*is a classical nerd* blaugh heart
I studied "classical" music history in University. I'm a classical singer myself, so I'm a bit biased towards opera, but I also like orchestral stuff. I'm a HUGE Sibelius fan. People, if you haven't heard Sibelius' Symphonies, ...you are missing out big time. Mahler is also pretty darn cool. As for opera, I like just about everything, but lately I've been really into Verdi, Wagner, and Berg. Puccini is nice, Mozart is a good old standby, and Handel is also one of my faves (also good, from a singing perspective). Classical music is cool!!!!! 3nodding

I personally favor Romantic period, (mostly since the titles are more creative, and I can tell them apart ^^) I like to play Burgmuller, and I played a REALLY COOL sonata by Scarlatti (Baroque), and one by Cimarosa (Classical) (see what I mean by the names? I always mix them up... oh, by the way, both Sonata composers were named Domenico. ??) In my piano Certificate of Merit program thingy, I have to play 4 songs, one from each time period: Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Comtemporary. This year I'm playing a Bach peice, another Sonata by Haydn, a Waltz by Schubert, and a Toccata by Kabalevsky.
