A lot of my ideas for plots come from dreams I have. Couple that with an obsesion toward music, and a few scenes gradually start to form, and then I just go from there.

I've got a fantasy plot that I'm struggling with right now. Pretty much the only plot I have right now is: "He seems like a good guy, but he's really not. He eventually has to die." The rest of it is pretty character driven - pretty much a breif recap of a few of the character's lives until they meet up with this guy. It's giving me some problems.

Inspiring dreams- lucky for you! Most of the time I just wake up and think 'what the heck?'
Or maybe you just have completely wacky dreams too, but you get something out them anyway cause you're just clever like that.
And, I love stories that follow several characters as you get to see how they influence each other's lives (at least that what it sounds like you're doing. Correct me if I'm wrong).

Dreams are weird and wonderful. I find, if I have writer's block I go to bed and before I fall asleep, I ponder over the plot. Then sometimes, I dream of the next part. Weird but wonderful.

Thats completely awesome. I can't fall to sleep unless I let my mind completely relax and go where ever it wants to. So, thinking about my story just keeps me awake... Otherwise I would love to try that!

I start of with a basic idea and think of all the things that could happen. I pick one - the most likely thing to happen - and then think of all of the things that could go wrong, then write about it. Plot is just things going wrong and characters overcoming the obstacles.
