I tend to avoid reading yaoi or shounen ai in public because of the reactions I have to what I'm reading rofl

But if I'm around my friends, I read it, joke about it, blush over it, and tell my friends they can't read it to make them jealous ^^

Nah, I'm pretty shameless in private. I would only get embarrassed if I found out that my parents knew of my love for yaoi.

I have to admit, I am exactly the same way... my friends have told me I can have quite the dirty mind ^^;

I would mainly be embarrassed if my parents found out because they are both Christian and my dad is a bit of a homophobe. Doesn't matter that I am 22 and can make my own decisions, I would never hear the end of it.

I'm embarrassed to read yaoi manga and fanfic when my sisters are around. Still am. And I don't talk about yaoi much whenever my parents are within earshot.

However, my sisters and I watched Boku no Pico and Sensitive Pornograph together.
I really should stop being embarrassed.

It all depends on what I am doing.. with fanfiction it can get like that.. but when watching the yaoi it self i can get quite embaressed... hahaha....

Occasionally, I catch myself thinking not-so-appropriate thoughts, and sort of smack myself in the head and say "Holy s**t, you did not just think that!"
But most of the time, It's pretty cool :3 We're all entitled to our...guilty pleasures.

In fact, I feel more embarrassed when looking up videos of cute Asian boy bands x'D

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I sometimes get terrible second-hand embarrassment. Like, if I want to read a fanfic, but then I don't know if the writer is good or awful or if they'll mess up the characterisation terribly, then it's embarrassing because I know I once wrote a really, really bad fanfic and I can't stand reading something like that.
Seriously, this is just fanfic in general - whether it's gen, or slashy or a lemon, that's why I'd be bothered.
And when I'm not sure if a fic is good and it's in first person, I could die. I keep waiting for the writer to trip themselves up. Bad first person fanfics are just so... Messy, because you're sure that's not how the character would think to themselves.
Badfic makes me want to scream, too.
When I see a writer pulling out a hilariously cliched stock trope I want to hide my head in my hands. Or, or, if it's supposed to be a romantic scenario but it just seems silly. It makes me laugh, but I also feel like facepalming.
There are particular posting formats that send off alarm bells in my brain, as well as particular smilies. Strange and somewhat prejudicial, but true.

Of course, with most of these examples, I'm talking about something like a fanfic meme or the Phoenix Wright/Persona 4 kink meme, where the fic quality really does vary that crazily and there could be only one fic for a pairing that no-one ships and you force yourself to read it because you ship it and there's nothing else for it. =.= Even if it's truly awful and irredeemable. You just read it while still feeling like the biggest fool, and curse the writer when you've finished.

Yeah, I am little bit too old dog to be embarrased so easily anymore. Disliking is of course different thing, but I don't get embarrased very often. Seconding Deth the Harpist.

But if we do count badfics too... Yeah. Those not only make me facepalm but headdesk too, while my brains are trying to eat themselfs to escape the situation.

I only get embarrassed when they get embarrassed. The sexual situations they get into don't bother me, but if someone in the fic/manga/whatever does something silly lets say they drunk call their crush/boyfriend or something then I get embarrassed. It's weird.
