[BATT] A Friendly Talk (Sinter + Sarcel)

Sinter could have sworn he'd heard the twangy snap of everyone's patience. It was immediately followed by porcelain shattering against the wall next to Sinter. He felt a couple lukewarm drops of liquid hit the back of his neck before he reacted.

Sinter had already been standing. It wasn't much of a reach to grab the display sabre down from the mantle. Without even bothering to unsheath it, Sinter swung at Sarcel. "GET OUT!"

Perhaps under different circumstances, a shattered cup like that would have startled Sinter into cooperation. This, however, was his home. If he were to have one domain under his control, this was it. Sarcel hadn't touched a nerve so much as stomped it flat.

Thank god her reflexes were what they were. Maybe she'd have to thank Eostre; seemed like the kickboxing really payed off.

She hadn't really tried using them yet, nor did she think she would be anytime soon. The wings that were delicately woven into her shoes with her laces were... well, impressive to say the least. She wasn't sure (honestly couldn't be sure, couldn't comprehend) the tech that went into them, but they were sold to her as shock absorbers, and well...

It perhaps wasn't the most versatile thing, but Sarcel's legs were far stronger than her arms were, and it was reflex and trained balance that swung her foot into the air, slamming into that sabre with a satisfying thud (thank god it was unsheathed). She winced as the force, but hey; seemed like the swhings weren't full of s**t after all.

"You invite someone, interrogate them, and then scream at them to leave when things don't go your way?" She was quick to kick her leg back down, regaining her footing to put some distance between them both. "And then you call me ignorant?"

Needless to say, she wasn't leaving. Not yet, anyway.

Sinter's sword was forced into his chest. The power behind the kick had clearly taken him by surprise. Small as she was, Sarcel was obviously hiding a great deal of muscle under those baggy pants. Sinter wheezed and stumbled to recover himself. The blow had done more to his pride than his body.

"If I recall correctly, you were the one that threw the teacup at me!"

Sinter wouldn't admit it, but he was almost glad to have had an excuse to take his frustration out on the highblood.

Okay, well, yeah she had been the one to do that, hadn't she?

"Maybe I wouldn't have if you hadn't insulted AND threatened me!" it felt childish and petty going back and forth like this, but Sarcel was in too deep to have any real reservations about it now. They were both obviously past being the 'bigger troll' at this point.

"Besides, it sure says a lot on your character if your reaction to a teacup is to grab a goddamn sword." Even if it was unsheathed, Sarcel was pretty sure it was a little more dangerous than anything she'd pulled at this point.

"I'm sure as hell not going to wait until you attack me with something heavier!" Sinter snapped right back. The two of them were only a few degrees away from an argument of "No, YOU!" However, Sinter would save his embarrassment for after the fight. His priority at the moment was to take out Sarcel's legs, which he attempted with a wide sweeping motion.

If he wasn't going to regret his pettiness later, he would definitely regret the scuffs the two of them were going to put on his floor.

A retort on tongue, it was caught short when Sinter swung at her legs. If there was any sort of healthy fear Sarcel still held onto, it was damaging those.

The sword might not have met it's mark, but it did its job well enough. Just because Sarcel had reflexes didn't mean she could keep up with them. Her legs stumbled backwards just in the nick of time, only for her ankle to get caught on the leg of the table that once sat between them.

Well, at least crashing over on that was better than having her legs too terribly hurt. Save for her now equally wounded pride and—was that blood? Oh, right, the rest of the tea set was on that table. Now she guessed that was broken too.

Spinning around, she gripped the new cut on her arm carefully, never breaking eye contact with the redblood in front of her. That retort would never leave her throat now; she was looking for an opening.

The crash of Sarcel ending up on the other side of the table was more of a reaction than Sinter had expected. He cringed visibly at the resulting damage. Between the tea and the blood, the rug was definitely going to get stained.

Sinter startled back into focus as Sarcel glared at him. He raised his sword defensively. Now was definitely not the time to be concerned with anything that wasn't his physical safety.

Sinter does 0 damage!

Sarcel narrowed her eyes. It seemed that Sinter a little more cautious than she was giving him credit for. Ah well.

She channeled her energy into a sudden movement, closing the distance between them to attempt grapple with his sabre. Or at least she would have if he wasn't so goddamn tall.

A swift kick to the shin would suffice, she decided.

Sarcel rushed Sinter, which was anticipated considering the small amount of room to do anything else. What Sinter failed to take note of as he raised his saber, was Sarcel's target.

"OW! <********> Sinter stumbled back into the wall to catch himself as his left shin was kicked out from beneath him. It was hardly a life-threatening injury, but damn if it didn't hurt. A red spot began to form on his stocking, which would likely be nothing compared to the bruise that would show up later.

It was a bit of a low blow, but Sinter couldn't doubt the move's effectiveness.

Under usual circumstances, Sarcel might feel bad. Actually, Sarcel might not be attacking a redblood in his own hive. Fact of the matter was, her entire composition was shaken after the royal gala, and everything Sinter had grilled her about just felt like insult to injury. Sure, it made sense that he wanted to look out for his moirail, but apparently Sarcel was past common sense; that or she was just caught up in the rush. Either way.

She needed to disarm his sabre before he decided to unsheathe it. Her survival instincts were in full bloom. If he thought the kick to a shin was a low blow, he hadn't seen anything yet.

Sarcel put a lot of force behind the punch she threw, but she fully anticipated a parry, that was fine. Her tactic was to disrupt however, and the second she threw the first punch she was gone. If Sinter was clever enough, he could probably hear her running around his hive--she wasn't being very quiet--as she gathered a new vantage point from the back, jumped off of the couch they had been sharing tea on only moments before, before knocking him square in the back with her elbow. "Apologize!"

It became deathly apparent to Sinter that despite being in his own home, he was at a distinct disadvantage. Sarcel was more experienced, athletic, and shorter to boot. He stumbled back on his off leg and nearly buckled then and there. Good God, she kicked like a goddamn horse.

Sinter caught the punch on the edge of his scabbard before it could cave his face in. The force nearly knocked his own sword back into his head. He dropped the saber from his vision only to find Sarcel gone entirely. "What the- AGH!" Sinter automatically turned the direction of the noise and overturned bric-a-brac. That did little to protect him from the full-body drop that sent Sinter crashing face-down into the rug.

Whatever he said next was garbled from both carpet fibers and an undoubtedly battered mouth. Sinter bucked up under Sarcel's weight and struck at her with a sharp elbow jab. "I owe you NOTHING!" Sinter spat, literally lobbing a tooth in Sarcel's general direction.

Sarcel anticipated many things, but a tooth had not been one of them. The jab at least was enough to knock her off balance as she was sent equally splaying into the carpet. A voice of reason sounded in the back of her head, barely there, saying something like 'stop while you're ahead, Cincil!'

She pushed herself up, "I'm not... Was that a tooth?" She was catching her breath as she was distracted, her invisibility still flickering over her skin in abstract patches. She grit her teeth and shook her head, "I..? whatever! I'm not going to let anyone talk to me like that anymore!" It didn't matter if they were a highblood or a lowblood! A hand steadied her against the armrest of the chair she had been sitting in just moments before. "I'm not leaving until you say you're sorry." Determination showed on her face.

Normally Sinter would be mortified, but given the circumstances he took a little bit of juvenile delight in Sarcel's surprise at the tooth. God if it didn't sting, though. Sinter tongued the void in his mouth as he shakily rolled himself upright.

"Don't-!" Oh god if he lost anymore teeth he was going to end up with a lisp. "Don't go taking out your insecurities on me in my home!" Sinter literally sputtered. The hypocrisy was utterly lost on him in his rage.

Sinter jabbed in Sarcel's general direction. His sword bypassed her entirely, instead aimed at the chair she'd been using to stabilize herself. It toppled out from under her arm with a clatter.

Sinter does 3 damage!

Sarcel continued to stand there--her stature resolute--as Sinter knocked the chair over. Sarcel proceeded to fall again, and this time the way she got up was very lackluster, no fanfare. She stared at him in the eyes again, the anger still very much present on her face, but she made no move to attack him again. No, she just stood there with her eyes daring him.

"I'm not leaving." She reiterated.

Sinter stalked closer to Sarcel. He hated this. The longer their fight dragged on, the more Sinter found himself hating it. "I'm not saying it," Sinter responded in turn. They were practically nose to nose. The hive wasn't that big. If Sarcel wanted space, she'd have to step around Sinter and put herself that much closer to the door.

Sinter uneasily fingered the edge of his saber's sheath. Neither of them could risk the fight escalating even further. Sinter's pride was becoming an oppressively heavy burden to carry.

"Not here, and certainly not because you told me to." Sinter took a wide swing at Sarcel's ankles.
