Hey thar sceney gal. =] I'm Katie and I haven't got a style. I'm just me. "Oregonian" might be a style itself, though. Jeans, t-shirts, and a good parka! (not during summer, of course. then you can sort of tell us all apart! : D )
Hipsters are, essentially, "unhip." Originally they shunned the mainstream ideals, media, and sexually-hyped trends. They took to indie, often androgynous fashions and cultural-minded activities. (art shows, coffee shops, jam sessions, etc..) However, since it's become "hip" and more "mainstream" to appear less materialistic and egocentric, many of the once-untrendy hipster qualities are now, well, incredibly fashionable. Overwhelming amounts of over-sized plaid button-ups, pre-distressed tight jeans, and funky shades are all derived from the original hipsters. This, to me, is incredibly ironic, since the whole movement scorned the conformist way of thought and dress of the 90's, yet now a newer generation of "yuppie hipsters" are unwittingly buying into it just to fit in. Really, really buying into it. Hipsters spent maybe 5 bucks on a pair of old worn-down jeans from a thrift store...yet now brainwashed teenagers purchase pre-distressed denim from music-blaring boutiques for $70 and up. Not to mention the idiotic, oversized fake glasses and thinly-sewn plaid that will fall apart in a few months yet cost way more than the actually useful fleece plaid that can last for years. [/rant]

Absolutely true. (Which reminds me of a teacher I had in high school, who spent $200 on pre-washed out/ripped jeans and later confessed this in shame. Poor guy.) The fake glasses are so silly, too. Why those even exist will always remain a mystery to me...
Which reminds me of something I once read about Urban Outfitters - something along the lines of "it's like a thrift store, but you pay ten times as much just to avoid the 'old clothes' smell." Boy is that true.

Alabamaa I'm.. I dunno. I get called so many things it's crazy. If I had to describe myself in a social group I'd be.. idk, a redneck, a metalhead, and a butch without the gay. Oh.. and cartoon artist. Real cartoons btw, no anime, ******** that. I'm a trademark person. Arrogant or not, I've never met anyone else like me. And neither has anyone else I know. But I have met 1 person that looked like me. Which was odd. I've never met a 'scene' kid that I liked. Then again, I've only seen them in middle school. Stupid label cliqueshit died out as soon as I started high school, thank god. No offense. oo i would like to see chur art :3
ima cool person and none taken :3

The best way to sum it up: Hipsters try really hard to look like they don't try at all (ex: in my case, spending ridiculous amounts of money on cheap-looking flannel shirts) and they start trends that they later dismiss when popular.
I'm kind of an accidental hipster, though. I mean - I like the clothes I like, but having thick black glasses, short hair, skinny jeans and v-necks tends to make me look like the epitome of all things hipster. x__x
your style sounds pretty awesome :3
