▹ ▸ The Lil DevilKaoru smiled lightly as Hikaru played along and when the girls left, Kaoru sighed, looking at his brother. "Hikaru..." He looked back over at Haruhi as her customers left as well and she stood, walking over to them. The club was starting to die down in it's activity and so, Haruhi came over to them. Kaoru smiled brightly at her. "Haruhi! Hey, you wanna go out for ice cream now?"
"Huh? But aren't the shops closed?"
"Nope! We still have some time left before the ice cream shops close up!" Haruhi thought for a minute.
"Well... I guess it wouldn't hurt..." She smiled. "Alright then, I'll go and get changed." With that, she turned to go change out of her her clothes and into something normal. Kaoru grinned at Hikaru before it turned into a smirk.
"Isn't that great? We get to go out with Haru--"
"What are you twins doing to my daughter?!" demanded Tamaki, running up to them and shaking them.
"Nothing, Boss!"

H i k a r u - H i t a c h i i nHikaru blinked in quiet surprise when Kaoru asked Haruhi to some ice cream. Of course, with him asking Haruhi right there in the middle of the music room, it probably would end up being a club trip. Hani-senpai would want to go because ice cream was sweet. Mori-senpai would then go to protect Hani. Tamaki would go because of his 'daughter.' And Kaoru would go to make sure that they didn't get too out of line. And something about the fact that this was turning out to be a club trip actually bugged Hikaru. He didn't like the fact that everyone was going. Three was enough. They didn't need a whole entourage just to go and get some ice cream! Hikaru got up and reached down a hand to pull up Kaoru also without actually waiting for his brother to take his hand.
"Yeah! It's awesome..." Hikaru replied, though not sure if he meant his words. And since Kaoru was his twin, it would be obvious to Kaoru, even if everyone else completely missed his slightly less energetic tone.
It was just that he wasn't sure how he felt at the moment. He didn't understand why he didn't like everyone coming along. And for some reason, he found that he just wanted to be alone with Haruhi. God this confused Hikaru greatly. In the end, he decided not to think about it and just try to find as much fun in this as possible.
Turning to Tamaki, Hikaru stuck out his tongue and added to his twin's words. "We're just stealing her away from your perverted mind!" Laughing after he finished teasing Tamaki—who had turned red and then went off to a corner to sulk—Hikaru turned to Kaoru. "We should go change too."((Sorry for the fail post... ▹ ▸ The Lil DevilHe took his brother's hand and was helped up. He smiled and then pulled his hand away before he laughed with his brother with teasing Tamaki. It was so much fun to tease the king.
He nodded with Hikaru's suggestion to get changed. He walked towards the changing rooms and changing into the clothes. Ah, it seemed better in the uniforms.
Once he changed into his outfit, he waited for his brother before locating Haruhi. "Haruhi!" He went over to her with his brother. "Come on! Let's go before everyone follows us!" He grabbed Hikaru's wrist and Haruhi's wrist. "Now start moving!" He pushed the two ahead. He knew what Hikaru thought of Haruhi. They were twins.
He would stay behind the two while this happened. He walked out with themand then watched.
"So... Kaoru, why did you do this?"
"I just think that it'll be a great thing! For us! You know, to get out and have fun!" He smiled and put his hands behind his head as they exited the school.

H i k a r u - H i t a c h i i nHikaru changed quickly himself, coming out quickly. But before he could say much, or even fix his tie correctly, Hikaru found himself pulled off by his twin, who was pulling Haruhi along also. Hikaru found himself just the tiniest bit jealous that it was his brother who currently clasped Haruhi's hand, and not himself. Of course, Hikaru knew that there weren't any actual feelings behind it, but still, he couldn't help but be a little selfish.
As they slowed down, having gotten far enough from the club room, Hikaru couldn't help but feel that he was perhaps too keenly aware of his brother's hand and Haruhi's. This was getting to the point of being quite over the top. Hikaru knew that he would have to do something about this soon, otherwise he wouldn't be able to stand it if Haruhi was snatched away. When did he ever grow to like Haruhi so much?
"So... Kaoru, why did you do this?"
Hikaru felt a little pang that the first time Haruhi spoke with them, it was to his brother. Still, Hikaru reminded himself that there was good reason behind that, and that nothing was implied by that at all. As Kaoru replied, Hikaru walked on the other side of Haruhi, glad that no hands were touching at the moment. Well, at least glad that no hands between Kaoru and Haruhi were touching. Between himself and Haruhi was a different matter altogether.
Hikaru smirked at his brother's words, pushing his jealousy and love aside to reply in his usual teasing way. "And it's also because it's fun to see the king so flustered and worked up. He'll think we're kidnapping you to a brothel or something." Hikaru laughed at his remark, knowing that it was probably all too true. Tamaki was probably going into absolute overload at the moment, trying to convince Kyoya to call in the special forces and chase after them.
Haruhi turned to Hikaru, about to reply in her sweet tone when instead, she stopped walking and reached both hands out to Hikaru. Hikaru froze, not sure what was happening. Why did Haruhi suddenly stop? Was there food on his face? Hikaru didn't dare breathe as he observed Haruhi with a cautious but slightly lusting expression. He was sure that his brother could tell over Haruhi's shoulder just what he was currently feeling. Haruhi started fixing Hikaru's tie, which hadn't been done correctly in his haste.
"Hikaru, you'll never get anywhere good in life if you can't tie ties," she reprimanded with a smile as she finished fixing it. Hikaru wasn't sure what to say, hoping that his brother would see his flustered distress and come to the rescue.((Happy belated birthday! It's all right. ▹ ▸ The Lil DevilKaoru laughed with Hikaru at the remark about the brothel. He also knew that it would be all too true. Tamaki always over reacted over anything that had to do with Haruhi. When he heard Haruhi's and Hikaru's footsteps stop, he blinked and turned around, looking over at his shoulder, stopping as well, and he saw what went on between the two.
For some reason, Kaoru couldn't help but feel a little jealous. Why? He had no idea. He quickly noticed Hikaru's face and quickly moved over to Haruhi's side. "Wow, Haruhi! You noticed that? Man, even I didn't! You got a sharp eye for these things! Now, look! The ice cream shop!" He turned her away, by wrapping his arm around Haruhi and turning her away from Hikaru. He then looked over his shoulder at his brother and gave him a glance that said:
'You owe me one...'
"So, Haruhi, what would you like to have on your ice cream? Any flavor! I'll buy!" Haruhi looked up at the orders for a while.
"Hmm... Let's see... I'll take a scoop of strawberry and a scoop of chocolate. Sprinkles, please." Kaoru laughed and nodded.
"You got it!" He ordered the three of them their ice cream, already knowing what Hikaru wanted and then paid, giving Haruhi her ice cream first and then going over to Hikaru, handing him his ice cream. "Here. Your favorite." He smiled at him and then patted Hikaru's tie.

H i k a r u - H i t a c h i i nHikaru felt himself breathe an inward sigh of relief when Kaoru intervened. He was so thankful that he had a twin. Rarely did he curse his twinhood with Kaoru. Actually, he couldn't even remember one instance when he didn't like having a twin, especially Kaoru as a twin. They were just so... well, together that disliking Kaoru would be like disliking himself.
Hikaru looked up and saw Kaoru give him the you-owe-me-one look. He smiled brightly and nodded, his form of a rascally thank you. Hikaru bounded up behind them and took his cone. He would try to pay Kaoru back later, though he was usually the broke twin (broke being used in relative terms. They always had money in the house, but Hikaru seemed to always be without money when he needed it.) Kaoru would most likely refuse repayment as always and say something about repayment being Hikaru's torment of their King.
Hikaru noted subconsciously Haruhi's ice-cream flavors and style, a little miffed that he didn't get to pay for Haruhi's—even if he couldn't anyways, considering his pockets were empty as usual. But hey, it was the thought that counted.
Getting a good idea, Hikaru leaned over so that he was looking slightly sideways and up at both Kaoru and Haruhi and asked with a roguish smile, "We should go to the flower maze on the other side of the clock tower!" It had been a while since Hikaru had been there with a smaller group than the whole Host Club, and he found the notion nice and relaxing. Not to mention the fact that he really was itching to give a flower to Haruhi, even if she would take it in a completely platonic way. He could deal with that... for now. And yes, for now, seeing Haruhi happy and surrounded by flowers was enough for him.
Without really waiting for an answer, Hikaru turned and started walking, calling over his shoulder, "If I beat you there, Kaoru, you sleep on the couch."((I forgot if I ever asked you this, but are you a college student, or a high school student?)) L i t t l e - D e v i l

▹ ▸ The Lil DevilThe flower maze? Why there? Hmm... maybe because Hikaru... wanted to see Haruhi around the flowers?Well, either way, he was cut off from his thoughts when Hikaru challeneged him. "Ah, Hikaru! I can't run with ice-cream! And if I spill it, you're buying me a new one!" he yelled to his brother. "But if I win, then YOU sleep on the couch!"
He slightly ran to keep up with his brother before turning around and laughing at Haruhi. "Come on, Haruhi! Don't want you to get left behind!" Kaoru winked at her before she, too, joined in on the race.
Soon, they reached the flower garden and Kaoru sighed, softly. He had won. "Ha! I beat you, Hikaru!" He took a lick out of his ice cream that started to melt. It was quiet here...
Haruhi ran up to them and blinked. "You two are always fighting for something," she said, softly, laughing a little before looking to Hikaru. "So... why'd you choose here?"
"Because maybe its too pretty here?" he asked, looking at his twin.

H i k a r u - H i t a c h i i n"Teme," Hikaru murmured fondly toward his brother for having beaten him. "We'll see who really gets the couch when we get back home." Admittedly, he was breathing just a tiny bit harder than usual, for the run was short, but he had been trying his best to beat Kaoru. Too bad that Kaoru always happened to be just a tiny bit faster than Hikaru, though most people barely even noticed that much. But anyways, they would definitely decide when they got home. Hikaru had meant it all in jest though, and he was pretty sure that his brother had too—meaning that no one belonged on the couch tonight. He would miss his brother's warmth, even though he'd never admit it. That would just be... awkward, except for when they were trying to do their job as hosts.
"So... Why'd you choose here? Because maybe it's too pretty here?"
Hikaru glanced up at Haruhi instead of Kaoru. Haruhi was off gazing at a butterfly that had landed on her finger. So stereotypical Haruhi. She was such a gentle person at heart that even the most fragile of creatures felt safe in her hands—literally. Hikaru smiled fondly and rather longingly at Haruhi, glad that she was too enraptured in the butterfly to notice his staring. "Yeah... Absolutely beautiful," he murmured, thinking completely of Haruhi and not the place itself. It was obvious in his tone and face what he had meant also, at least, to those who were listening. Haruhi probably wouldn't understand.
And... of course, she didn't. Haruhi looked up and the butterfly flew off. Hikaru, on a side note, felt that the flowers behind her framed her perfectly and complimented her already gorgeous complexion quite a bit. Hikaru averted his gaze slightly, hoping that Haruhi hadn't notied his staring. She didn't, and he breathed out a sigh of relief quietly. "It really is pretty! I think we should definitely have club here more often," she readily agreed. Hikaru nodded, not having heard half of what she had said, for he was far too focused on watching her full lips move as words passed by them. "Speaking of which, I think we should get back. Tamaki will be throwing a fit, and he'll probably break something, and then I'll probably somehow be blamed and therefore put in more debt..."
Hikaru blinked. That was pretty abrupt. So much for his image of a warm day spent with Haruhi among the flowers and sunlight. And why the hell did she have to think about Tamaki now of all times? God the king made him so jealous sometime. Tamaki could have anyone at all and Hikaru would be fine with it—anyone but Haruhi, that is. Hikaru finished off his ice-cream, having Hikaru's Super Speed Ice Cream Digestion Power, and nodded. "Aww, but don't you like being in the club with us?" he asked, pouting in a joking manner. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he sort of felt bad that he was paying barley any attention to his brother, but they had plenty of time to spend together otherwise, right? And plus, Kaoru of all people would understand...L i t t l e - D e v i l

▹ ▸ The Lil DevilAs Hikaru answered the question, Kaoru watched him, his eyes softening slightly. He knew that Hikaru was staring and talking about Haruhi, except she didn't notice that. When she brought up Tamaki, Kaoru also nodded. Yeah, it would be good to get back before the King threw a fit. He ate his ice cream before looking at Hikaru.
"Yeah, what's wrong with you? We're much more fun than the king!" He smiled at her, softly, finishing his ice cream, flinching as he got a brain freeze.
"Ah, Kaoru? Are you okay?"
"Y-Yeah, I'm fine. J-Just... a brain freeze, that's all." He smiled, lightly, at her and she sighed, softly.
"This is why you don't eat your ice cream so fast..." she muttered before turning around and walking ahead. Kaoru looked over at Hikaru, a hand over his eye and on his forehead as he groaned again, having the attack hit him again. He hated brain freezes. They sucked. As he looked back at Hikaru, he sighed, softly. Even though he knew that Hikaru was... in love with Haruhi, Kaoru was... a little jealous. Hikaru kept paying more attention to Haruhi each day at club.
The two grew up being close to each other... and then things changed... And now Hikaru had feelings for Haruhi... and it seemed that their bond together kept getting smaller and smaller. Kaoru didn't like that, for a strange reason. x Kaoru Hitachiin ◀ ◁

H i k a r u - H i t a c h i i nHikaru was a little torn—he couldn't believe that he was actually torn—between following Haruhi and finally getting a little time to themselves without Kaoru, or waiting for Kaoru to finish his brain freeze, possibly assist Kaoru in any way that he could. Hikaru had never really been faced with this issue before. Before Haruhi, no one could ever make Hikaru even think of doing something else other than assisting his brother. But now there was Haruhi, and Hikaru couldn't even comprehend the fact that he was actually considering following Haruhi. But Kaoru... He'd understand, right? Yeah. Of course he would. It was obvious how Hikaru felt... Well, at least Hikaru knew it'd be obvious to his twin. So Kaoru would understand if Hikaru chose Haruhi just this once, right? Of course Kaoru would. Yeah.
Hikaru felt just the tiniest bit of queasiness at his decision, but he figured that it was more the newness of it all—choosing someone else over his twin, that is—rather than guilt or something like that. Kaoru could take care of himself. And it was just a little brainfreeze after all. Kaoru would surely understand... Plus, they were twins. They lived together. They spent plenty of time together anyways. A little time away from each other would be good, right? Right.
With that justification, Hikaru ran after Haruhi, yelling with a laugh, "Oi! Wait up!" He didn't even turn around to give one look back at Kaoru. As he had thought before, Kaoru could surely take care of one little brainfreeze, right? Right.
Haruhi turned back to see Hikaru chasing her. She gave no acknowledgment or smile or anything such; her eyes just followed Hikaru as Hikaru finally caught up to her. "Where's Kaoru?"
It stung a little that the first thing Haruhi asked Hikaru was about Hikaru's twin. Hiding his wince a little better than he thought eh ever could, Hikaru managed a smile and small laugh.
"He'll be all right. The brain freeze monster's got him."
Haruhi raised one quizzical eyebrow and looked right at Hikaru. It was a little odd for Hikaru to be leaving his brother in distress, considering how they acted around one another in the club. Perhaps that was all only for the girls... Then again, on even private club outings they seemed to act pretty close too. Hence, Haruhi thought that Hikaru by her side without Kaoru neaby was quite odd. But of course, she let it pass.
"Whatever. Tamaki's probably throwing a hissy fit. We should hurry up."
Again, it stung that Haruhi was thinking about some other male—one who obviously had some sort of love for her, though Hikaru wasn't sure if it was platonic or not... probably not. But Hikaru let it pass again. He'd get closer to Haruhi through his own means. They had plenty of time. At least another year together. Hikaru would start making moves on Haruhi soon enough...(Oho! Let the jealousy begin!)) L i t t l e - D e v i l

▹ ▸ The Lil Devil... No way...
Did Kaoru hear and see this right? Hikaru... with a laugh and not a look back at him... ran off for Haruhi. He watched them, stunned, as he tried to call out to Hikaru, he couldn't. His voice wasn't there. Why? When they were out of sight, Kaoru was still standing there. He fell to his knees, his brain-freeze leaving him, but somehow, there was a pain that, for the first time in his life, Hikaru chose someone over Kaoru... He sat there for a while, staring blankly at the ground. Was his love for Haruhi that great that he would do that? He moved to wrap his knees close to his body, resting his forehead on them. This shouldn't be bothering him this much... But it was.
What's going on?
--
"Haruhi!!" Arms wrapped around the female as she walked in with Hikaru. "Oh, I hope those mean twins didn't do anything to you!"
"I'm fine, Senpai! Really! We just went for ice cream and a walk in the garden!" The walk with Haruhi and Hikaru was... a little quiet. There were words exchanged some times, but mostly quiet. And then they had to hurry up inside because it had begun to drizzle before pouring. Luckily, they had gotten inside before it started pouring. Tamaki finally pulled away from Haruhi and blinked.
"Hey, Hikaru..."
"Where's Kao-chan?" asked Hunny. Still not there yet, Kaoru? Still outside?
"I'm here..." Except as Kaoru walked inside the club room, he stopped at the entrance... soaking wet. He looked at his brother for a split second before going in and grabbing his things. "I'm going home. I'm not feeling all that well." Part truth. Truth was, he just didn't want to look at Hikaru and Haruhi together at the moment.

H i k a r u - H i t a c h i i nHikaru had barely noticed that it had started to pour cats and dogs outside—worse than it had been when he had been out there with Haruhi running for cover—for his gaze had been resting on Haruhi for the majority of the time that that they had been back within the Music Room. His attentions were also occupied by the extreme jealousy that he suddenly felt toward Tamaki. What gave Tamaki the right to hug Haruhi so openly like that? And why was Haruhi not protesting? Hikaru fought back a frown as he gazed on the scene. Just as he was about to intervene, the King pulled away from Haruhi and addressed him.
Hey, Hikaru..." But Hunny finished the question. "Where's Kao-chan?"
Hikaru opened his mouth to answer, but found that he couldn't. All of a sudden he was gripped by this really strong sense of guilt, though he didn't understand why he felt it. Sure, he had left his brother behind, but it was only a brain freeze, and he wasn't going to die from it. And Kaoru knew how he felt about Haruhi anyways, so Kaoru would surely understand, right? Right... But why wasn't Hikaru convinced? Hikaru still felt like he was doing something terribly wrong, though he couldn't place his finger on what exactly... Finally, Hikaru managed to morph his expression into his usual stoic host expression and was about to reply with a characteristic shrug that he didn't know when Kaoru walked in the door behind him. Hikaru whirled around when he heard the voice from the door.
"I'm here..."
Hikaru looked over Kaoru's soaking wet figure and felt the gult stab at him even more. Perhaps the brain freeze wouldn't kill him, but maybe the pneumonia will. Hikaru's worried glance caught Kaoru's short split-second glance before Kaoru spoke.
"I'm going home. I'm not feeling all that well."
Hikaru stepped forward toward his brother, one hand slightly outreached. Hikaru's expression creased to a worried frown and he turned away from Kaoru. Giving one glance at Haruhi, who, he noted bitterly, was looking with such a gently caring expression at his brother. Hikaru surprised himself. Even at a time like this, he could feel such jealousy, and toward his own twin, at that. But Hikaru knew that his mind should have been on his brother. Though he was in love, or at least he wished that he was in love, since that meant that the love wasn't unrequited, Hikaru would value his brother more in the end. They had been together all of their lives, naturally, and all they had at times in the past were each other. No one could come in between that. And right now, Kaoru looked like he needed it.
Hikaru ran into the changing rooms and picked up all of Kaoru's and his own stuff. Of course Hikaru was planning on going with Kaoru. He didn't want Kaoru to be doing anything at all in this weather without someone else. Even for one of the Little Devil types, it was dangerous. Hikaru frowned as he thought about the possibility of Kaoru sick with pneumonia. That wouldn't happen. Hikaru would make sure of it.
Hikaru ran back out and shouldered his backpack, also intending to carry Kaoru's too. He had in his hand a large umbrella big enough for the both of them. "Kaoru..." He gave Kaoru a slightly pained expression that most people would just take as worry, though Kaoru would know that Hikaru had more to say later in private. "Let's go and get you home before you get any worse. I don't want you getting pneumonia or something." Approaching the door where Kaoru stood slowly, Hikaru turned to the King and said, "I'm leaving too." Then he turned and waved slightly to Haruhi, who was just staring at both the Hitachiins with a neutral, but slightly worried expression.L i t t l e - D e v i l

▹ ▸ The Lil DevilKaoru was silent. Silent because he didn't know what to think. Hikaru looked worried, but then he looked to Haruhi, causing Kaoru to wince a little. He stayed in his spot when Hikaru left and his golden-orange eyes followed him.
"Kaoru, why didn't you run to chase up to us afterwards?"
Haruhi? Kaoru felt a little... jealous of her. Hikaru was so in love with her... that he would abandon his own twin like that. He shook the thought off and then smiled at her, slightly. "Because you and Hikaru needed to be alone for a while." He then looked over towards his brother as he came out of the room with an umbrella and carrying all their things.
"Kaoru..." That voice, that look... All of them pointed to only one thing: They would have a talk later at home. Nodding, a little bit, Kaoru waved at the same time with Hikaru at the club, watching as Hunny waved to them, telling them to stay dry. Kaoru just smiled a little at him before walking through the halls and downstairs to the main entrance, his shoes squeaking with every step. He walked, in silence, with his brother and when they got outside and the umbrella was deployed, he stayed very close to his brother, not touching him, but still close enough that the umbrella fully sheilded him. He felt a small shiver as a wind passed by him.
Damn... Maybe he shouldn't have stayed out here? Perhaps he should have run to catch them when his brain freeze was gone.
He bit his lower lip and as they began to walk home, Kaoru finally looked up at his older twin, opening his mouth, but no words coming out. He had to think. What could he say?
"You... You could have stayed with them. I would have just come to get my things and then leave... You didn't have to--" he stopped to cough before continuing, "you didn't have to come home with me." x Kaoru Hitachiin ◀ ◁

H i k a r u - H i t a c h i i n"You... You could have stayed with them. I would have just come to get my things and then leave... You didn't have to—you didn't have to come home with me."
Hikaru had been trying to keep his gaze forward as they walked, since he didn't really know what was going on between them at that moment. Hikaru having left Kaoru behind for someone else was a first for both of them, and Hikaru wasn't sure if he was regretting it or not at the present moment. He just wasn't really feeling anything besides an unidentifiable queasiness.
When Kaoru spoke, Hikaru glanced over at his brother and immediately thought: So friggin' adorab—WHAT? For a moment, he stopped walking. But when Kaoru continued for a moment, getting a little caught in the rain—for the umbrella had stopped with Hikaru—Hikaru unfroze and continued on, trying to mentally shake the thought out of his head. Adorable? His brother? Really?
Finally gaining his right mind back, Hikaru remembered the cough. Even that little cough was so adorabl—GOD you've got to stop thinking that! Kaoru took off his jacket that he was wearing over his Ouran uniform and deftly draped it over Kaoru's shoulders without a second thought. Sure, it left him a little chilly, but this was what brothers do. They always did this for each other in the past, anyways. No different now, right?
Now. What to reply? "Kaoru... Of course I would come with you. You're my twin." Hikaru then turned to his twin with a slightly rascally smile and added, "Plus, you're getting sick. Then I'd have to stay home and take care of you." He stuck out his tongue at Kaoru, though there was an underlying apologetic look to his eyes. Hikaru subconsciously knew that he was very sorry for having left Kaoru behind to go after Haruhi, since he had basically let a girl come between them, but consciously, Hikaru had yet to realize such.L i t t l e - D e v i l
