Listening to the other, Abiron shook his head, "I wouldn't know since I'm not from here. I'm a merman from the ocean." he said with a kind smile as he looked at his wings, continuing to listen. "A disgrace? But your wings are beautiful." he said with a smile taking his hand lightly, "Your not botched no matter what people say." he said sweetly and honestly but then remembered, "Sorry for being rude, my name is Abiron." he said with the same sweet smile on his face.

Mordred blinked and listened. "The ocean?" He inched out a little bit more, surprised when the other took his hand. "I-I'm Mordred. What's the ocean like?" He blurted out the last part, curious. He could only learn things from books, and he wanted to find out from a person that actually lived there. He paused. "I-I mean... if it's okay for me to ask." He amended shyly. By then, the maids had noticed them talking, and both of them got worried. "Please, sir, let me escort you to your room..." The other approached and slapped Mordred harshly, making him yelp and hide back in the closet.

Abiron chuckled, "Of course its alright to ask, ask me anything you want to know." he said as he was about to explain then noticed one of the maids had come over slapping Mordred. Abiron frowned upon this but made no motion to move. "I'd like to stay here if that is alright with you Mordred." he asked smiling never even bothering to look at the maid.

Mordred listened, hesitantly answering. "I-I don't mind..." The maid nodded worriedly. "Alright... but I'm afraid that you'll need to separate for dinner. His highness may not come down as long as there are dinner guests." The maid said, ushering her companion out so that the two could be along. After the maids were gone, Mordred poked his head out, making sure that it really was just him and Abiron. He carefully crawled out and sat down on the floor, looking very shy and unsure of what to do. Someone actually wanted to spend time with him. Him, of all people.
"Um... what's it like where you live?" He asked, deciding that it would be a good place to start. "Does the sky look different under water? What's your family like? What do you like to eat? Are there books underwater?" He stopped the flow of questions, blushing sheepishly. "S-sorry... I don't get to talk to people much..."

Hearing the questions fly he chuckled, "It's fine. Now lets see...where I live its well really wet, but very pretty. Truly nothing looks like same for everything is really moving. You see many different types of fish and other animals, as for my house its spacious there's lots of people including my parents, many sisters, the guards and pets. The sky looks distorted but its a giant blur of colors. My family lets see, my father is always busy with ruling the kingdom and mother...I don't see her often since she's always doing something or another, and I have many older sisters who like to tease me. We eat a lot of plant life and some fish for special occasion sharks. We don't really have books like you do here but we have something similar." he said with a smile.

Mordred listened curiously. "You have sisters? What are they like? You have something that's a lot like books? What is it?" He asked, scooting a bit closer. "What pets did you have? How many? What's it like to swim? Do you have a tail? How can you walk on land? Why did you leave home?" He made himself stop and let him answer, though he was excited to find out more about this stranger. Why wasn't he revolted by the color of his wings?

"My sisters are really kind and sweet. They act like a mother at times but most they like to tease and pick on me since I'm the only male sibling and I'm the youngest. "As for the reading material, they're more or less scrolls. As for pets, we have many dolphins, one of my best companions is a clown fish and a turtle. As for swimming, its a lot like walking for you. If I get wet, I have a tail and when my tail dries it turns into feet and legs allowing me to walk on land. For the reason leaving, it's tradition for a male to leave home when he almost reaches adulthood to find a bride. So I'm looking for a bride at the moment." he said glad the other was beginning to relax with him and be open.

Mordred smiled as he listened. "A bride? I'll bet she'll be really pretty! What do you think she'll look like?" He asked, scooting a bit closer again. He always loved hearing about love and weddings. He knew it'd be silly to expect it for himself, but seeing other people fall in love was always heartwarming. He would watch outside to see dragons falling in love, and he would read all about it in books as well.

Abiron smiled lightly, "I'm not sure but the truth is, I don't really like woman. My preference is men." he said as he watched the young dragon briefly. "I'm not really sure what to do though." he said lightly sighing looking out the window able to see the ocean. "Actually my home is somewhere under that body of water." he said with a look that seemed like homesickness.

Mordred blushed at the confession. "Well, can the bride be a boy?" He asked curiously. When he was told about where it was, he walked to the window. "so... you live out there? Wait, how will the bride be able to breathe down there if they're not a merperson?" He asked curiously. "I mean, they have to go under the water, right?" He sat down right next to him this time, no longer afraid of being near him and being attacked. He seemed so nice...

Abiron nodded, "Yes he can. As for breathing, once they're underwater I can have them breathe by simple magic from a kiss. But for living, they CAN live in the ocean or I give up everything, my family, magic, tail to become well more or less human." he said honestly. "If I do meet that person though and he doesn't wish to come I don't know if I can give everything up it's not something I can easily decide." he said as if he was scared, and well he was simply because he didn't want to leave everything he knew and he was sure the person who he fell for would feel the same.

Mordred listened carefully. "Oh... they'll be really lucky though, if they get to go to where you live." He smiled. "They'll get to swim, and meet people, and explore, and be in the ocean..." He could smell the briny scent of the ocean, but he longed to feel the sand and water there too. He wanted to explore and see everything... except his wings kept him from doing that. His thrice damned wings! Speaking of which, when had he last been in his true form? He could feel his skin tight against him, uncomfortable and annoying, but he wouldn't dare change in front of Abiron. "I hope you find him, and that he's perfect. I bet, if he has wings, then they'll be super-white, and he'll have pretty blond hair, and green eyes, and everyone will love him."

Abiron glanced at the other, "I've been meaning to ask, whats with the color white?" he asked curiously as he looked at the young dragon male who had, what he thought, eyes filled with yearning and dreaming. Somewhat like a princess who wanted to escape her encagement. The way Mordred was treated was sad and cruel in his standards, had he been born in his family such a thing would never happen.

Mordred blinked. "Isn't white important in the ocean too? White... is purity. It's for goodness and heaven and innocence... all the good qualities in a person. White is for integrity and truth. Nothing is hidden. If you have white wings, then it's good because you're close to the stars and the sun and the moon, all beautiful and amazing. Black, though... black is for secrets. It's for evil and darkness and lies... shadows and death... it's the farthest thing from white. The whiter your wings are, the higher in status." He explained. "Pastel colors are good, though not for nobles, and darker colors are for the lower classes. I was supposed to have white wings... but I was botched. A noble isn't supposed to have black wings." He looked down, his eyes sad. "So I'm a disgrace. That's why I have to stay up here. But... I have my books. I can see the whole world through them... and nobody has to endure looking at me."

Abiron had a hard time putting this information into sense, shaking his head he said "White is just a pretty color that's all. The statuses are set by either what family your born into or what you marry into. Color has nothing to do with it. I mean my own tail is a shimmery dark blue and ebony mix and I'm still a prince. I actually never heard of any merperson have a pure white tail or any pure color tail. So no its not important, one of my sisters has a pink and purple mix tail, my father a tail of different greens and there are other such colors. They don't really mean anything. Also you can't learn the world through paper and words, you actually have to go out and explore it yourself. Also like I said before, your wings are beautiful."
