Unfortunately, when Konami announced its takeover of UDE in North America, all official and sanctioned tournaments were cancelled. Nationals didn't take place, all Regionals were halted, as well as Shonen Jumps.

At the very least, Magic: the Gathering extended its courteousy to Yu-Gi-Oh! players by inviting them to freely attend their Nationals. And I would hope that players in Europe obtain the same bit of compensation.

In news of America, Shonen Jump has been announced to be once again established. If you want an idea of what it would be like for Konami to be in charge, I can only imagine that it would be similar if not the same to this.

You can also find the article of Konami VS. UDI here.

So it looks like they finally have things starting up.
Well if they have it all set up in the US then when they take over in the EU then it may be an easyer transaction.
I just feel sorry for all the guys at Upper Deck who put alot of effort into the Yu-Gi-Oh! game.

Depends. If you mean UDI selling false, counterfeit merchandise like they did in America, then yes. They did a lot for the YGO community.

All-in-all, I don't know why UDI was pushed aside specifically. I wouldn't be surprised if UDI was simply rejected for cost of what UDE did in North America, though.

Wasn't that just the American UDE?
UDI got out of it because it wasn't anything to do with them and you don't mess with Swiss law system.
Well the guys & gals I have worked and spoken to at UDI have all been brilliant at what they do. That's why I'm talking about, I don't know what the UDE side was like and can't comment on them.

If you scroll down to the list of qualifiers, kindly posted by a friend of mine whome I duel a lot, you will see the qualified players for the UK Nationals. My name, Jason Earey is on the list and I'm heading down on Friday ready for Saturday and Sunday.

Any other uk duellists, check the list for your name.

Sweet you know Duncan? Or do you mean shawlax?

What's really weird is that I'm on the list (Thom Pope)! I came second in a winner qualifier but the guy who beat me isn't on there, if I have his name right.
If I have known I'd got an invite I would of gone. But I'm working now, ow well! At least I can say I qualified for Nats.

Well I called up Duncan and found out it was a glitch on their side that got me Qualified. The guy who beat me also got quailified aswell. But as there was alot fo problems with the tournament listing and stuff Duncan didn't correct it. Probs cuz he knew I wasn't planning of going.
But I wanna say well done to Duncan for making such a great event; from what I have read.

Mantis didn't handle too well with 280 players. Several people were matched against each other more than once and a few people's win/loss record was wrong.

Yer I heard that. But that was MANTIS' fault and I read some where that the TOs did there best to correct it.
