whee Oh yes, I forgot to add something! Originally yaoi WAS meant for men(and it was alot more accurate in depicting a male/male relationship). However, I guess it the manga gained a surprisingly large woman audience so it evolved into what it is today.

I hear that gay mens' manga is quite different from girls' yaoi. Yaoi is part of the shoujo genre since it's a subgenre of romance for girls. I'm kind of curious to compare though. 3nodding

Think about it for a moment. Girls read yaoi for bishonen. Bishonen are sometimes indistinguishable from women, they're just that pretty. But why would a gay man want to read mushy love stories about men that look like women? Wouldn't he prefer stories about men who look like men? I can see how there would be a big divide between actual gay manga and girls' yaoi.

I find it very funny that yaoi was originally made for men. I've seen a few animes/manga where both males look their gender, but I thought it was just the preferred style. Well, it might be. O.o But, anyway, yaoi really has changed a lot and I agree on most of the points made about why females like it best.
