I adore Diana Wynne Jones. She's one of my top favorites.

Hexwood, Howl's Moving Castle, and Fire and Hemlock are way up there on my list of books never to part with.

Time of the Ghost is one creepy book.

Her work is a bit uneven, truth to tell, with some books well above "genius" level and some just hitting "entetaining," but an author that is always at least entertaining is well worth following!

The exception: Her books written for adults are not as good. I read somewhere that she thinks adults are less intelligent as readers than children are and that is really how the 2 adult novels read--flat & over-extended.

@Shadow: Is interlibrary loan a possibility?

Hmmm, maybe... ^.^

@ BookofShadows: I don't think so, but I suppose I could ask...

I started with the Dark Lord of Derkholm and The Year of the Griffin. I loved them so much, they are hilarious. The I read the Chronicles of Chrestomanci and Howl's Moving Castle.

I was really pleased with Howl's Moving Castle everyone told me that Studio Gibli's film version was really different from the book, so I had to see for myself. I loved it, heart the book filled in a lot of blank spaces and I really enjoyed it. I heard there was a sequel I'll have to check it out.

The Christomancy series was a really interesting series, it's been a while but I remember picking it up because they compared it to Harry Potter (although it was completely different to me) The concept of multiple lives and other such fanciful stuff was really facinating.

Haven't read any of the other books, but that's only a matter of time. ninja

The sequel is, IMHO, not as good as the first book. Decent, but not up to Castle's standard.

I read the Chrestomanci books a long time ago, but I also have a few other books by her.

My two favorites though, are Howl's Moving Castle, and Castle in the Air, by far. I wanted to see the movie, but I live so far out in the boonies it wasn't plausible. I'll have to wait for the DVD. March 7th! blaugh

I just realized something.... No one's mentioned Deep Secret. (I don't think I did, either. n.n") Has anyone else read it? I rather liked it. It was interesting.
