Was it the American version? (Is that already out?)

I watched all three Swedish movies and liked the first one quite a lot.
The rape scene was kinda unsettling. But not that bad, huh.

I am hoping for the American version to be at least SOMEWHAT good.
(I don't get my hopes up too much.)

Yeah I saw the American version. I heard that the first swedish version was good but not the other ones.

Which rape scenes? There were over 3 lol

I can only remember one. XD

The one with this guy who got her "I am an a*****e and rapist" (or something like this) tattoo in the end.

In the swedish version it was in the end? In the american version it was before she even met Blomkvist. Stayed truer to the book. But it was some awesome revenge.

Eh, I am not sure about the timeline anymore, it has been one or two years since I watched it.

But I do remember that she didn't give him that tattoo until a bit later, not right in the beginning.

Three rape scenes sound way too much for ONE movie, though.
Even if it is closer to the book.

There were actually more implied rape scenes o ao

And then Blomkvist was almost raped by a serial killer. But then Lisbeth beat him up.

Blomkvist was almost raped? Huh, now I really don't remember that.

I will have to read the books because the movie seemed to have left out quite a bit. 3nodding

The books are good in English, although they have weird translation. They're supposedly better in the native Swedish, but I liked the English versions well enough.

Waiting to see it, looks good, especially if they kept true to the books - despite my inability to plug through the last one, for whatever reason. gonk

However, I'm trying to come up with a friend who is the least-squicked-out by things. It looks like an uncomfortable movie to watch with wussy/easily-shocked friends, y'know?

Hm, I'd rather read them in German, I guess.

Swedish > German is closer than Swedish > English, I THINK.

Yeah, it's a movie that you might not want to see with anyone. Nonsquicked friends should be good tho.

They're long books! and could be difficult to get through. I mean rape and murder.

Ah yeah... my attention span is short when it comes to books.

I will try.

I kind of want to see that movie, but idk, rape in movies is often presented pretty voyeuristically and/or it makes me anxious because, y'know, the world is a scary place. I had a hard enough time getting through Black Swan because of the creepy director guy. D:
