He also played French Horn, piano, trumpet - very talented musician. Also did the cover art for the band albums. But stereotypical rocker, drugs got the better of him the day before The Who was to kick off their 2002 Reunion tour. Cocaine induced heart attack. *Shakes head.* Bless YouTube, amazing what you can find there.

You can find a lot of information on him from Wikipedia and YouTube, plus feedback from Pete Townsend and Roger Daltrey. It sounds like he might have blamed himself some for Keith Moon's OD. Sad story, he wanted to be successful, but seemed to sabotage himself whenever he got close to it. It definitely wasn't a suicide, though. Weirdly enough, he wrote/released a song called "Love is a Heart Attack" in 83 that could have been a premonition of his death.
Some of the best artists seem to struggle with their talent and finding middle ground.

i played trumpet for 12 years, i play bass, i can drum but have no drumset and i sing for my band
i wish i could play and sing at the same time but its so hard

I play piano, tuba (I'm alright at low brass altogether..), a little bass, organ, and percussion.

Of... a sort, yes. I play a very classic form of flute on occasion.
