This is parallel, but the Incan Shaman (I don't know the inter-Incan name, he uses shaman likely for newage advertising reasons) I sometimes attend the lectures of actually opens up a sacred space with his Mesa and calls in the relevant spirits. I've found it does more for introducing people to "this is not generic neopaganism" than an hour of lecture can because it's interactive but clearly NOT generic, European-based neopaganism or Christian based newage.

I don't know if Hellenic paganism has that yet, but if I were to do an Asatru ceremony, I'd be likely to hallow and hold the space with people present so they can see this ain't your momma's paganism.

The problem with doing that, is that, well, it's a bit boring to a lot of people, it really just looks like the beginning of Catholic Mass.

You can use that to open it up. Such as - procession, so on, then: "Anything look familiar?" biggrin From there I guess you could explain the procedure and use it as a way to ease yourself into other topics that might be hard to broach otherwise.

There is the classic: Start with a story or joke.

I think composing a description of what it would be like entering one of the Temples that Heron built would have me enthralled for hours.

That's actually in my notes -- expound upon the similarities. This audience is a little ....yeah. They'd eat that up.

Might. The pathways I off and on work on is far more personal in my own practice. This is meant to be an overview.

Over views can make useful guidelines for explaining the source and feelings you develop in relation to your personal practice. ninja

Hey, it's an outline, not my notes for a reason smile

Hesiod because it's the one I know the best. The Cosmic Egg confuses me, but it'll be mentioned.

And the Persephone/Winter thing will certainly be used.
