear Ocean Dog barking up everyone's trees on the enemy deck. One false move and Marshall could end up in a wooden onesie! Ezekiel was better than that, though. She'd been plucking apricots for long enough to keep her hands steady, and more importantly, work with the bobbing of the ship to keep her shots aligned. Once she adjusted her scope for the MOA, she lined up and peered out onto the deck where Ocean Dog was posted.

Oh! So he'd already initiated combat! How cheeky! Ezekiel scanned the crowd forming around Marshall and picked out the high priority targets. People with firearms were a bigger threat--they could do quick damage over a long distance, and they could aim at her without much consequence. As Ocean Dog primed his fists for bringing the pain, Ezekiel leveled her sights on one man raising his pistol behind her crewmate Old Yeller style and let the first bullet fly. If only she could've been close enough to hear the way his skull just burst~! PHHHBLLLT! That was her approximation, at least. Such was the price she paid for being a Marksman.

Between the wails of the pirates, the grim satisfaction of seeing bodies lurch and then crumple to the deck by her bullet, and the smoky odor of spent gunpowder... Ezekiel felt invigorated. One by one, she'd corpse the fools who dared try to sneak up on Marshall from behind. Some tried to dodge, but none ever looked up. The two that did, well, they gave her the satisfaction of letting her look into their eyes before the flew a bullet through them. With the population on the enemy deck thinned out to a reasonable amount, Ezekiel gave a glance to her ammo and decided it was time to get into the fray. She packed up her empty wizzjars and rappelled down the pole, deftly crossing own deck and slinging the grappling rope's hook into the enemy mast in a fluid motion. Then she swung across.

On the enemy deck, energy was buzzing about her; the effervesce of life in its last moments and Marshall's freedom in its first stages. Everything was building up to a bursting point. A pirate came up from below deck to jump Marshall, and Ezekiel studied his face. The man looked confused; he couldn't even figure out where the fight was. Was he young? It was too busy to tell, and Ezekiel was drunk off of the thrill she was getting. What she knew, though, was that man was the one. A wild yell tore from her throat and she rushed him, grabbing a dropped saber on the way to pull him into a headlock, slit his throat. Ezekiel clutched him tighter. His head was below her nose, and she could smell it. It was the closest thing to unadulterated life she'd smelled in a long time. He gurgled a disgusting sound and his body began to slack from the blood loss. Ezekiel pressed her nose to the uncut nape of his neck and she tried not to rush into the moment too quickly, but she inhaled as deeply as she could.

Ah~! There it was! It pricked her nostrils; chills ran down her spine; coursing waves of euphoria from the crown of her head to every extremity. The ionized tang of life fizz-popping in the air like citrus static. Her skin crawled. She could get high from this, but she reeled herself in. For Marshall's sake. Ezekiel had already gone through the effort of not bursting brains where Marshall could see directly, so she wouldn't just go putting the laughter into slaughter just because she was pent up. Ezekiel tamely capped the navigator, leaving Marshall with a healthy set of bodies to undertake with his fists. Meanwhile, Ezekiel prowled the deck for those she'd brained with her rifle, hunting for apricots.

Yes! The medulla oblongata, lovingly dubbed the "apricot" by any marksman who hoped to achieve a quick, clean death. Pierce that, and it would be a one-shot kill. Pierce it properly, and not only was it a testament to your steady hand, but they turned out to be Ezekiel's favorite snack. Some people might call that a little cannibalistic, but Ezekiel called it free protein! They were the spoils of her work, and as she got to work prying open the exit wounds of her victims to get at that juicy fruit inside, she made sure to feel up their pockets for any change. They were reimbursing her for her bullets and her time, after all. A few minutes later, Ezekiel stood from her work, hands bloodied and two jars full of cranial tissue. She turned to Marshall and eyed his handiwork.

"Oi!" The slapping sounds of knuckles to bodies were enticing, but just couldn't compare to the visceral snip a well-placed bullet tended to do to the life fibers. "You got it handled over there? Y'want some extra hands?" By hands she meant blades. There was no way she was ******** up her manicure this quickly after getting it.

Everyone had sped off into their respective directions and Asche watched with amusement at his crew. Of course, Nefetari had to do things in his own stylish way but the result was always the same. He followed orders to the tee and the Brikan only smiled wide in amusement. "You're a little slow, Neffy! I'mma have to rate that a thumbs down." That warming gaze met to his first mate with a finger high to the sky, that slowly shifted in the other direction, starting to reel again in laughter as he turned his attention to the Ocean Dog and EZ! Of course, she had her own way of doing things and it warmed his heart to see her back out there, doing exactly what she loved. Even if that was the systematic killing of pirates one after another! Course, he didn't care to kill but as long as they didn't step on anyone's toes.

Not that he care, the aforementioned toes were the ones of no good, low down scum just like them!

Grasping another katana from the crate Asche winded it back, getting a good feel for it before nodding to himself. This one didn't look like it'd break. . too easily, at least. "Now, to go make my move. . Shehehehe~" While everyone was away the plot of raven hair took off, his body landing on the right of Roselle with a smile. They were gonna win, but he needed to assure more than one victory. "You know. . You really are beautiful. . Thanks for helping me out. ." He'd coo, getting in a little closer to her. ". . I wouldn't mind paying you back. . in a few ways. ." Yes, keep flirting Asche, as your boat headed for a waterfall that would spell impending doom.

                                                Roselle Stark

XXX There was chaos all around her, but Roselle kept her eyes firmly glued to the beautiful blue path spread before her. The past year she hadn't been called upon to do too much, and she wanted to pay Asche and Nefertari back by being useful now. The pressure only increased now that Ez - who had joined a few months ago - and their beloved Ocean Dog were aboard as well. There was a whole crew counting on her to do a fairly simple task while they did the heavy lifting. This was the least she could accomplish for them. Screams, gunshots, the sounds of ships falling apart; it took a lot of willpower not to turn her head in curious horror. Her wings fluffed up, black feathers ruffled in apparent distress.

A moment later her Captain was beside her, and she glanced at him out of the corners of her eyes. Her feathers smoothed down, shoulders relaxing a little at his presence. If he was here that meant everything else was going fine, despite all the terrible noises she was hearing. Taking a brief moment to look away, she'd return Asche's smile and then blush, looking surprised at his words. "I. . um. . Th-Thank you! I'm always happy to help!" That applied to everyone on board. Nefertari had saved her life, Ez protected them, and now Marshall was. . Well, she didn't know Marshall well yet, but he seemed good and that was all that mattered! Asche had been the one to give her a home when she'd had nothing, who made sure she was fed and taken care of, and she wanted to express her gratitude.

However, it seemed as though he was interested in something besides her task as their temporary navigator. As he moved closed to her she felt their arms brush up against one another and her blush deepened. Her heart beat loudly in her chest, her mind blank, just as it always was when he flirted with her. She never knew what to do in these situations. . Besides the fact that she'd seen him flirt with multiple women through the years, she'd seen how Nefertari looked at him. She could guess the reason he got so bothered by how physically close the two became occasionally. It was a cruel thing to do to the man who had saved her, even if Roselle did want him. .

"Asche. ." She turned to look at him, swallowing nervously and grabbing his hand. She'd finally tell him how she felt, and explain her trepidation and guilt. It was better to get it all off her chest, to finally confess. "I. ." She cut off looking confused as she realized she heard rushing water. The loud of violent sound of water crashing and cascading. Roselle's face paled and she turned to look around her. There was no storm, no large waves, so what was --. . . Only then did she notice it, that the ocean in front of them wasn't continuing on. Her face paled, stomach churning as she realized what was happening exactly. She'd steered them all right to a waterfall.

"Asche. AscheAscheAscheAscheAsche!!" Clinging to his arm she'd turn her Captain to look at the scenario, tears forming in the panicking woman's eyes. She'd had one job! And now she'd killed them all! She had so much left to say, so much she wanted to apologize for, but her fear caused the words to lodge in her throat as she stared down their doom. She knew what was coming and it wasn't going to be anything good. But this is what she deserved. One final dunk. . .

It was these relaxing moments that you have to cherish. Nefertari would sit on his lounge chair, his body taking in the rays of the golden sun in the sky. As he would lay there, without a care in the world, the desert flower could not help but hear the loud roar of water. ”Someone left the shower on...” His words would ring loud enough for someone to hear but probably would go ignored as the source of the sound came closer.

Louder. The sound was getting louder. How was someone supposed to properly lounge with all this noise? ”Hey! Someone go turn off the water in the shower!” Repeating. He hated repeating himself. Nefertari would snuggle back into his lounging chair trying to recapture that peaceful serenity he had before. The idea that someone heard him and went to turn off the water was sound in his head...however...the sound was only getting louder.

So not only was the noise annoying him but everyone ignored him AND he was going to repeat himself AGAIN!? The nerve! A rage filled snatching of his sunglasses would occur as Nefertari would quickly rise, ”How am I supposed to rest with someone needlessly running water and making all this racket!?” Jade orbs would set on Roselle embracing Asche at the helm. His anger would begin to seethe until he would catch the sweet hint of fear radiating off of the winged hussy!

Delicate fingers would comb hair behind his ear as Nefertari would turn his head to look over his shoulder and see impending doom in the form of a waterfall. No panicking would occur however. No screams. No wails. Just a simple head turn back to Roselle. ”So you want the captain...AND our lives...You selfish b***h...” The depravity of this girl! Was there no level to which she would not stoop!?

It had been so long since he had been able to exercise like this. Considering he was stuck at sea, Marshall had been hoping he would get the chance to move around. Lo and behold, here it was.The sound of gunfire rang in the air as Marshall caught Ezekiel perched in the crows nest of their ship, picking off her targets one by one. Bodies fell in conjunction with the sound to bullets piercing the skulls of their victims. Turning his attention back to his end, Marshall reeled his fist back and planted it in the face of the nearest person.

                                                            Crack.

                                                            It was a solid hit.

The poor soul had staggered back and clutched his nose as blood leaked, dripping onto the deck and staining his shirt. Unfortunately for him, it was not over. For Marshall always fought as if the outcome of the battle determined who lived or died. True to his doggish nature, the hound of the sea was focused on his task. To seek out and take down his targets. He dashed in and delivered an uppercut, blasting the man upwards a few inches off the ground before sending him into the crowd with a powerful roundhouse. A well-connected combination, one of many others he practiced back in Skypiea.

The other pirates were momentarily caught off guard, but quickly returned to their senses and proceeded to swarm Marshall. Hoping to overwhelm him with numbers was a smart move, unfortunately, not against him. The Skypiean moved with haste in an attempt to gain the upper hand. He rolled under multiple overhead sword swipes, kicking into the legs of a stout man and transitioning into a windmill. Marshall made it a point to keep track of the enemy's positioning as he continued his assault.

The ambient sounds flooded his ears and he found himself lost in the wave of screams unable to take note of anything else or anyone at the moment, clanging metal, bone grinding against bone and water.

                                                            Wait, water?

Specks of blood not belonging to him painted his body as he let go of his final victim, allowing his body to crumple to the ground. Whipping his head around, Marshall could not see any more water. He then, looked to the rest of his crew mates and captain, who were in a state of panic.

They were sailing into a waterfall.

Marshall scrambled up to the helm of the ship and flung the wheel to the right in an attempt to direct the bow of the vessel towards their own, but not too far to crash into it. He let go of it and hopped back onto the main deck, barreling towards Ezekiel. As far as he was concerned, he would apologize later, but time was of the essence and he knew for a fact that he could glide, but nine times out of ten Ezekiel couldn’t. Abruptly stopping beside her, he gave her quick apologetic look and scooped her up like a potato sack along with her jars of whatever those were, he didn’t really care at the moment. Hoisting her up, he ran up to the front and along the bowsprit, jumping off and over to their ship as it careened off the edge and into what may be their impending doom….

( " MORE, MORE " ) Not that Ezekiel was romantic by any sense of the word, but she'd been keeping an eye--her only eye!--on the ship. Ezekiel didn't know enough about Roselle to have strong opinions on her navigating skills; hell, she didn't know enough about all of Asche's crew to have very strong opinions on much of anything about them. All she knew was that she'd never seen Roselle take the helm before, and that Asche was definitely making the goo-goo eyes at their resident fair maiden. Which, to be honest, Ezekiel was okay with that! She'd only known them for like two months! If Asche, was going to let the seat of his pants fly his crew right off the edge of a waterfall, Ezekiel could cope...on the other ship, safely, with Ocean Dog on deck and her beloved spoon, Thaddeus, nestled safely in her right bra cup.

                          Wait.
                          Thaddeus?!

"THADDEUS!" Ezekiel had left him in the crow's nest! Such folly! Such brainlessness! How was she going to scoop her second husband's throat out without him?! They had a legacy together, a history; Thaddeus was her only heirloom and her one true friend, and she'd been so scatterbrained as to leave him utterly defenseless in the crow's nest of their soon to be forsaken ship, endangered by none other than Asche's p***s and Roselle's dandere demeanor. If she were the type to kick herself for her mistakes, she'd already have flung herself overboard out of anguish, but Ezekiel came from tougher stock. She got her rope and she started making moves! Direct Action was named with her in mind! She was--being carried potato sack style off the ship?!

Record scratch. Yeah, that's me. You might be wondering how I got in this situation--It was at this moment that Ezekiel remembered that Ocean Dog was a Skypeian, which meant he could, like. Fly. Or something. Her immediate relief was interrupted by the next moment, when she remembered that his wings were goddamn tiny, and that she herself didn't skip any meals. This looked like as good a Direct Action moment than any. They were gliding well enough, but they were descending too fast to do more than kiss the hull of the ship before they ate brine if they kept that pace. So with the extra time allowed to her, Ezekiel got that rope swinging and twisted herself around to get a good look at the ship. Once she lined up her sights, she let the hooked rope fly until it caught the wood of the deck, bounced once, twice, and skidded along the wood for a few nerve-wracking seconds before it caught a knot in the wood and held fast.

This gave her just enough time to pass the rope to Ocean Dog before they ran out of hangtime and irreparably screwed up her back, but more importantly, it meant that she could climb aboard the Maribel and rescue Thaddeus before it was too late! After she helped Marshall make it up the rope proper, she was swiftly struck in the head by Thaddeus sliding out of the crow's nest, and a touching reunion between the two ensued. Kissing, metal-stroking, the usual. Just another Tuesday for Ezekiel, save for the whole hurtling-towards-impending-death part. That was Wednesday for Ezekiel. With Thaddeus stuffed safe on top of her tiddy, she gathered her trusty rope again, sprinted to the helm, and really just tried not to be disgusted by the fact that Roselle was just standing there clinging to that man's arm.

Things had come full circle now.
Ezekiel didn't know how to navigate a ship either! It wasn't like a boulder. You couldn't just sit on that and ride it for miles like the pioneers used to. But there was a certain amount of intuition to it, kind of like riding a bike or driving a stick shift. The ship had a language. It would tell you what you needed to do. So when she started to turn and wheel and got kickback, she knew she'd need more help than her muscles and some rope. Which is to say, she trusted this crew with most things (keeping their eyes on the helm is crossed off the list), her life being one of them, ostensibly. Right now she had to trust them to get it together and steer this ship back on course! "Don't just stand there!" Ezekiel barked over the waves, addressing the entire crew, but more so just anyone who would listen. "Put your big beautiful muscles to work and steer this thing! I want to eat dinner tonight!" Once someone, anyone, got their hands on the wheel, Ezekiel started fastening her rope along the knobs of it to keep it from recoiling back. The last thing they needed was for the wheel to break and leave them rudderless in the wake of a waterfall.

...Talk about working for your food.

Their eyes had matched. The scene was set and like some movie, it was all in motion how things were supposed to play out. "Asche. . I've always loved you. ." Is what he was expecting to hear. How she'd pledge her undying loyalty and love to him, from this day forward. How she would be his woman and follow him to the ends of the earth! And it all would be sealed with a loving, long and passionate kiss as the waves flew to the sky with blotches of orange painted in the background. Ah. . A perfect ending for day as grand as this. . but clearly, that's not what happened. As the birkan slowly came back into reality, realizing that he and Roselle weren't wrapped within the hold of one another, his eyes momentarily scanned the area. Nefetari wasn't pleased, that was for sure, but when was he ever? Marshal and EZ had just arrived back on the ship, yet dismay lay within their eyes which caused a frown to eclipse his features. What. . What was wrong?

"Asche. AscheAscheAscheAscheAsche!!"

Hm. . For a moment he scanned the horizon as the ship prepared to hit the falls, turning back to her with a almost jovial smile. Had he gone mad?

"Put your big beautiful muscles to work and steer this thing! I want to eat dinner tonight!"

Oh, of course. EZ was right. It was time to get to work. They were his crew after all and he couldn't just let them die here when their adventure had only just begun! A free hand went up to Roselle's face, hues scanning her warmly before he leaned forward. "When you look so afraid like that. . I can't help but save you. ." Slowly he turned, that warm smirk turning into a wide one before beginning to run just as the ship went flying off the edge of the waterfall! Hold on tight, we're in for one helluva ride boys!

Asche didn't waste any time - as he leaped off his foot stamped the air, twisting his body momentarily while arriving to the front of the ship, then performing the same motion to get underneath their vessel as they fell. He'd get a good grip, coating his hands in some form of invisible energy to make sure he wouldn't slip as the water splashed about his form. "Not the way I wanted to get wet, but I guess I'll make due." Time came to a sudden halt as he came closer and closer to the bottom, his leg pressing with yet another powerful stomp! The air dispersing, causing waves below to erupt upward as ships around them came crashing to their demise. Asche let the boat down slowly as smashed into the water below, the ship safely entering the finish line with no damage and a full crew on board, but where was their hero?

A few moments passed as they probably searched the waters for him. . and out he came, leaping through the air to land on the deck with almost a river pooling off of him. Whipping his hair too and fro, he'd open his eyes with that same wide grin. "Well. . Looks like we won. . EZ, go be a dear and collect our prize money, will ya?" Snickering to himself he'd begin walking forwards towards them, stretching his arm as he went. Man. . that was cool.

                                                Roselle Stark

XXX The reactions she received to be the cause of their impending doom were fair. "I-I'm so sorry! All the signs pointed this direction! I thought this was the way we were supposed to go!" Tears spilled down Roselle's face as she grabbed the wheel of the ship once more, beginning to turn it, but she knew it was a futile gesture. The wind blew them ever forward, the current of the waterfall pulling them in. Asche's reaction was strange and made absolutely no sense to her. She'd seen him get serious, and in this situation where death seemed surely imminent, he was smiling? "I'm sorry. . I'm so so sorry. . after everything you've done for me. . I. ." Her tears continued even as his hand brushed against her cheek, words coming out between breaths and sobs, unable to get all the words she wanted to say out before he took action. As he spoke, she furrowed her brows in confusion and looked on in surprise as he suddenly. . . jumped off the ship?!

Not understanding at all what he was up to, Roselle felt her stomach dip as they sailed over the edge. She recognized the feeling of falling all too well and knew that any chance of saving the ship was gone. Instead, the blubbering doctor turned to a new tactic: trying to save the crew. Spinning around, Roselle searched for EZ and Marshall, running over to them and attempting to grab them, awkwardly wrapping a single arm around their waists respectively, struggling to hold them potato sack style as the Ocean Dog had so expertly demonstrated earlier. Her wings unfurled, suddenly beginning to expand and grow much larger than any normal Skypiean's wings. With a hop, grunt, and hard flap of her wings they were airborne for a few brief moments before she half crashed, half landed next to Nefertari. "I. . I'm not strong enough. . To lift you all to safety. . I'm so sorry!"

Out of options, Roselle set EZ and Marshall down near Nefertari, forcing her wings to sprout further before suddenly encasing the three within them, both of her wings curling about the trio to encase them in layers of fluffy black feathers. It was wishful thinking to hope it would protect them from damage, but it was all she had. Bracing herself for the impact, Roselle tensed her body, waiting for a harsh collision and instead receiving a gentle set down. Slowly opening her eyes, she looked around only to find that they had not died and had in fact won this horrible race.

Stunned and speechless, the young woman allowed her wings to straighten once more, freeing her companions and returning to their normal size. Silent, she refused to meet the gazes of her crew mates due to a mixture of shame and general confusion as the looked around trying to figure out how the hell they had survived. Standing up, Roselle walked shakily toward the edge of the ship, her legs feeling like jelly, heart still pounding, and adrenaline rushing through her system. Now there was only one person unaccounted for: their Captain. Before she could call out to him, eyes frantically searching the water for any sight of him, he appeared back on deck trailing a pool of water with him.The young woman sunk to her knees, guilt and relief flooding through her, crying once more though she turned from the group to try to hide it.

What a horrible day this had been.

. . Okay, besides finding Ocean Dog, that part had been pretty good.

It seemed that the crew was definitely going over the waterfall and it was all Roselle’s fault! There was no need to fear however. Nefertari had been in his fair share of dire situations so he never felt the need or saw the point in panicking. Emerald eyes would simply look towards EZ who would beckon to her lecherous captain.

After a disgusting display of affection towards Roselle, which would receive a shadow cast glare from the deck below, Asche would attempt a rescue. He was more than capable of salvaging this whole race so there was no need for further panic...or so Nefertari thought! Roselle, the sea hobo, and EZ would all come plopping down after Roselle’s failed attempt flying them to safety. With a roll of the eyes the desert viper would speak, ”Asche said he’d fix it so calm down an-“

Interrupted! The sight of large black wings enveloping his form and smothering him between a wall of obsidian feathers and the body of a water mutt! He would fight for freedom, struggling vigorously to escape the clutches of this harpie’s grip but to no avail. It was only when they had safely averted the waterfall crisis that he would be liberated from Roselle’s evil grasp!

One last struggle would send him stumbling forward before catching his balance and regaining his composure. ”Ugh! We were fine!” He’d exclaim as he would fix his hair. A shift in the air would be apparent as Nefertari would notice her crying...so fragile. Shades would be placed over his eyes again as he would walk over to his lounge chair and lay back down. No point in further upsetting her...not that he cared about her or anything! It’s just because it would be too easy with her already crying...baka.

                                                            Marshall A. Rawlins

What a start for an adventure....

The race had all but been finished, considering there were no more competitors left to pose a challenge. The problem at hand now was the fact that the entire crew was about to drop over the edge of a waterfall. The one to blame for this incident was not only Roselle but the captain, Asche himself. Had he not been too busy trying to seduce her, he might have actually noticed the waterfall in time. But he digressed, not everybody was perfect.

With Ezekiel on his shoulder, Marshall was descending a bit faster than he would have anticipated. So much for that plan, sucking his teeth and uttering a few curses under his breath, Marshall would have ended up throwing Ezekiel onto the ship instead and braced himself for the drop. That is until a rope dangled in front of his face and he grabbed it without a second thought. The two swung towards the port side of the Maribel and Mashall planted his feet firmly onto its side. He winced as he felt the force shoot up his legs from making contact and allowed Ezekiel to climb up first before following suit.

Once aboard, Marshall had enough time to witness Asche diving off the ship before feeling arms wrap around his waist and his feet leave the ground. He turned to see Roselle, her wings enlarged, trying to lift him and Ezekiel, but to no avail. They crashed next to Nefertari and instead, she tried to cover them with her wings, which were now notably bigger.

Something wet touched his back and he took notice that Roselle was crying.

A few seconds passed and nothing happened.

                                                            No flying debris

                                                            No screams

                                                            Nothing

Everything was fine, they were all safe and sound. Roselle uncovered them all and walked away from everyone else. Asche climbed back aboard the ship and everything returned to normal. Kind of. Judging by everything that happened, she might be overwhelmed. Considering she almost put everyone in danger, it wasn't surprising. Marshall got up and walked over to the crying woman, in hopes of cheering her up.

Kneeling down, he cocked his head and thought for a moment before poking her head to get her attention.

"I won't tell you not to cry, that would be dumb. Just because you can't steer a ship, doesn't mean you're useless or no-good. I'm not usually one for fancy words, but success is not final, failure is not fatal. It's the courage to continue that counts."

SHERLOCKHOMESLICE'TILL THEY HIT THE FLOOR ----
SHERLOCKHOMESLICETHEY JUST KEPT BEGGING FOR ----

( " MORE, MORE " ) A lot of things happened all at the same time. First among them was Ezekiel being reminded of her love-hate relationship with water. Back when she was captive, she longed for it. Water was freedom, water was life, water was--a death wish now, because she couldn't hecking swim thanks to her Devil Fruit! She hadn't been the proud owner of the Goe Goe no Mi for very long, so she still had to remind herself that just one dunk could be her last. All those years of being a strong swimmer meant nothing now! As soon as her feet stopped touching the ocean floor, she went full noodle. Imagine the unbridled terror that ran through her heart when she realized that the ship was too far gone!

                          And then suddenly, Asche.

Ezekiel barely had a second to reach out after his bounteous muscles, his blessed frosted tips, the little divot above his bootycheeks in the small of his back...! He had run off into the cacophony of the ocean blue, disappearing in the wave crests beneath the ship. Gravity balled Her Pinkness' stomach and dribbled it as the ship fell. Where had Asche gone?! What was he going to do?! She was still staring at the afterimage of her captain when Roselle had tossed EZ over her shoulder in an attempt to get them to safety. Her wings were certainly larger than Ocean Dog's, but they seemed to even be larger...than Asche's?!

Ah, but Roselle wasn't strong enough to fly them to safety.
Today was just teeming with revelation after revelation about these Skypiean wings. Ezekiel just couldn't rely on them the way she thought she'd be able to. Instead of expecting flight, or death, Ezekiel put her faith in Asche's rippling muscles and Neffy's righteous saltiness and swaddled her iron faith in a pleasing middle ground: just being marginally okay. Uncomfortable, probably more tense than a new mattress spring, but not dead. Not too thrilled about being alive either, but--oh, now she was in a feather dome. That was creative! Shoutout to Roselle!

Ezekiel clutched her breasts for security (securititties, if you will) as she waited for a hard crash into the depths. It never came. Instead, when Roselle finally unfurled her wings (which Ezekiel had licked just to know the taste of) Asche was there, and so was Neffy and so was Marshall and finally...her breasts had been calmed. She had Hakuna'd her Tatas. Undone the calamity that was her mammaries. They were all alive! Her jars of apricots, unscathed! Nefertari, back in the lawn chair! Ocean Dog, giving Roselle the pep talk of a lifetime! Asche's muscles and nipples all intact!

And Ezekiel? She was hop-skip-running off to the collection booth, arms outstretched and ready to receive their hard-earned Beli...only to find the booth staffed by one furious manager!

"Didn't you read the rules?! We don't pay out Beli to people who cheat!" The woman at the booth barked out, a fat cigarette littering ash all over the place.

What?! They'd nearly died and there was no reward?! Someone was about to read the fine print of Ezekiel's hands. Fear not! This was what her devil fruit was for! She sucked up a deep breath, reeled her head back and...turned it the other way.

"AAAAAAAAAAAASCHE! THEY WON'T GIVE US THE MOOOONEY!" Ezekiel's voice cut (literally!) through the air back towards the ship, echoing in claps along the way. Hopefully her captain and crew weren't standing within line of fire.

An easygoing expression littered the Birkan's face as he walked along the deck, soaked to the bone. And to think, he'd JUST changed clothes before all this started so he could be dry again. Now he had to take yet another shower and then change into another set of clothes. "I saw you out there Neffy! Good on ya'! You were a little slow on movement. Maybe you've gotten a little sluggish in the past year, Shehehehe~" Musing over the caramel beaut, Asche leaned down while smiling only to finally hear the sounds of Roselle not too far off, crying. What? Why was she even? Nobody died. Everyone was alive. They even won the prize money! Was he missing something? Did they hit a goat on landing? "The majestic sea goat. . I can understand why she'd cry over such a thing." An animal truly befitting the title of the most gorgeous being, but that was for another time. His tarn eyes would watch in amusement as none other than the newbie consoled her - that same long smile he wore grew even wider.

He'd been worth it all in the end it seemed.

"You're gonna let our mascot show you up already? God. . C'mon Elle." Swaying his head from side to side, he'd plop down on the deck next to her, moving a couple strands of hair out the way in a warm gesture. "You're too beautiful to be crying like that. . We all love that smile of yours, so that's what you need to be showing. . No one blames you for what happened. . Well, probably Nefetari but. . Ya know how that goes." Giving a bland shrug, a hand would touch her cheek. "You did good. You made your captain proud. Now it's time for a celebration! Where's EZ with our money any-"

Suddenly the yell pierced his ears.

"AAAAAAAAAAAASCHE! THEY WON'T GIVE US THE MOOOONEY!"

. . . dotdotdot. They had drove off a cliff, fought off numerous ships, been the only ones at the bottom when it all happened and yet. . "They dare. ." Furiously his aura rose, standing with a stride as he didn't say a word to anyone else before leaping off the ship and landing ashore. Looking to where EZ was, then the lady, he sneered before speaking. "Have you ever seen the oceans depths. . . !?" Before she had the chance to answer, Asche hands reached out, grasping the woman by the shirt and tossed her straight towards the sea. Her body careening, a loud yell escaping as he reached back to grab their damn money. "Hmph. Now then, it's time to celebrate!" Putting an arm around EZ, he leaned back an forth as they'd bo leggedly walk to the ship.

And to this day, you can still hear the screams of this woman flying about these wayward seas.
