Karnokoto Pie lord25 try dybrushing on a layer or two of firey orange on top of a layer of black it makes it kinda rusted look mrgreen Y'know I've seen someone whio did that once and it pretty much looked like their necrons got splattered with orange paint neutral I think the metallics work fine for necrons but they're pretty much the only models you could use it on that much. Usually I detest using shiny paints just cuz they dont look right..but on Necrons they do. Yeah it doesnt look natural but they're Necrons, for christs sake. They ARENT natural. I dunno about using rust on a metal that can heal itself, but its your call. Yeah I know it was on the GW site but I dont buy it, lol I would just do what Argus said and drybrush silver on black primer. The effect isnt bad but for the love of god, DONT chip off the paint so you can see the pewter. Its LAZY, looks HORRIBLE, and you could just as easily show better results by actually giving a crap. Try doing the primer thing and drybrushing silver around the edges of the model, like on a Destroyer. You'd get something kinda cool :3
i dont use that teqnique my friend uses it for his eldar warp spyders backpack things

What I did was I prime the entire model with chaos black, then drybrush w/ boltgun metal, then painted the eyes and the spaces in between the necron's ribs with snot green. For the gun I lightly drybrushed w/ chainmail then highlighted the blade with mythril silver. I think it looks pretty good, for my first ever paint jobs. What I was thinking though, because I want to give them that dark metal look from the codex, prime w/ chaos black, lay on a coat of dark angels green, then lightly drybrush with boltgun metal or chainmail to give them a metallic shine, adding snot green on the ribs and eyes. Then for the gun boltgun metal, highlighted with chainmail and mythril silver like before, then adding some gloss varnish. Your take?
