I just hope that Gaia can start attracting more members again.
The numbers seem to be decreasing dramatically...

We always get into funks, I remember back in 05 there was a glitch and there was no way to activate your emails for Gaia, even if you emailed Gaia Staff.
That was a nightmare, we lost tons of people but we still rebounded.
I haven't noticed any lack of activity on the site recently though. o,o

It's happening gradually. There were times when there like 40 thousand
online at a time. Now we're lucky to get 10 thousand on at a time.

Wow. o,o Maybe it is because people are busy with school/work. life issues?
It is getting close to the Holidays, maybe people are just busy? Hmmm... I wonder why people are leaving...

A lot of people are tired of how Gaia is changing.
The way it used to be a anime sort of based website and
now it's all about cash shops.

I remember when it was noting but anime and manga based whatever... They made that anime shop, meh things change people need to quit griping about it and deal with it. Gaia isn't a horrible place and they need tons of money to keep the servers up. I don't blame them for cash shops, they NEED that money to keep the site open.
I wish others could be thankful that they don't force you to pay to play on Gaia.
If you don't want to support cash shops then don't get cash cards. =/
issue solved. [/endrant]
Sorry I got on the soapbox. D=
But I don't understand why people are rage quitting over something so little.

I totally agree. The cash shops don't directly effect them.
If they quit because they are throwing a tantrum about
not affording the newer items, then so be it.

I love Gaia more and more each year. So I honestly
don't understand what drives people to quit. I can however
understand if they take a break, but quitting for good?
Never.

I got introduced to the site by some of my close friends that I worked with and went to cons and stuff with. Unfortunately I'm the only one who stuck around. I've invested too much time here and I've become quite attached to certain people that I draw for all the time.

Quitting Gaia is the easy part. It's the starting back up that gets me. I could be fine for a couple weeks and then my old habit of waking up and checking my guilds accidentally happens. emotion_0A0

I want to know how you first found Gaia.
Was it in an advert, did a friend tell you about it?

Yep, a friend of mine dragged me in here by showing me her cute avi (I'm a sucker for anything cute). I don't really see any visual advertisements of Gaia in our country, so it's mostly via word of mouth. Also, my cousin dragged me in here because she wanted a zOMG buddy... only to find out that she soon lost interest in Gaia and has now stopped playing altogether sweatdrop

Would you call Gaia a sort of addiction?

I would say so. By the looks of things, everyone who quits, comes back.
I mean it might get boring from time to time, but it's a habit to come
online and can be most enjoyable at times.

It seems as though everyone heard from friends?

I don't have any friends that play Gaia, or that I know of. I was on some
website called Zwinky? It was pretty lame, but someone told me they
were quitting 'cause they preferred Gaia. When I checked it out, I was
automatically attached.

That is true.. maybe that's Gaia's marketing strategy: via word of mouth to create a more "home" or "family" feeling. I have heard of Zwinky, but I never really paid much attention to it.
And yes, Gaia has this way of making things lively in the beginning... with the hype decreasing as the days go by sweatdrop

Oh definitely. It's horrible sometimes. After the first couple of times I "quit" for good, I started making hiatus threads instead saying I'll be back in a couple weeks-ish. Gaia was one of the main reasons behind my push to get a really nice phone so I could check on the site from anywhere, though I won't admit that to anyone IRL lulz. I find myself logging in no less than 5 times a day now whenever I get a chance. I love the site most when my shops are active and random chats start happening.

I think that many people would have stuck around if it weren't for
booty grab. It's such a simple easy boring way to make gold, that
no one tries other ways. It was more fun when we had to vote in
the arena, bump the trees in towns and go fishing and then sell
the fish for gold. Now it's too simple, so we don't even bother
using the old fashion ways.

I definitely know what you mean! I don't tell any of my friends about Gaia.
It's best left unsaid. A lot of them wonder what I do in my free time.

I can't help but to log in each day. I look so forward to getting home and
coming online. I guess the addictions has become so bad that I put
Gaia before everything.

Specially when the guild is so active, I love it! It makes me want to put
even more effort in!

Found Gaia through looking for Dress up games. I used to play those all the time. Then got invited to a guild that kept me on it. I met my best friend through it and a few other good friends I've been able to meet in person.

I'm stuck on here, even if I * disappear* I eventually come back
