The Horus Heresy appears to be hot these days. A few years ago Sabretooth Games did a CCG series based around the Heresy, followed by the Black Library collecting the art together and kicking off a definite series of novels and audio books with the intent of telling the history of the Heresy as it happened, with Alan Merrett, lore master of the 40k verse, at the helm. Just a few months ago FFG re-released the Horus Heresy boardgame and now Forge World is releasing Heresy-era power armour sets with weapons to go!

Again, the Horus Heresy is hot! So why not have a thread where those interested can talk about the events surrounding it, the novels and whatever else fits into the whole thing?

We've got at least one confirmed resident Horus Heresy fan who has all the novels alongside the Collected Visions of the Horus Heresy, which is the "Bible" that the authors adhere to when it comes to their telling of the Heresy.

So, feel free to ask away and discuss!

You do know they are making the books for it, right?
Yes, I see that you didn't read my post all that well, as I link to the novel range. wink

Caught me XDDD I'm a person that skims, not fully reads (probably why I miss a couple of vital parts in books).

not such necromancy last post was less than month ago, it was hibernating rather than dead thread...

This thread is far from dead, so no necromancy took place, just a poorly timed post.

Just finished up on reading the First Heretic, a solid addition to the Horus Heresy series, though it does leave quite a few things open to interpretation. However, it does take us places. And shows us things. We're shown a new sort of Primarch: Lorgar. We're also shown just who are responsible for the corruption of so many.

Spoilers, highlight at your own risk.
* The Word Bearers discover Cadia and find out that the first Cadians are Chaos worshipping savages.

* The Legion undertakes its first tests into the Eye of Terror, with disastrous results that go back to the birth of the Primarchs.

* The first cases of Astartes possessed by daemons are recorded.

* The Drop Pod Massacre is shown from a different angle.

Death to the False Emperor.

On the release list right now are:

- Garro: Oath of the Moment: In surviving the horrors on board the Eisenstein, Nathaniel Garro proved his courage and absolute loyalty to the Emperor. On his return to Terra, Garro is despatched on a mission of even greater importance – a mission given to him by Malcador the Sigillite himself. He soon finds himself back amongst the stars and on the fields of battle, thrust into a warzone where the Ultramarines battle a greenskin invasion. Once again Garro must fight for survival, but now he also fights to achieve a higher purpose... This is an audio drama.

- Prospero Burns: The Emperor is enraged. Primarch Magnus the Red of the Thousand Sons Legion has made a terrible mistake that endangers the very safety of Terra. With no other choice, the Emperor charges Leman Russ, Primarch of the Space Wolves, with the apprehension of his brother from the Thousand Sons home world of Prospero. This planet of sorcerers will not be easy to overcome, but Russ and his Space Wolves are not easily deterred. With wrath in his heart, Russ is determined to bring Magnus to justice and bring about the fall of Prospero. This is the other side to A Thousand Sons.

- Garro: Legion of One: Nathaniel Garro, loyalist Death Guard, and hero of the Eisenstein, has found a new calling in his service to the Emperor. Surrounded by a cloak of secrecy, Garro travels the galaxy in pursuit of his new goal. His quest will lead him to heart of the most destructive warzones, and reveal a secret that will change the course of the Horus Heresy itself... This is an audio drama.

- Age of Darkness: After the betrayal at Isstvan, Horus begins his campaign against the Emperor, a galaxy-wide war that can lead only to Terra. But the road to the final confrontation between father and son is a long one – seven years filled with secrecy and silence, plans and foundations being formed across distant stars. An unknown history is about to be unveiled as light is shed on the darkest years of the Horus Heresy, and revelations will surface that will shake the Imperium to its very foundation... This is an anthology novel.

Things seem to have slowed down a bit on the Horus Heresy front. Only three releases next year, of which one is an anthology novel. My guess is that they are having another meeting soon to discuss what needs to be tackled in the next batch of novels.

I did notice that all novels have a unique secondary title (Horus Rising has The seeds of heresy are sown). Care to list them all? wink

The Ultramarines story will be written by Graham McNeill and Gav Thorpe will be writing the Raven Guard story. The only stories nothing is known about are Liar's Due and the Last, which both have no legions listed nor give any insight as to what it might be about.

Liar's Due will most likely be about the Blood Angels.

Who is John French though?

The Last could refer to Iacton Qruze the remaining Loyal member of the Luna Wolves. remember he declared himself a member of the Luna Wolves and not the Sons of Horus
