It was awkward sitting on top of Leon, but he was more frustrated everything. He glared down at the other waiting for the other to speak or say something. After an weird moment or two, He noticed that his bag had opened and that the both toys were next to each other. Reaching for his, he accidentally brushed hands with Leon as the both touched his wolf. A flash of light blinded them for an instant, and Fain was left bewildered. Squeezing his eyes shut to clear the spots away, it took a second before he realized that Leon was no longer underneath him. Instead it was the blue haired Fae had met the other day. His eyes widened in shock and once again his heart race this time not from fear, but at excitement and hope. He turned their face trying to get a better look and confirm whether or not his eyes were truly seeing the person in front of him. He could feel joy rise with in him, recognizing the face of his old friend. Realizing he was unconscious, Fain moved off of him and heaved the chair back into place with Orion's head resting on his chest. The two wolves still rested on the floor so Fain picked them up and set them on a bookshelf behind the desk before focusing back on the passed out Orion.
He walked over and sat on the desk. Leaning closer he chuckled lightly, "I'm glad to have found you Orion." Smiling brightly as a sense of pride filled him as he decided what to do. He remembered that last time Orion had passed out too, but had quickly awoken. So he decided to wait a few minutes, to see he woke up. if Orion didn't wake up soon then he would carry the unconscious Fae back to his room and find a healer.

Leon's dream:

"Go away, you mutt."
Leon tilted his head at the boy in front of him, before turning his icy blue eyes to the girl hiding behind the boy.
He held out the small, little pink teddy bear toward the girl, blinking innocently with his large, round eyes.
"Your teddy bear." He said softly, still holding the stuffed toy out to her.
I fixed it for you. He finished the sentence in his mind, blinking once at the girl, wondering why she wasn't taking it.
She looked at the teddy bear, her eyes brightening a little, almost as if she was about to accept it from him.
Then, her eyes narrowed.
"I don't want it." She said, hiding her face behind the boy as if she couldn't bear the sight of Leon anymore, "Go away."
The boy looked at her, and then back at Leon, a menacing expression on his face.
"You are scaring my little sister. Leave, we don't want you here, you disgusting half-breed!"
He took a step forward, picking up a stone as he threw it at Leon, missing the latter by inches.

Leon took a step back, his eyes wide in confusion.
He turned around, running home with the teddy bear in his arms, wondering why there was a sharp ache in his chest.

"Mother, what is a 'half-breed'?" He asked, as he returned home, spotting his mother sitting alone in the living room, gazing out the window.
When his mother did not answer, Leon tried again, this time sitting down beside her, so that he could see her face.
"Mother, I fixed a teddy bear with magic. Look."
He held up the teddy bear, with a small smile on his face.
Slowly, his mother directed her gaze toward him, her eyes emotionless and cold.
Leon raised the teddy bear higher toward her, his eyes sparkling gently in anticipation of what his mother will do.
Would she praise him?
The thought of her praising him for something for the first time in his life filled the young Leon with joy.
Yet, he stayed quiet, gazing at his mother with warmth and hope.
His mother reached for the teddy bear.
Leon's heart beat quickened.
Thump. Thump. Went his small, innocent heart.

"Why...do you have to be here."

Leon watched in shock as his mother tore the teddy bear apart, tears rolling down her cheeks as she threw it across the room.

"WHY MUST YOU BE HERE TO REMIND ME OF HIM!!?"

Leon sat there, frozen.
His mother gazed at him, before sitting down in her chair, her face in her hands.

"Go away. You are not needed here...you are not needed anywhere."

Leon stared at his mother in silence.
The warmth he felt earlier had faded, leaving him chilled to his very core.
Slowly, he got up, walking over to where the teddy bear laid, picking it up and cradling it gently in his arms.
He looked back at his mother, his eyes dim and lifeless.
Then, he made his way up to his room.

"Mr. Teddy Bear, I will fix you again."
Leon chanted a spell, a warm, pure white glow surrounding the broken toy.
When the light was gone, the toy was like new once again.

Crouching down beside it, Leon peered at it.
"Mr. Teddy Bear, I don't have any friends." he said, as he gazed at the stuffed toy, "Can you teach me how to make friends?"
He waited for the bear to respond, but of course, got none.
"Then...can you teach me how to make my mother happy?"
He tilted his head to the side, his eyes softening in sorrow.
"My mother was happy before, when Father was here. But now that he is gone, she won't smile at me anymore. Mr. Teddy Bear, how can I make her smile again?"
No response again.
Gently, Leon reached for the stuffed toy, hugging it to his chest.
"Let's be friends instead." he said, as he smiled, resting his chin on the toy, "We can explore the village together. We can play all sorts of games."
He thought about all the things he watched other kids do, but could never do himself.
"We can have a lot of fun. So please, be my friend."
His eyelids were slowly falling.
Leon fell asleep with the toy in his arms, a smile on his face as he dreamt about him and the other children, laughing as they played together.

When Leon woke up, it was just a little past dawn.
He stretched, before hopping off the bed, getting himself dressed and washed up.
He headed downstairs quietly, so that he won't disturb his mother.
Grabbing his bag, he put on his shoes, heading out to deliver things around the tribe.

"A package from Mr. Yok." he said, as he handed the package to an elderly lady sitting outside her house, on a rocking chair.
"Ah, Orion. It's great to see you, my dear."
She beckoned him to come closer, smiling gently at the young boy.
"Hello Mrs. Lyren." he greeted, returning her smile with a timid one of his own.
"Oh, what do we have here!" She said, as she opened the package in front of him, "My, what wonderful pastries!"
She looked at the sweets, delighted with her findings.
Leon's stomach grumbled, and he blushed, embarrassed.
Mrs. Lyren smiled gently at him, before handing the package to him.
"Here, my dear. You like sweets, don't you?"
Leon looked at what was being offered to him, and then back up at the smiling elderly lady.
"I can't take it." he said, refusing with a shake of his head.
He felt a small warmth on top of his head, as Mrs. Lyren patted him softly.
"Take it, Orion. You have done so much for me these years, this is the least I can do for you."
Leon gazed at her as she continued smiling at him.
A simple gesture, yet, it filled his heart with a strange, bubbly feeling.
"Thank you..." He said, as he accepted the package from her.
"Well then, off you go! Be safe, my dear...I will see you tomorrow."

But, when tomorrow came, she was gone.
"Oh, that poor old lady. All of her children died in hunting accidents, so she was alone for a long time..."
"Hush...she was always a weird person. Did you see how she used to talk to that mutt every single day? Surely, she must be wrong in the head..."
"Now now...it's not good to talk about the deceased like that..."

"..........."
Leon could remember running home that day, shutting himself in his room.
He didn't know how long he sat there, simply staring into space, lost in his thoughts.
When his mother banged on his door, he did not answer.

"Orion, answer the door now." his mother said, her voice tense and angry.
He did not move from his spot.
"ORION VALHALLA. OPEN THE DOOR NOW!!!!"
The banging from the door increased, until it shook with each thud, as if it were about to fall apart.
Slowly, he got up, heading to the door and unlocking it.

"Mother, I-"
He received a slap in the face.
Raising his hand to his aching cheek, he looked up at the towering form of his mother.
"Why didn't you answer it when I first called?" she shouted, her eyes unforgiving, "Didn't I tell you to answer as soon as I call? What were you doing all day? Are you planning on leaving me behind just like him!?"
She struck him again, her face contorted in anguish.
Leon flinched when she raised her hand again, as if she were about to struck him once more.
The blow never came.
His mother fell to her knees in front of him, pulling him toward her, gripping her son tightly.
"Don't leave me alone, Orion...don't leave me..."
Leon let his mother sob into his chest, his eyes dull and empty.
Then, he placed a hand on her back, patting her soothingly.
"I won't leave." he said, his voice emotionless, "I won't leave."

The next day, he went back to his duties.
Yet, something was lost on that day.
Leon no longer smiled at anyone.
Mr. Teddy Bear was returned to his rightful owner secretly.
The girl was overjoyed, yet, Leon did not care.
Life went on for him like an endless routine.
Days passed, and the boy's heart cooled.
Perhaps it would have continued being that way, had he not met someone...

At first, Leon disliked the boy named Fain Strom.
The boy was slightly older than him, and was from a loving, respected family.
Fain was friendly and sociable; everyone loved him, and he seemed to love everyone equally back as well.
The boy received private tutoring in magic, much to the jealousy of Leon, yet did not seem to enjoy his privileges.

Annoying.
Yes, that was the word to describe Fain.
He talked non-stop, bothering Leon endlessly.
Couldn't he tell that Leon wasn't interested in him?
Still, the boy came to Leon every single day.

"Want to play hide and seek with me?"

"No."

The next day, Fain was back again.

"I got my hands on this awesome spell book. I can teach you it!"

"No."

And he was back the next day, with a foolish grin on his face.

"Orion! Teach me about animals! I want to learn about how they behave!"

To that, Leon fixed him with a steady gaze, before rejecting him outright.

Days passed, and slowly, Leon got used to having Fain by his side.
When the latter was sick for a few days, Leon snuck a small wolf pup doll into his room.
A "get-well-soon" gift, though he was unsure why he gave it to Fain.

"Did you miss me?" Fain asked, as soon as he was better again to tag along.
Leon stopped walking, turning to him, before answering with complete honesty.
"Yes." He said simply, gazing at Fain with an unwavering expression.
Fain was silent for a moment.
Then, he blushed.
".....?"
Leon tilted his head at him, confused at his reaction.
"Shesh...I was expecting a definite 'no'."
Fain wrapped the smaller-built Leon in a bear hug, ruffling his hair.
"Thank you for being so honest, Orion!"

Thump. Thump.
Leon could feel his heart beat quicken in his chest.
...
Was he perhaps catching a cold as well?

Peaceful days passed yet again.
Leon and Fain soon became the best of friends. Leon taught Fain all about animals and their ways, and Fain returned the favor by teaching him all about advanced magic.
Soon, the two were inseparable.
To Leon, Fain was more than just a friend. He was also his precious family.
It was the first time in his life that Orion had been truly happy.
But those moments did not last.
Soon, the tribe found out about their relationship, and exiled Leon.

The night before the exile, Leon and Fain made a promise in the same field that they first met.
"As long as we each have this doll, we will never forget each other."
The promise was sealed into the wolf doll pup that Leon had given Fain.
Fain's doll was the lock, and his was the key.

"I will never forget you, Orion..." Was Fain's last words to him.

"I will never forget you either, Fain..."
-----------

Leon's eyes fluttered open as the dream faded.
Slowly, his eyes adjusted to the light in the room, falling on top of the form of a handsome, white-haired Fae gazing down at him.

"..."
Leon reached out toward him, touching the side of Fain's face gently, almost as if seeking confirmation that this was not a dream.

"Fain." He whispered softly, "I remember. I remember everything..."

As Fain waited for Orion to wake up, he seemed to be having a nightmare of sorts. Concerned he took hold of Orion's hand trying to possibly comfort him. It must have worked because Orion seemed to relax an ever so slightly peaceful smile appeared. He chuckled again, "Same as always I see." Orion was once again relying on him for comfort, but how the tables had turned. No longer was he weak or small, but instead he had grown up a little taller than Fain (probably due to his mixed blood) and was now a skilled mage and tactician. After a few more moments in silence, Orion began to stir awake. Fain watched expectantly in anticipation. When he felt Orion's hand brush against his cheek, a blissful feeling spread through him. At Orion's statement a broad grin grew and he leaned closer almost touching foreheads staring into Leon's eyes. "It took forever," He whispered before pulling him into a hug. "I'm glad you're back."

Leon's eyes widened as he was suddenly pulled into a hug by Fain.
Slowly, his wrapped his arms around Fain as well, returning the hug.
"I'm back." he said simply, melting in the embrace.
To Leon, this moment brought on a lot of mixed feelings.
He was happy, extremely happy...but at the same time, he was also overwhelmed by the intense rush of loneliness from his childhood.
It was an odd combination; Leon could feel himself hugging Fain closer to him, yet his mind was unable to formulate proper thoughts.
His throat was dry, his eyes were sore, and his heart ached.
What was this feeling?

It has been a long long time since Leon had felt this helpless.
Directionless.
He knew nothing of what the future held for them, and for that reason, he was extremely afraid.
Afraid of...what?
He didn't know that either.
His mind was a mess.
For someone who prides himself on his ability to think, this moment was almost alarming and frustrating to him.

"Fain..." he started to say softly, but then stopped himself.

"No...it's nothing."

In the hug Fain felt a sigh of relief escape his lips., I don't have to search anymore. It was well worth the wait of 100 years to have Orion hugging him again. It felt satisfying as Orion pulled him closer and warm. There was a warm feeling that he hadn't felt since his childhood returning. At the call of his name, he felt Orion twitch and end whatever he was about to say. Pulling away he looked down at him confused. "What Orion? You never hesitate to speak." He frowned perturbed that he had not finished his statement. He tried to read him, but it was nearly impossible once Orion built his wall.

Leon shook his head.
"It's nothing." he said, as he let go of Fain, "I was merely talking to myself."
He moved away from Fain, back to his own chair.
"I would like to hear the rest of your report." he stated, as if nothing had happened.

He nodded his head slowly, letting Orion's hesitnancy slide. Fain watched curious as Orion moved back to his chair waiting for the completion of the report.
"Right, well liked I mentioned earlier there's a person living out in some old chapel ruins. They have a very interesting ability." He chuckled at the memory, "Almost killed me, but it might be worth trying to recruit her or find out if she has any information about the Darks. Other than that there really isn't much to report. I came across a bear that was willing to train to become a war bear if necessary, but I let them go not able to think of someone compatible with it."

He stared at Fain, no longer listening to the rest of his report.
"Are you hurt." he said, as he reached forward slowly, cupping his face in his hands.

Surprised, but pleased with the sudden display of affection he shook his head, pulling away from Orion's touch. "No, I'm not hurt, but more tired of late." He shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly and smiled calmly, "I think I was more directly affected than most people since I lack magic which adds to someone's essence. Once I rest, I'll be fine."
