What are you using right now?

Sakura Micron is a popular technical pen brand among anime-style artists. It sounds like you just might need to wait longer to make sure that the ink has dried. Don't try to rush things. smile

They can be a little expensive, but I definitely suggest trying out Sakura Micron pens. I usually buy them at Michael's, but I've heard that some Walmarts carry them (apologies if you're not in the US). .02 is probably a good starter size, and if you find that you like them it's good to have the full set of 6 pens for variable sizes.

      References! References! References!
      Thats always good for anatomy~
And something thats really helped me improve is tracing. I know, I know, your whole life your art teachers have yelled at you to not trace. But its different when its for practice! Tracing is a GREAT way to practice! Just like musicians play other musician's songs to practice before jumping right into playing their own music!
Google some stock images, or find some on deviantart, or posemaniacs.com, or even pictures of yourself! Just pick a bunch and trace them! You don't have to turn them into finished works (in fact, I wouldnt suggest it. Just get the form done and start on your next one!). Its very helpful. And then, when you have a general idea of the human form, you'll be able to draw it on your own, and do your own poses, and you may not even need references anymore. 3nodding
Just remember that tracing other peoples works is NOT a good idea! Just use stock images!

      Also, a redline for you!

      Wow. C:
You're definitely improving! Your characters have more flesh now, instead of being kinda twiggy~
A thing to remember with the second and third one~ Look back at my redline. You aren't drawing their crotch! Haha. xP No one just connects at a V like that. You can just put a little space like I did, you don't have to draw the nether-region. But that will help you improve your leg spacing, and widen your hips/torsos a little bit, which will overall help you with your proportions. 3nodding

I think you can start adding another step in your sketches. ^_^

A very wise person told me I needed to work on giving my people more depth so they don't look too flat. One place you could practice a little more than the others is the armpit and where the arm and shoulder connect, this place looks really rough on some of your drawing. This looks like the main spot still holding you back.
