[Discussion] parent's reaction when they saw you liked Yaoi?

As far as I know, they don't know and I plan to keep it that way. It's hard to tell what their reactions would be....... My mom claims to be tolerant, but she acts kind of homophobic whenever the topic comes up and I just can't tell with my dad. I don't think he'd really understand it.

my most embarrasing moment happended oneday when i was reading a lemon yaoi fanfic called house of love on the computer well while i was reading it my mom surpised me and said that she needed to use the computer to check her bank account well i was trying to click out of it as fast as i could but aparrently it wasnt fast enough because while my mom was checking her account she asked me why was he asking kamui

I think you should lie on your back . . . and draw your legs up, i was so embarrased but after that i explained to my mom what yaoi and Boys Love was and she didnt get mad or anything so I dont have to worry about buying Boys Love or Yaoi because my mom doesnt care at all heart

mom: "What?!?"
dad: "Brooke, that ******** disgusting! Your sick!"
mom: "Brooke-Ann! That's just wrong! Are you gay?!?!"
me: "No! I'm not gay! Just because I like gay guys doesn't mean I'm gay! Where in the world did you get me being gay from?!"
dad: "So your telling us that you think its hot when guys make out?"
me: "...yes... but!"
dad: "What the hell? All gays should burn! They're all going to hell!"
sis: "*laughing*"
mom: "You better not be gay..."
me: "I'm not gay!"
everyone: "...."


Nice dinner conversation, ne?
But now they just don't care. But still, I don't see how they got me being gay from that....

My mom found an issue of Gravitation laying around a long time ago, read it, and asked to borrow the other issues. Now she steals my BL manga whenever she can. I draw the line at lending more serious yaoi though - sharing porn is just plain weird. xp

Anyway, I made life easier for myself by forcing my mother to read all of the anne rice books. I started off with "vampirezarecool!!!!11" and ended up with "Ahh, this beautiful, most unusual story set in the historical surroundings of Venice, in the colorful renaissance! How curious that they all should be castrati!"

Anyway, when my mother finally went BLERGH on the subject and gave me back all of my books, I just shrugged with "can't help it. Anne Rice has said 'I just find two men together so much more appealing than a man and a woman.'"
When a middle-aged woman says something like that, mothers kindof need to nod in silence and go "ah well."

Poor dad will never understand XD
He struggles to, I give him that. And he can have a perfectly normal conversation with my gay (and drunken) friends. Even when I can't.
But he goes pale after exactly 6 minutes of Angels of America, and then he goes to the refridgerator and never comes back XD

My parents have no idea. I want to keep it that way because my dads kinda sesitive on the subject because we just found out my cousin is gay(I now love him more! XD jk. I can't love him more!) My mom wouldn't care, and I know both my brothers would tease me. My uncle (who I live with at my moms) would avoid it (damn homophob! ><)

My family is as knowledgeable about my love of BL as they are about my sexuality... in other words they don't know a thing and they're not going to for a very long time! xp

I sometimes randomly bring up the subject about some super cute shounen ai/yaoi or slash pairing picture. She has no idea what the heck I'm talking about and just nods politely. ( It's kinda funny really ) But when she found out I liked BL well she sorta ignores it. Pretends it isn't there. If I bring it up she either says thats disgusting or ignores it just nodding with a fake smile. That sorta thing. I guess it's better that way. ( she hates manga and anime in general.) I'm pretty sure she's homophobic considering when I told her I thought that if I saw to guys holding hands ext. was cute she gave me a wierd look and said 'you think thats okay?' really slowly. Very uncomfortable situation.

my mom knows i am bi and that i love yaoi she is fine with it but my dad dosn't my parints don't care (and yes i am a guy) and i hope it makes my dad relize he dosn't know everything about me >=D my family is full of gays lezzes and a whole buntch of bi's
