Calder knew he was getting upset, and lightly waved away his anger. "No. No. I'm sorry. It's just I thought they would have brought out The Little Scarling Primer out the moment you could understand. I don't know how incubi do things or even in your own home....or even demons all together." He glanced at Barth in hopes he could clear up if all demons were sat down or if it was normal for them not to know about scarlings and how they were created.
When synchronization was brought up, he tensed a bit. He was worried about that. Of not doing well enough with their Fear levels in being unable to have a scarling all together. If his parents were any sort of reference to go by, they had both had a hard time just managing to have Calder, and had failed years after to bring him a sister or brother.
"Yes...syncing up Fear levels is very important in placing into a pumpkin. It's why...it's not often successful for some." He could feel his heart grow chill and twist painfully at just the mere idea of not being able to hold a scarling of his very own.
"B-But that won't happen with us. We'll match up perfectly." He said, patting Barth's hands and giving it a tight squeeze, more for his own comfort than Barth's.
He looked back to Zar. "You are not the worst. You did well with both of us after all." They wouldn't have had such a horrible time at Cricket's if he was the worst.

Zar gave Barth a despairing look when he spoke up, keeping the topic on scarelings in the first place was the last thing he wanted.
"Well they didn't." he said grimly, looking at the ground rather than at the kelpie or the sloth demon.
He didn't bother to grace the comment about him doing well with both of them, just even more miserable at the thought.

Lan had come. Not that she needed to or anything. But the fact that she maybe had considered foals once upon a time, the technical aspect of it, as well as the whole 'hand make your own basket' part, had her curious as to possibilities. Maybe. In the future. It was hard to say. The sight of halloweeners made her raise a brow but not as much as the sight of Shaheen and Soren. "............Well then." Lan sat herself down next to Shaheen. "Is there something going on that I should know about?"

It had only been in passing by that Quidel even took notice of the opportunity that was open for all to take part in. He'd paused a few paces off, just staring at the set up, for one reason or another mulling over the idea of checking out what was going on.
As he saw more and more individual's gather, his curiosity only piqued, and he figured it'd be good for him to get around others more rather than keep entirely reclusive. And so, the horseman made his way over to investigate what was going on, his placid expression keeping in place, though his eyes did wander from one individual to the next, to the materials that were present. Looked interesting enough.

Soren had had mares sprawled on the ground before, peering up at him and smiling, chins propped in hands. Normally they were also batting their eyelashes, or combing their hair, or reciting poetry, and typically they didn't have other large men in their lives satisfying them. So he really wasn't sure what Shaheen was doing. "I'm not making a basket with you," he muttered under his breath, scowling slightly. His eyes slid over to Lan as she appeared, and frankly he was a bit surprised. And there went one basket that he needed to make. He probably only needed to make 98 or so to meet his goal. "Jealous?" he asked. Somewhere deep in his shoulders a bit of tension lifted. He was always meant to be surrounded by mares, and having a basket weaving harem just seemed right.

Wandering in to the room, she tilted her head at the little group that was there already, partially students, and partially Horsemen. It would be an interesting day - even more so because a certain Noblewoman and Chieftess were there. Lifen was here only to learn about the whole basket-weaving situation. It sounded very artistic and interesting to learn. There was no pretense about it at all, Lan.
Sighing a little, she put a soft air on, going to wander over to the trio that was resting while they waited for the class to start, giving them a simple little nod. "Afternoon, Lan, Shaheen." She stated, before giving Sören a little look. They had different ways of saying hello. At least she wouldn't be alone for this.------- Ashton, on the other hand, couldn't help but want to learn at any option he could - even if it was about a group of creatures that he personally had very little memory about. It was like they had just appeared, and was a bit of a apprehensive, but interested, all in the same.
Wandering in to the room, he went to sit in a spot by himself, going to lightly ruffle the fur of his familiar, who was at little more than just curious. Ponies were close to deer.
Right?

Lan harrumphed and glared at Soren. " Hardly. For your information I- I... ....I........." She opened her mouth to say something before closing it again. Lifen's appearance made Lan blush. Oh no Lifen. Lifen might ask and then she'd get bothered about boys and cute ones and feelings and- "Never mind I don't know what he is but that aside, where are your companions? Last I knew you kept a certain priestess company, and you had.....Shik." Who's name was spoken with no amount of hidden distaste. "Also where is Mengyao you and he ought to be taking this together."

The stare was everlasting, and her concentration would not be broken. At least, not until Soren mentioned not making baskets with her. Startled, she blinked her eyes a couple of times, and then pushed herself up, her arms straightening, her fingers digging into the ground and her eyes narrowing. "Why not?" She growled, though making baskets with the death guardian had never been her intention. She had simply been trying to bother him, considering she had basically only come to the class to laugh at those who apparently wanted to become parents, and perhaps pity a few of them just a little as well. But now it was a matter of pride. Why wouldn't he want to make baskets with her? Was she not strong enough? Smart? Beautiful?? Okay she really had no idea if she was attractive or not, though she had an idea her butt was appealing since so many seemed to find ways to touch, pinch, or slap it. And ya, she wasn't smart. But she was strong, and fierce, and amazing so why wouldn't he want to make a basket with her?And then Lan showed up, and Shaheen deflated, flopping back down, giving her friend a sidelong glance. "No. He won't make a basket with me." She said, picking at some grass on the ground in front of her, a smirk playing on her lips, her emotions shifting as quickly as the tide, as usual. At the mention of Shik, she rolled over onto her back, stretching her arms, her smirk growing. "Yes. I do." She replied, her hands going behind her head. "But he does not want baskets either." Which might have been another reason why Shaheen was there. She had considered the option of making him one, more to see his expression then out of any maternal desires. "Lifen!" She sat up abruptly with a large smile, reaching out to pull on the fabric at her sleeve and haul her down to the ground to join them.

He could tell the Chieftain was becoming angry, and he also knew first hand that that wasn't the best for him. Still, Soren wasn't the type to back down, "You want too?" His voice was incredulous, and there was a touch of scorn in his town. Perhaps he lacked some much needed life preservation instincts, but he wasn't about to sign on for baskets with strange mares. Really strange. Lifen just earned herself a look, before Soren glanced down at the empty spot beside him, as much of an invitation as he would offer. What was the most interesting was the way Lan blushed at Lifen, and that...well, actually Soren didn't intend to think too much into that. He merely shrugged at her question, unsure where Nergui was. It was not as if they had been discussing baskets or anything. He simply smirked at the tiny Conquest mare. "You brought no one," he pointed out. "Guess this class is open to fillies too."

Lifen would totally have joined Sören where he sat, but feeling a rather curt tug of her sleeve, she toppled a little next to Shaheen, looking up at her with a little increduous look, but she didn't give her a scowl or anything. It was an invitation to sit, and she was willing to take it. Lightly sitting up, she patted down the fabrics of her dress, so nothing unfortunate would happen.
At the mention of the other Elder Nobleman, she couldn't help but allow a soft colour show on her face, before giving a curt shake of her head. "I am sure he had something more interesting to do - I did not ask. I have come by myself - I was not sure anyone else was here." She told Lan, eyebrows raising a little. "Imagine my surprise. . ." She strayed for a moment, laughing lightly about her little group that had come together for this class.
But, she couldn't help but secretly imagine the cute little horrible creatures that Shaheen and Shik would make. They would be the best.

Lan frowned. She frowned very hard at them all. "One- Soren you should feel honored that Shaheen would even hint at the opportunity to join FEAR with you. She is a chieftain and perhaps one of the best of her clan." Lan spoke as if she knew this as fact and held no bias whatsoever. Soren's assessment just made Lan's blush worsen. "Two-Perhaps I have goals in my life. And I am an Elder you overgrown mule." She punched Soren as hard as she could. After punching him Lan just scooted closer to Lifen, grumping and mumbling how other guardians were much nicer than he was. Target: Soren Dmg: girl power

As everyone arrived, so did the weapon master's guest. Invictus of conquest arrived, and his seat towards the front of the class was slightly more clean and plush than those of everyone else. He said nothing though some might have picked up on a slight discomfort, but Thera grinned and gave him a nod. Standing and in a loud voice, squawking to get the attention of the ones present. "Ahem. Glad you could join us this day fledgelings and foals. Colts and mares- Honored guests and prized warriors-" Pink eyes scanned the crowd amused with the number of war present. "Today we are going to ready ourselves for the most difficult battle of all- the war of hearts... and what follows. Romance leads to a great many things one such being the culmination of FEAR and naturally, pumpkins. Now, as some of you know, the old ways we used to weave baskets to house our precious unborn foals, to those who were ignorant, we did this to celebrate them, and to protect them from any possible dangers. Numbers and.. fertility have never really been in the favor of the four clans." She sighed, shaking her head. "However, that isn't to say that perhaps... we might have a boom in the population one day. To keep our traditions alive, and to teach others of our history, I have been asked to teach you all on these matters and more." "To start us off, this shall have an activity. We will be making our own miniature baskets for.. minipet pumpkins. That said let us get down to the basics. We, all of us, are made of FEAR. When we have enough FEAR, strong, healthy, raw FEAR, we may harvest it, share it with another or others and place it into a vessal. Into a pumpkin. This is the way of all. But the clans long ago were not as they are now. They lived in harder times when pumpkins were harder to come by, and FEAR upkeep was difficult. So we began to create shelters for them. The baskets started simple, unedited, but as time grew on, they became more ornate, more colorful. Now, it is no longer needed, but a deep tradition to create a basket to house the future of our people." Holding up a small, tattered brown broken basket she beemed proudly. "And for some of us, we keep these baskets of our birth, fix and mend them so our foals might have them one day. But today we shall be starting from scratch. Firstly, pick your base. The most popular is wood and twine. Though dried reeds, mud, silk, other variations are also used. Use what you would want to protect your young." She grinned. "I promise however, that you won't be leaving class with a foal of your own. That would just be foolish!" Quote: OOC: On the blankets, are materials to start making your baskets with. ONCE YOU HAVE CHOSEN YOUR MATERIAL THERE IS NO TURNING BACK. The choices are: 1- Hemp- Rough, it holds together well but can't exactly float or look nice. (+1 stability, -1 buoyancy) 2- Silk- Soft and flexible, it can't hold much however (+1 flexibility, -1 size) 3- Wood- Strudy and buoyant, it lax flexibility (+1 buoyancy, -1 Flexibility) 4- Reeds- Flexable and easy to weave, they break easily. (+1 size, -1 stability) Quote: YOU MAY STILL JOIN- BUT YOU ONLY HAVE 48 HRS UNTIL THE NEXT ROUND!

"My father's house is," Barth started, embarrassed, "...on the chaotic side." Barth was not actually sure how many siblings he had. It was very likely he had not met all of them.
Zar and Calder had not actually done well together, for reasons inexplicable, since it was both of their species specialties and not his, but Barth did not think this was the best time to bring that up.
He gave Calder's hand a very gradual pat.
It was interesting that Zar had attended, and he gave him a slightly curious look.
The instructor began her explanation. There were an awful lot of clansmen, here, maybe the whole...river thing was very horse-centric.
The materials, fortunately, were right there on the blankets. You didn't even have to walk up and fetch them. Barth thought that this was, so far, an excellently considered class.
He untangled his legs, lounging long-ways on the blanket.
"Calder, toxling, would you err, mind terribly, err, that is...?" Barth made a vague gesture. The silk was just out of reach.

Calder just glared at the teacher. He didn't want to make MINIPET baskets. He wanted SCARLING baskets. It wasn't foolish to leave with a scarling basket. It would be used. It was called preparing!!!
Crossing his arms, he flicked his tail as the class continued to pick things for minipets, before his sour expression switched to a sly smile. Ohhh, he'd make a basket. He'd make a BIG basket for a BIG "minipet" and then he'd show the teacher who knew his life goals.
As Barth laid beside him, Calder leaned over and brought the basket of silk right beside Barth's arm. "There you go, Rosebud." Then he leaned down and whispered. "Try and make your basket big." Since Zar was there too, he leaned and whispered to him too. "Make a big basket." He informed him, to which he sat between both demons and picked the basket of reeds. His kind had always done basket weaving for just general use in carrying their things. Reeds and plants were abundant in the swamps and rivers and easy to use, but he had no idea if it differed when applying it to scarling basket-making. He would have known but his parents seemed against him learning for some strange reason.
..
Any who, he picked the reeds and debated if he could get away with making many baskets. He rose his hand.
"Can we make more than one?" Selected: Reeds

Quidel's attention went straight to Thera as she began to speak of their history past. It easily pulled the stallion's attention, and made his gut turn slightly from memories still vibrant in his mind. But... it was nice to hear, almost relieving in a sense, of the rituals and habits of his kind. His usually somber expression lightened a little bit, as he became engrossed in the words she spoke, a sense of pride swelling in his chest as well. Bright eyes flickered to the materials that were presented once more, giving each a thorough stare and mulling. Each held their strengths and weaknesses... but what piqued his attention and interest most was when Thera mentioned foals.
What... would you put a foal in...
The options were given an even more critical once over. Only one could be chosen...? obviously using a combination of them all would be ideal, but... which would be best for a newborn? the first thing to come to mind was protection. What would keep them safest, and be the most sturdy? his gaze flickered to the wood... it was tough, and adamant, thus difficult to work with... but the best for durability and duration, he'd think. There were reeds too, but.. they weren't as strong as the wood. Yet they were easier to work with. The contemplation going on in his head was starting to become apparent on his expression, brows furrowed in deep thought, lips pressing, arms even crossing over his fit chest.
What was the best choice here...?
After awhile of internal conflict, he finally decided to go with his gut. Wood would be his choice. Safety was the most important thing, at least he thought, when it came to protecting something. And the wood was the most durable of all the options.
