heres where i feel like a dumb a**. whats prog?
And from this artical it seems they influanced Mod music more then "goth" music.
I had to look up Prog -
Wikipedia
Progressive rock (shortened to prog, or prog rock when differentiating from other "progressive" genres) is an ambitious, eclectic, and often grandiose style of rock music which arose in the late 1960s, reached the peak of its popularity in the early 1970s, and continues as a musical form to this day. Progressive rock began in England and remained largely a European movement, although there are a few notable American and Canadian progressive rock bands. This music style draws many influences from classical music and jazz fusion, in contrast to American rock, which was more influenced by rhythm & blues and country. Over the years various sub-genres of progressive rock have emerged, such as symphonic rock, art rock, Rock in Opposition(RIO), avant-progressive rock, math rock, and progressive metal.

Progressive rock artists sought to move away from the limitations of popular rock and pop music formats, and "progress" rock to the point that it could achieve new forms, often but not always alluding to the sophistication of jazz or classical music. It is complexity, not the virtuosity of the musicians, which most distinguishes progressive rock: mainstream rock also has some extremely talented musicians, but they work almost entirely in simple meters and harmonies.

Progressive rock is difficult to define in a single conclusive way, and outspoken King Crimson leader Robert Fripp has voiced his disdain for the term. The major acts that defined the genre in the 1970s (in no particular order, Jethro Tull, Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Rush, Gentle Giant and King Crimson) do not sound especially alike. Indeed, in some cases the bands themselves and/or well-known commentators such as Bill Martin (author of Listening to the Future - see Further Reading) would question whether one or another of these bands are really progressive rock bands at all. (This article shall assume that they are, or at least, that they were in the 1970s.) There is also debate on whether the musical output of artists and bands as varied as Frank Zappa, Deep Purple, Phish and Tool belongs to the genre.
I've also heard that Bauhaus are going to be NIN opening act on all US tours.

Bauhaus are awesome! Although I think that they didn't create Goth Rock. I think it should be a three way tie between Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Divison and Bauhaus. They also made one of the best songs ever Shes In Parties heart I love that song

It's still argued on "who created goth rock". Multiple major goth bands released seminal goth-rock albums in 1979, so it's hard to tell which got it down first.

1979:

Three Imaginary Boys - The Cure
The Scream - Siouxsie and the Banshees
Bela Lugosi's Dead - Bauhaus
Unknown Pleasures - Joy Division
Only Theatre of Pain [Demo] - Christian Death
Machine Gun Etiquette - The Damned

just to name a few.

Personally I am a great fan of Bauhaus and find that Peter Murphy's unique voice puts him up there with other great bands like placebo, I consider myself quite lucky to be living in their country of residence. Personally I don't really choose any one of their songs over the others liking most equally instead.

I love Bauhaus, possibly my favorite goth band... but it's a hard debate between Bauhaus and Sisters of Mercy.

I just have a hard time deciding wether i like "Dark Entries" or "Stigmata Martyr" more than i like "Temple of Love" or "More" Heh... anyways, yes, Bauhaus Fan. Though i'm a bit miffed that i missed their latest Concert because i had to work.

Sisters of Mercy are the greatest. Once I saw the video for "Dominion/Mother Russsia",they became one of my favorite bands.

There's a video for "Dominion/Mother Russia"?

I've only seen the one for "This Corrosion".

* goes to find the video *

I love "Floodland" too much not to see it...
