The Fate of Dragons 1x1 (Full)

"Good night your majesty." Kalip said bowing to the king, holding the bow until the king left the room.

Zaroff; have you anthing to add to the moment? Kalip thought to his friend.

The princess and her dragon are by the lake. I suggest you keep from there for the time being. Zaroff warned.

You worry too much my friend. Perhaps her wisdom could better guide us, or perhaps her youth could kill us. Kalip laughed aloud to himself. Never the less it could be entertaining to have a chat with the fair princess. Kalip said as he journeyed outside of the castle approaching the princess.

"Good evening princess, I am Kalip Wroth, prince of the fire nation." As he announced himself he dipped in to a deep bow.

Hayden tensed as the prince walked outside. There was still something about him that she didn't like. Maybe it was because he was a prince and Athena was a princess. Athena nearly jumped when Kalip announced himself. "Ah, Prince Kalip." She curtsied as he bowed to show respect. The way she was supposed to. "I didn't see you there. I am Athena Katsulas, princess of the ice nation....obviously." She laughed. Hayden began to growl. Athena shot her dragon a glare.

"Hayden, stop it. Be nice." She spat aloud.

I'm sorry, Athena, but I do not like him. I don't trust him either. There have been stories about the fire nation. Most of them about the prince. Hayden told her.

I do not care. He is here to help our nation fight the darkness. That is all. He is a guest and, as such, will be treated with respect. Despite his reputation. Hayden nodded her head once as she agreed to obey Athena's orders. Athena turned back to the prince, embarrassed by her dragon.

"I apologize for Hayden. She doesn't like strangers very much." She told the Kalip. She had to admit he was very attractive for someone who was from a kingdom hated by her own.

Kalips body stiffened at the threatening growl of the dragon and he immediately began searching for a weak point in the dragon's gaurd before he caught himself.

Easy Kalip, we are far from home and this would not be the time nor place to begin a war between kingdoms. Zaroff said when he felt the prince mentally prepair to strike.

I am in control Zaroff, not my emotions. Kalip retorted

Let us hope

Turning his attention to the princess. "Madam Athena, in the councel room you tried to speak up about alternate plans to defeat the darkness. Your father did not seem to let you speak among men, however your father is not around now." pacing towards the pricess, kalip closed the gap between then to a simple step. "If you would be so kind, I would like to hear your ideas."

Kalip you are going to far! Zaroff roared in it's masters mind

Athena's heart was racing so fast as the princes stepped closer she almost didn't hear what he had said. At first, she didn't know what to say. He wanted to hear her idea but that was a first. Her own father never wanted to hear her idea. No man ever did. I bet he wants to steal your idea so that he can get all the glory. Hayden added.

If he does then feel free to eat him, Hayden. Though I'm sure it would start a war. Athena was more than happy to share her idea but she wasn't sure if this prince was worthy or not.

War or not it will be worth it in the end. Athena could feel the heat escaping from his body. It was warm and unlike anything she had ever felt before. She tried to find her voice as she began to speak.

"Uh, well, it sort of goes along with my father's idea. I, too, have noticed that the darkness will often float high above the fighting. All he ever really does is look towards my father, waiting to attack him at the right moment. Well, since you're father has agreed to help us, I was thinking we could attack him at once. I mean, you and eye with our dragons. When we are in the right position, out dragons will use their elements at the same time. Your dragon shooting fire and mine eyes. Thus, making a hard shell of hard rock. Like when a volcano erupts and it cools on the outside. The darkness will be sure to be locked in there forever. And once he and his dragon are enclosed in the rock, we can do whatever with him as we please. Lock him up in a cell, cave, or even kill him if need be." She shrugged but then shook her head. "But my father is right. I'm just a girl and no nothing about strategies. I am only good at fighting."

Placing his hand on his jaw thinking the plan over. "Is a good plan madam Athena. Although we do not full know the powers of the Darkness due to the fact that we have never actually seen him in combat."

Relaying the plan to zaroff. What do you think my friend?

It is well thought out but like the kings there are far too manys it could go wrong. Alas it the best idea yet. Perhaps you could present it to the king as your idea so he might take it into consideration?

Yes, but then the princess would not get the credit deseved. Kalip was shocked at himself for worring about the princess.

Kalip! This is a war. I do not care who gets the credit. Zaroff screamed. You and I both know that the king will not follow through with the plan if he knows it was Athena's idea. We must think about what is best!

Enough Zaroff! Kalip was becoming furious. More so with himself then his dragon. He hated that he cared about what the princess though about him.

"Princess might we walk?" Eyeing the disapproving gaze of Athena's dragon, Kalip added; "Without our cohorts."

Hayden growled once again. To her, princes only thought of one thing. That and he still didn't seem trustworthy. But Athena didn't see any harm in walking with the prince. After all, it was just a walk. Athena asked Hayden to stay behind. No! I'm going with you. Hayden protested.

No you're not. I'll be fine. I'm good at fighting and I know how to take care of myself. I know you're trying to protect me but it will be alright. Please stay here. Hayden snorted but agreed to stay behind. Athena thanked her best friend and began to walk off towards the ice.

"I think a walk is just what I need." Athena smiled and began to walk off the frozen water.

Smiling as the white dragon growled, knowing that Athena would still follow him. Kalip waved the princess on to walk beside him as a equal, as they walked beside the lake towards the unfrozen areas.
"Madam; you seem to place either great trust in me or great faith into your fighting abilities to walk alone with me."
When Kalip couldn't see the Ice dragon nor anymore frozen lake he removed his shoes and shirt, displaying his defined chest and various scars lining his body, and began to enter the chilled water.

She had to agree with him. It wasn't normally like her to trust someone like him with her ideas AND to go on a walk without her dragon escort. But before she could say anything, Kalip was already taking off his shirt and shoes before dipping into the water. The scars on his body seemed to keep her distracted for a small moment. But only a moment. "What on earth are you doing?! You said go for a walk. You didn't say anything about going into the water!" Athena tried to calm herself and looked around to see if anyone was looking.

"Are all men from your kingdom like this? Say they want to go for a walk but instead, dive into a lake that, clearly, is off limits?" She folded her arms and shook her head. "My, you're a strange breed."

A smile played acrosse kalips lips. "Princess, you may walk beside the lake." Taking note of the off-limits comment. "I am sure the King will excuse me on account of a comfort reason."

Steam radiated from his form before Kalip emersed(sp) himself fully into the icy lake. Kalip re-surfaced. "Princess, if you would place but a finger into the lake and feel the temperature, I assure you that you will immediately know my meaning."

Kalip waited for the princess to comply. Knowing that when she touched the water she would realize that it was not freezing as usual; but instead the temperature of a hot spring.

Athena began to pace back and forth, not liking where this was going. Getting into the lake was against the rules. It wasn't like a princess to just dive into the water whenever they felt like it. It wasn't lady like and it was against the rules. Both things she intended to follow. It wasn't the fact that the water would be very cold, in fact she figured otherwise. "I am NOT sticking my finger into the water. I don't care of the temperature. And what is this comfort reason? Are you a fiery fish in need of water? There really is no need for you to be dipping into the lake! And I'm pretty sure my father would mind greatly!"

To her, this prince was going to give her a stroke, heart attack or something. Hayden couldn't stand the silent any longer. What's he doing, Athena? Do you need me? Do I need to eat him?

No, we're fine. He's just swimming in lake, thinking that my father wouldn't mind a bit. She thought back.

He's what?! That's it. I'm coming over there and eating him. Hayden threatened but Athena stopped her.

NO! Stay where you are. I'm handling it. Athena told her though she really didn't know how to handle any situation at the moment.

This time it wasn't just a mere smile but a chuckle that escaped Kalip. Between breaths Kalip managed to muster; "Fine..ha..Princess..I will haha..remove myself from the precious lake. haha." With that kalip swam to the edge of the lake and reached for the princesses hand, for an 'assist' out of the lake.

Sensing the princes motives Zaroff roared. Kalip don't even do it!

Lighten up Zaroff. Who knows she may enjoy this. Kalip laughed aloud at his own thought.

Athena hesitated when he held out his hand for her. She didn't really expect him to need assistance. All he had to do was stand up and walk out. It wasn't that deep. At least, where he was. Kalip continued to smile as he waited. When she did finally grab his hand, but soon regretted it. His hand was warm to the touch. But before she could stop him, he dragged her into the water. Her dress was now completely soaked along with her hair. She resurfaced and glared at him. "If it wasn't for this war coming up and our kingdom needing you, I would have Hayden eat you alive and chew you slowly."

Athena splashed him furiously before walking out of the lake. She sat on a rock and began to ring out her hair along with her dress. "This brings me back to my previous question. What is wrong with you? I didn't want to get in the water and yet you force me into it. You know, I'm getting really tired of men pushing me around and forcing me into doing things I don't want to do."

Wading form the lake Kalip's natural body heat dried him of most of the water, leaving his pants just slightly damp for the moment. Staring at the princess. "Madam I appologize for my actions. You are just far to strict." Walking closer to Athena, Kalip dared to test Athena's waters by streching out his hand again for her to grasp. "Princess I am sorry and I promise not to drag you into the water nor force you into anything that you wish to not do."

Taking the time to answer her question. "Madam Athena, I am the prince of the fire kingdom, I do not know terms such as off-limits, or restricted. I am use to being able to do as I wish." Taking his gaze over the princess, spending the most time on her face. "If I were you I would do my best not to worry so much lest that beautiful face of yours will wrinkle and it would be a crime to ruin such a exquisite piece."

Letting his hand linger infront of her, hoping that she would take it. "I wish only to rectify my wrong. If you would please grasp my hand I will dry you off. I promise you will not feel anything othe then a mild warmth cover your body."

Athena wrung out her dress and continued to shake the water out of her hair. "Well, here in the Ice kingdom we like to keep to the rules, even if some of us want to break those rules a time or two." She stood up and tried to smooth out her dress but the water was beginning to ruin her dress. It was her favorite and one that took her forever to get.

"Flattery will get you nowhere, Prince Kalip." She began muttering curses under her breath. She hated being wet when she wasn't in the proper attire. But his hand still hung in the air for her to take with a promise of a warm feeling. She had to admit she wanted to hold his hand again. The warmth filling her body. And those eyes. They were deep but soft and gentle. Welcoming in fact.

Then again, if they walked back into the castle fully wet her father would assume the worst and begin a war not meant to happen at this time. A war never to happen in fact. She cautiously took his hand and waited for the heat to cover her body to dry her off. But something was happening that she didn't plan on happening. Her heart was racing like it never had before.

The moment Athena's hand touched his own, Kalip's breathing ceased. The desire to pull her close nearly ovewhelmed him. Kalip tried to force the thoughts from him as he pressed his internal warmth over Athena. The innocent flames spread from Kalips heart and engulfed him in nonlethal fire before spreading over the princess. The sound of sizzling water suddenly appeared and just as suddenly quieted as the last drop of water evaporated from Athena.

Not wanting to relinquish his hold of Athena; Kalip allowed his touch to linger as the flames surrounding them both began to die out to a slow simmering glow. Kalip slowly pulled Athena closer to his body, forcing her to feel his warmth radiate from his body.
