The Other Side (Shuro and sassiechicka)

Raylen opened her water bottle took a quick sip and headed to her next class. She was the first one to arrive. It was usual for her to be the first one there. She sat in the back next to the window. She then book out the summer reading and glanced back through the parts she didn't understand. She had heard this was a hard teacher.

He walked into the classroom and noticed only one other person (the girl from that morning) was in there. He said nothing, but took a seat in back near the door. He pulled out his music and began a slight tapping on his desk trying to figure out the next part.

Raylen glanced up and noticed the boy from earlier. She waved to him, but quickly went back to her studying.  

[Shuro2009]

He didn't take any notice as he stared up at the ceiling, his pencil tapping on the desk.

Raylen approached him, " What ya working on? "  

[Shuro2009]

"Hm?" He said as he glanced over at her. "Trying to arrange one of Nobuo's pieces for concert band." He said almost automatically.  

[sassiechicka]

Raylen smiles, " So a musician. I haven't ever met a musician before now. "  

[Shuro2009]

"Really?" He asked raising an eyebrow.
He gave her a quick glance.
"Funny. You look like you would be a musician yourself. Besides, music is only part of my life. A very large and major part, but a part none the less."  

[sassiechicka]

Raylen giggled, " The only thing musical I have is my voice. Everyone says it has an effect on people. I've taken chorus classes my entire life. "  

[Shuro2009]

"Good singers are good musicians. Voices are instruments as well. In some cases they can be harder to master than other instruments. I'd like to hear you sing sometime. I bet it will be lovely."  

[sassiechicka]

Raylen blushed, but started singing. Her favorite to sing was gospel songs. " Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wench like me. " She stopped there and looked at the ground that she had never looked up from while she sung.

He could feel the shock setting in when she began to sing. It wasn't often that he found a voice that he could simply fall in love with the first time he heard it. He looked at her and fought to push all the surprise from his face.
"Sounds like I was right." He said. "but you almost look embarrassed."

Raylen looked at the young man, " I do not often sing in front of others my own age. "  

[Shuro2009]

"I don't see why not. You've got talent."
He was being sincere though he tried not to make a big deal out of it.

Raylen blushed, " Well you seem to be talented yourself. "
