they must have given you longer words for you to have only completed 70 words at 404 characters per minute. I completed 71 words at 360 characters per minute, but mine were all small words with about 5 characters average.
I had tried the test again, and they do give you different words in a different order every time you take the test.

They do also seem to be totally randomly generated. 3nodding

Paladin Vyper They were a little long for a typing test, IMHO. They do also seem to be totally randomly generated. 3nodding The first time I took it and posted the results, the words seemed fine. I took it about 3 or 4 other times just to see how it varied, and a few of the other tries the words certainly seemed too long for a speed test. One of the times I took it, one word was capitalized.
In speed tests I've taken in the past, I can't recall there being capitalization, though it is good to be able to type fast while still using proper capitalization and punctuation.
The test might be a little more accurate if it ran for a few minutes and had full paragraphs or sentences. It's easier for some people to type when they can actually make sense of what they are typing. The disclaimer does say it isn't a fully accurate test, though.

I took the test a second time - both times several words were capitalized. All the other speed tests I have ever taken have had complete sentences and paragraphs with punctuation and capitalization. I think it makes it considerably easier when it is a complete, grammatically correct sentence that you are copying, rather than just a series of randomized words. TypingTest.com provides a decent test with cohesive sentences, if I remember correctly. You may try there if you want to avoid randomly generated words. smile
