Prof. Moonie wolf_with_a_dragon Prof. Moonie wolf_with_a_dragon Ember Terran Yep, nothing more annoying than a show you enjoy 3nodding Truer words have never been spoken. Especially when you're busy waiting for the next season to start. THAT'S RIGHT!!! I'M LOOKING AT YOU DOCTOR WHO!!! Sorry the last part was a bit off topic. The hiatus waiting period for Doctor Who is nothing compared to the hiatus waiting period of Sherlock. True. But it's kinda hard to feel bad for Sherlock. xd cool

Leprechaun_Sean So, I just thought of something. Dean and Sam have formal paying jobs. Why not just advertise themselves in the newspaper or something, like Dante in Devil May Cry? Oh and ******** you Briskerville, or however you spell your shitty town name. Much like the chaos god Khorne, he does care who blood flows from, so long as the blood flows! Dean and Sam aren't exactly ones to stay put in one place for very long. It probably hasn't been until recently that they've actually started settling down somewhere, at least in terms of a "home base". Hunting isn't just a job for them, it's a hobby and pastime. They also get to travel across the country to places they probably wouldn't have given a thought to otherwise. Not to mention - although they probably would never admit to it out-loud (especially to each other) - it's an excuse for them to spend more quality time together. *shrugs*
There's several instances throughout Supernatural where the boys find themselves either in a world without the other around or in an AU where they've "settled down" and gotten a job that isn't supernatural-related, and it feels unnatural to them.
On another note, advertising their names in the newspaper wouldn't be a smart idea with how many enemies they have around. It would be like a giant red X on indicating where to find them. The boys may love doing the hunting business but they still prefer to lay low-key and under the radar. Not to mention, they wouldn't have the patience to deal with people who like to come up with hoaxes and what not. By working on their own terms, they know the signs to look out for and when to offer assistance.

The boys have shown signs where they're just kinda...yeah you get it.
