Zaire had been in shock when it first happened, panic hit moments after his boilfriend had vanished into the fog. A curse and the monsters books were dropped to the ground, discarded as he raced towards the Haunted House. It was by no doubt the fastest the mahamba had ever moved in his life. But that didn't matter, nor did the looks or his burning lungs because he had to get there, had to find Jory.
The fog, it had been to frighteningly familiar, the thought of Jory in a place like that made his cold blood turn to ice.
Racing, there was a time or two that Zaire nearly got tripped up on his own feet and fell. Frantic glowing eyes searched the fogged grounds before a pleading yelling sent a shiver over his spine. That was Jory, he could tell the boils voice from anywhere. Following the noise the monster closed in, eyes bright in anger and fear of what he'd find on the other end of the yelling. Each word cut hotly in guilt as he closed in, why couldn't he get there faster, why didn't he try to run into the fog instead of to the haunted house, why?
Leave me alone.
Those three words sent a sickening knot into throat that was promptly swallowed down in a fury as glowing blues narrowed in on a club heading for his boilfriend. While he was to far to stop that one the monster was already charging a loud rumbling growl ripping from throat as he went for the club wielder, "GET AWAY FROM HIM!" Zaire roared, louder than ever before, fear pumping the already thick tail up as it came around to crack into the hunter like a club.

Leslie snarled like some base creature at the interruption, sent flying from the impact of the blow. His back cracked against the wall, weapon skittering to the side. He watched the new creature come to the aid of his target, annoyed and infuriated.
No one had ever come to save him. Or at least, no one human, just some shell and imitation that was kinder than the real thing.
He picked up the club and charged, swinging wildly at the new one.
"You're ******** interrupting," Leslie snarled, frustrated. He was baring his teeth.

He heard the growl before he saw the blue, green, and tan blur that was his boilfriend charging to his defense. Ears perked, and pale eyes widened as he lifted his head, watching, shocked, as Zaire sent the hunter flying with a might slam of that thick tail to a thin torso. He hit was enough force to make the wall quake, but he was on his feet against in an instant charging, as if he hadn't been hit at all.
It didn't even look as it if had hurt him!
Teeth clenched, Jory pushed himself up with a pained grunt, and the hand at his side tightened. His head still hurt, throbbing painfully, and now that he had two seconds to just breath he felt woozy, unfocused. A careful touch to his temple stung, and his fingertips came away dark with his own blood.
The sound of weapon impacting with flesh jerked his attention up again, and he cried out in distress as the hunter attacked his boilfriend.
He couldn't do much, to scared, too weak, to hurt to be any real help, but he had to try. A hand shot out, and long fingers curled around the hunter's ankle, jerking at him with all his woefully lacking might.

"I'mma rip your jacking throat out," Zaire snarled back, the hunter wasn't the only frustrated dog at this cat fight. A sharper set of teeth were flashed back, ones that had intention of pulling every bit of flesh off this bastards body and eating it. The club came in heavy, knocking Zaire back and taking his breath from the force of the blow. Under the presser he could feel a snap, it hurt, but nothing hurt more than seeing the beaten Jory trying to get up to his defense.
A frustrated noise came as Jory moved, got in the way, he wanted to grab him and run but at the same time. This might be his only chance to hurt the thing that hurt Jory. A fist was made before coming in fast at the hunter, blue eyes snapping in warning down to the beaten boil. "If you can move get the jack out of here!" Because he didn't need to be here, this thing was way to strong for either of them, Zaire had no doubts about that but it didn't mean his pride could see it. It really didn't take much to shake Jory loose, not in the sorry state he was currently in. The rapid movement was jarring, it hurt everything, and pale fingers loosed as a wave of dizziness sent the afanc's head spinning. Nausea burned at the back of his throat, from the blow to his head or the stress, but he kept teeth clenched tight, refused to let it come out. He already felt bloody useless, that would have just been the icing on this whole terrifying experience.
Zaire's growl made his chest hurt, and he shrank back and away from the pair, obedient. Moving clumsily until his back hit a wall. It was the best he could do, his ankle couldn't bear the weight. "Can't." The ankle was swelling, and he didnt have a clue which direction the exit was in. He'd already been hopelessly lost in here once, he didn't want to imagine being separated from Zaire again, hurt, damn near helpless.
No, there was no way he was risking that.
