The flyers advertising this Horseman welcoming situation had mentioned fighting far too many times for there not to be any, even West could see that. He hoped he was actually correct in his assumption. Even though he wove a mean basket, he had no interest in putting together any fruity offerings for a bunch of mourning ponies. The demon narrowed his eyes as he entered the auditorium and scooted up behind a diminutive goldfish ghoul he hadn't seen around these parts before. Was she a Hunter in disguise? Would an undercover Hunter go so far as to attend a meeting of students who appeared to be happily welcoming Horsemen into their midst? Maybe.
West loomed over Gilly's shoulder as she signed her name, then pulled out a pen of his own and added his to the list. He would be keeping an eye on that one.

"Hello~o, spookies!" The cheery voice of the school janitor, Moira, preceded her into the room; when the headcrab zombie did shove the doors open, she was followed by another line of gnomes carrying still more fruit. "I'm so glad you're all here! Let's give our new neighbors a big warm Amityville welcome! No, put those over there, Pierre," she added, pointing at a gnome laden with booberries.
"Now... let's not make these baskets all the same! That would be super-boring! I've got all this fruit, so each of you grab a basket and pick out four fruits to fill it up! Just make one basket each for right now, okay?" She beamed at the assembled students. "And don't - don't - eat any of them, or... um, throw them. Okay?" The cheerful smile faded into a steely glare. Several of the gnomes visibly flinched.
And then it was gone, her face smoothing out into its usual happy expression. "Off you go, spookies!"
Phase One: Basket Assembly You must put together a single basket using four fruits! Feel free to discuss your choices among yourselves; if you want to ask Moira a question, quote me! Note that Moira was serious about not eating the fruit: if your student tries, a gnome will automatically snatch the fruit away from them. This is not negotiable - no matter how awesome or stealthy or quick your student is, the gnomes will snatch the fruit before it can be bitten into or thrown or whatever. Feel free to try, but you have to NPC a gnome taking the fruit away! You can pick four fruits total - this is four individual items, each a different kind. The types of fruit available to you are, in alphabetical order: - boafox cherries - booberries - caramel apples - grapes - lemons - oranges - pineapples - prickly pears - pumpkins - starfruit Regardless of any RP you might do with your fellow students before or after, all students must make one post in which they assemble their finished basket. Put the following at the bottom of that post:
Basket Complete! Contents: (Put the fruits you've picked here, i.e. orange, starfruit, lemon, pumpkin.)
The next phase of this class will begin at 10:00pm PST on Sunday, May 20th!

((Rolling for his fruit simply because I'm lazy))
Roch headed for the table, idly picking up one of the caramel apples and bringing it to his lips--when one of the gnomes LEAPED into the air, snatching it from his hand and giving him a look of disgust before putting it back in place.
Roch's teeth closed, making a snapping sound as he bit into air. "Whut?" he asked a bit irritably of the gnome. "Fine, fine," he muttered, grabbing a handful of things he probably wouldn't eat. Booberries, lemons (ick, who ATE those things?) oranges, and a... highly disturbing looking star fruit.
Those he tossed into the basket, not really going for the whole artistry thing, and decided it was finished. Then he sat down, looking at the gnomes--STAARRREEEE-like. There was something strange about those gnomes...

Jericho's gaze nervously drifted towards the others as he saw them come on in. Shehk and Lizzy where here at least, for people who could probably calm him down if something happened. Shifting in place, he soon turned towards Moira as she got things started.
Make some baskets. He could do this.
It wasn't dangerous at all too. Nodding, he made his way towards the piles of fruit. There were no worries of him trying to eat any of these. He hated fruit. If it were a large pile of meat instead, that would be a completely different story. Looking over all the choices, he first grabbed some caramel apples to add to his basket.
From there, he decided to add some booberries, and a starfuit.
This just left one more thing he'd need. Hm. Pumpkins. Yes. That should work. He didn't know if these pumpkins were usable but the horsemen could probably use some to help boost their population... right?

Fruit baskets. Shehk didn't even know what ..well..most of these fruits tasted like! So she didn't know if certain things were a horrible combination or otherwise.
However, she did take her time to pick up and sniff each piece of fruit to figure out what scents were nice together, at least. If it wasn't the most cohesive basket, at least it would smell good!
As she picked out a few fruits, she glanced over towards Jericho as he also picked out a few things, before she looked away again. He probably at least had a better idea of what these all tasted like than she did.
"None of these taste like a bag of sugar, right?" she asked across the way to the dragon with a small laugh as she picked up one of the lemons, sniffing it curiously before she made a point to hold onto that.It had a real zing to the scent which prompted her to pick up and orange as well. In fact, the pineapple also followed that real zingy scent that was driving her nose wild, so it was picked up as well!
She seemed to puzzle over what else to pick up on top of those three items, before she gave the booberries a sniff as well. They smelled rather tame and mild to her. Perhaps a nice counterbalance to all the zing? She took a moment to smell the four items she'd picked up together to see if they smelled much better to her as a group.
... .....
Would the Horsemen even care how they smelled? Still, at least they kinda looked nice together. She guessed.
She was bad at the fruit thing.

Sheridan had been standing with his arms crossed and his eyes narrowed, an expression on his face that may have made it clear he had absolutely no interest whatsoever in the subject of the class. Snort, welcoming the horsemen, why should they welcome those who had proven themselves far from trustworthy into their midst. Would they have been so welcoming to humans or hunters? Of course they wouldn't have! And yet those they knew so little about, those whose true motives and loyalties were completely hidden had been welcomed with open arms. Well, when (if) the horsemen turned on them, he wouldn't be among those caught off guard.
And yet, for all the grumpiness in his expression, the twitching of his tail betrayed a sense of interest, perhaps one of curious anticipation. The tuft of his tail flicked back and forth, like a cat watching the mouse hole for something to emerge, as if he were waiting to see just what would happen, though if asked what he thought that was he would not have been able to answer.
A brow raised as the 'instructor' entered the room, followed by the parade of gnomes carrying even more fruit. Dear jack, how many baskets did she expect them to make?
Uncrossing his arms, he stepped toward the table, pausing for a moment as he caught sight of Angenora and with a smile walked over to her.
"Hey."
A friendly wave and a hug, he settled at the table beside her, looking over the piles of fruit. He sniffed at the fruit, examining it with curiosity, though he made no attempts, nor did he have the desire to, at tasting it. Not that he was opposed to fruits, he did in fact enjoy them at times, but he wasn't especially interested in trying these at that moment. Now if there had been spookies or cupcakes? That would have been an entirely different matter.
"Think they brought enough fruit?"
It wasn't a serious question, but rather one of good natured sarcasm, it seemed to him there was more than enough fruit here and would have been even if the class had had twice as many participants.
After several moments of further examination, Sheridan at last chose a basket and then began to select his fruit. The starfruit in particular caught his attention, as much in name as in shape, their color he also found intriguing. After that he chose a pineapple and prickly pear, giving no thought to what they might have tasted like, but instead on their appearance, the spinyness seemed fitting to him. Uncertain of what to choose for the fourth item just yet, he resolved to decide that later and began arranging the items he had into the basket.
In the center he placed the large pineapple, while he carefully arranged the prickly pears on either side, one shorter than the other so that the items made three tiers of varying levels. Atop of each of the tiers he placed a piece of cut star fruit, pausing to admire its shape before doing so. The remaining star fruit he place along the base of the pineapple and prickly pears and then stopped to look over the entire piece. Hmm, there was certainly something missing, his fourth item, but what? Perhaps something to fill in the center section. Ah yes, a bunch of grapes will fill that place perfectly. Choosing a rather large bunch of grapes, he placed it in the center of the basket so that it was flanked by the pineapple, prickly pears, and star fruit.
Satisfied, he looked over his basket with a nod, then pushed it toward the center of the table.

So, they had to make fruit baskets yes? Looking at the choices, the wolfos blinked. Stared. Blinked. Stared. Fruit baskets. He'd never put one together before and wasn't really sure what one put in aside from..fruit. Or rather, he wasn't sure if the fruit has some kind of meaning. Did pumpkins symbolize fertility? Booberries, one's frightful appearance? Boafox cherries... for fluffy? He picked a lemon out and sniffed it before setting it back.
The gnomes looked at him like he'd been about to eat it. Really, like he'd eat a lemon. He was more interested in the oranges and starfruits. Oranges could be used to make orange juice so maybe they symbolized a fresh start? Starfruits... to symbolize star.. power? Frost in the Storm shrugged, grabbing them both.
One fruit he'd never seen before. It smelled sweet and had a rather prickly shell and stiff leaves at the top. It was heavy and rather oval. Horsemen would like this? Maybe. He added is lopsidedly to his basket. Maybe it meaned... Din's tit he hadn't any clue but he wad trying. Picking booberries, he tossed those in as well. Why? Why not. Maybe they would be a good snack.

Fruit basket?! She smiled, happily nodding when they were given the instructions to make one; she had never put a fruit basket together before, but it sounded like a lot of fun! Besides, it was thoughtful of Moira to wish to welcome the horsemen into Halloween with the gift of fruit - with their home destroyed, they must be in need of resources, such as food.
Looking over the different fruits, she eventually settled on four fruits with rather distinct flavors - caramel apples, lemons, pineapples, and pumpkin. Once the fruits were chosen, she took her own sweet time to assemble her basket, doing her best to make it presentable.
She hoped that they would be given the opportunity to decorate it... This basket would look so much better with a ribbon or two.
