YEAR 1 JOURNAL ENTRIES
SOLO
Neil and his parents had spent a good portion of the day setting up his dorm. There still was a lot to move in and a ton of boxes that needed unpacking. Right now the gimblewolves room resembled more of a storage unit then an actual room. But some where under all the mess was an actual room. Some where. Right now, Neil didn't care to find it.
He'd said his good byes to his parents earlier that day. In truth, he some what missed them already but the gimblewolf wasn't about to admit that to anyone. Let alone him self. No, especially him self.
It wasn't like they were dead. He'd see them on break. He wasn't some pup that ran to his parents with his tail between his legs. Nope.
Neil was back in his room and just staring at the stacks of boxes. The canine wasn't even sure where to begin. His bed was already unpacked and that was what mattered most to Neil at least. The rest of the stuff could slowly come out of the boxes over the course of the week, or weeks. It didn't matter.
It was when the canine pulled a blanket from one of the many boxes did a piece of paper float out as if by magic. It landed face up on Neils naked mattress. He was about to just go ahead and crumple it and throw it away, but then he saw the hand writing and name. Akubi? Neil picked it up and scanned the letter up and down. He read it four or five times before he finally smirked
"You are so cheesy Akubi," His ears flattened some. Talking to him self? That was an age old tell tale sign of being crazy right?
That was just a minor thought though. Right now, Neil was trying to remember what box contained his school supplies. He wasted no time digging through box after box before he finally found a note book and a pencil. He'd gone through half the room just to find such ordinary objects. But it was worth it.
Now the next problem was his desk wasn't put together yet. So, Neil had to result to laying on the floor on his belly. He tapped his pencil to his cheek as he thought of what he'd say to that trouble making unlucky cat.
Starting it off with something like 'Hey Bro' seemed a bit to cliche to him. Part of him felt a bit ghoul like as he actually pondered a witty way to write back to his friend. Keeping pen pals seemed like something a ghoul would do... But this was Akubi so it wasn't that lame right? Right. No one had to know.
Finally pencil met paper.
Akubi,
Was what he finally came up with. Blunt. To the point. He liked that.
You sure are an annoyance you know that? I don't know how you even managed to sneak this letter in but you never stop amazing me with your sly ways. You sure are a punk. You know that?
But I'm glad. I'm a little home sick already and its not even been a full day. So far the Academy seems really lame. My room is all boxes right now. I had to dig through all my stuff just to write to you. So the mess in my room I blame on you. Cause right now Im not cleaning it up.
Neil frowned down at the letter. He tapped his pencil rhytmatically trying to think of a way not to sound like a twelve year old ghoul ranting about nothing. He frowned more.
You better not say good bye. I'd be pissed if you did. Its never good bye between us.
But. Keep it real while I'm away and keep on causing extra trouble while I'm not there.
- Neil
Neil stared down at his letter and was partly tempted to erase the its never good bye between us. That sounded like something some one would write out to a ghoul friend or something after a corny breakup. Neil was quick to scratch it out the best he could.
Its never good bye between us.
There. Now he didn't sound like a dork. Still. It was true. Good byes never really stuck when you were good friends with some one. Neil found an envelope and quickly sealed the letter in it.
Neil felt lonely the moment he sealed that letter. He really was a bout to send off a letter to his good friend. Because Akubi wasn't here. Akubi was far away and back home. He wasn't 'gone' but he wasn't here. It just wasn't the same with out him. This box filled room didn't help the loneliness.
Was he actually sad that Akubi wasn't here? Yup. But Neil didn't shed a tear. He wouldn't. That was what lesser boils did and Neil was by no means a lesser boil. Akubi wasn't dead, he hoped, he was just back home. Yeah. And the little punk had managed to sneak this jackin letter to him so there was no telling how capable he was to sneak him self to this school.
Neil smiled. He'd send the letter off tomorrow and hopefully Akubi wouldn't call him a dork.
