ZucciniGirl i'm 1/8 cherokee the rest of me is irish , english and welsh. the farthest back i can trace my family is to a James Butler born in 1392 in england. I got a native ancestor-female-that went to england, not too positive if it was around that time or later. My knowledge is only limited to other countries of origin and places where ancestors travelled to

I'm not a native anything.. well, unless you want to say I'm a "native" of Atlanta =p
My family are largely German and Scots. Mom had been carrying on her father's obsession with the genealogy, and I know we had an ancestor who served on board the U.S.S. Constitution. Supposedly, we're also distantly related to the family of Edgar Allan Poe.
Supposedly.

Perhaps we might have a common Scottish Ancestor, who knows? But my knowledge of my family history is very limited, I do not know too much

Well... if you ask my mother, we are native nothing. If you ask my grandmother (she is gone now) we have Souix in our history. You can see it in my mother and grandmother, a little in my sister, but none in me... I figured that I would be about 1/8 or 1/16... if that even counts for anything these days.
My mother's story is that she was always teased when she was young, she had long straight black hair, always pulled back into a pony tail. She has an olive skin tone... and her name is Sue... so kids would call her Sue Indian... teasing her. She holds a lot of hate for that. We do not talk to her about it at all, she just denies it 100% and will not budge. My grandma is the one that told me the story shortly before she died and there is a lot about it written in my great Aunt's (my grandma's sister) journals.

We don't know much detail about the family trees on either my mother or fathers' side, but they seem to be predominantly Scots-Irish. On Dad's side there is also English, German, Dutch & some Blackfoot. He says that his grandmother looked almost pure Native American. Not sure if that's significant as to where it came into the family line though. Her name was Theresa.

my biological grandfather was Native American. Hi wife was Welsh. This is on my mothers side. My father is the general American Mix, basic everything. As far as hair and skin, I take after my father, I always wanted my mothers dark skin. I do have the basic facial structure as far as cheekbone and jaw.

My grandmother is 1/4 Cherokee if I'm figuring it correctly. My kids have Cherokee blood from their father's side and both have some Native features such as high cheek bones. My daughter was born with beautiful olive skin while the rest of us are ghostly. During that horibble time in American history when the Natives were required to "register", many didn't. As was the case with my ancestors.

Interesting topic! I'm partly Native, on my Dad's side of the family. (Mom's side of the family is German!) My Dad's Mother's side of the family was Tsalagi (Cherokee) and supposedly my Dad's Father's side of the family was Apache. But my Dad's Dad was a no-good drunk, and he was ashamed of his heritage, so we never really knew for sure. But we did find my great Grandmother's name on tribal rolls - she sold land to the government in Oklahoma I guess, back in the day. Anyway.. I've always been very proud of my Native heritage, even though all my friends joke about how 'white' I look. razz My Dad even gave me my Tsalagi name, and I believe I have a totem animal, and such.

My Grandmother and Great-grandmother were both full Cherokee and my Grandfather and Great-grandfather were both full Blackfoot, so ya don't have to go too far back to find MY Native American.... I follow their spiritual ways. Respect for Mother Earth and never taking more than what you need. And I always tried to follow the saying, "Live simply, so others can simply live"

I'm surprised we have so many here! I don't have any- almost pure German here. Some Dutch from my mom. My dad's side is traced back to the 1400s. We're actually German royalty. Damn peasant uprising....

My Grandparents on my Father's side walked out of the jungle in Nicaragua. Does that count as native? On my mom's side I'm related to Charlemagne. She's really into geneology so they have her side of the family traced back to the stone age I think.

French, English, Canadian, and Irish. Maybe some black (if the suspicions my grandfather's mother had about my living grandmother's ancestry were indeed true).
But no Native American. sad
