I listen to a lot of 70's and 80's music, mostly because they don't make music like they used to. I do like some modern bands, but unfortunately they're few and far between lately, mostly seeing as on just sounds exactly like the other. I always liked bands that had a unique sound.
But honestly.. I'll listen to pretty much anything.

Let's see... the ones I still find 'True True' are, Queen, Metallica, Pink Floyd, Guns n Roses, Madonna... of course I love classical and opera as well, by the way... and then come the new ones...

Well, in my house growing up I gained an appreciation for a variety of music, from my dad. I can appreciate classical, jazz, and odd things like The Irish Rovers, Herb Alpert and the Tiajuana Brass, Simon & Garfunkel, Boston Pops,etc....But as I grew older I had my own likes, my first group ever was the Monkees!! I started with easy listening, The Osmonds being my number one favorite and selected songs off the radio during the early 70's....then I liked the Bee Gees, and Styx....and now I have added some things my kids have introduced me to such as Nightwish, Asian pop, Enomine. I also like a cappella and my favorite is Vocal Point. I started with Rockappella, the guys who sang Where in the World is Carmen San Deigo and went from there...I like movie musicals and some broadway musicals.....and soundtracks are always a favorite....And of course there are the classic groups from the 70's and early 80's that have songs that I like...what I don't get into is rap or country....but other wise I'm a mixture of this, that and the other thing...

For all those that like female vocalists -- You should check out Emmy Rossum (if you haven't already). She was Christine in the Phantom of the Opera movie that came out ..recently? But she's awesome.

About two years ago I was into heavy metal, and the "gothic" scene...but slowly I got more into Japanese pop and anime songs.
I guess now I'm preppy, when I used to wear all black and dark make up XD

I'd say my musical taste has definitely evolved over time. I went from metal to goth/punk to hardcore to indie rock and now I listen to like "soft rock" like elton john and stuff. I don't eschew the music I used to listen to, I just listen to all sorts of stuff. I'm always adding on to my tastes.
However, I don't really listen to metal or hardcore that much any more. I'm too mellow now I think to really get into it like I used to. Though every once in a while there is nothing like some Man is the b*****d or Slayer.
I think my only constant that I listen to as much now as I ever did is classic/southern rock.

I've always been into alt rock bands, but I do think it's developed over the years. For one, when I was 16 I adored punk bands like Rancid and Pennywise, that type of thing. 17 I mellowed out a little and started in stuff like Rasputina and Voltaire. I'd like to think that my listening preferences have vasty improved, but in a few years I'll probably laugh at myself for saying so. Right now it's indie. Ooooh... indie heart But the Smashing Pumpkins will be my favorite forever.

My music genres of choice include 3rd wave ska, punk, classic rock, & techno/trance mainly. My tastes certainly haven't changed since I was in my early teens And it's hard as hell to find good, new music these days ~ Luckily, Green Day is still kicking out some new & awesome jams xd The only newer band that I've grown to adore is Billy Talent heart

i used to really only be into rock and hard rock (?), but i have always loved nine inch nails. now their music has changed through out the years but they have grown with me. i find it very commendable that they have been able to grow as a band. now i am mostly into progressive trance and house, but my one true love is still nine inch nails.

Mostly Hard Rock/Heavy Metal and some Rap/Hip-Hop, but really I like any song that does what it does well. What language/country it's from doesn't really make a difference.

My classic favorites are U2, Peter Gabriel and Duran Duran. I still get nutty listening to "new wave" and other 80s music!!
My current favorites and future classics are: NIN, SOAD, Deftones, etc. I like alternative rock, and I love LOUD alternative rock! Trent Reznor is GOD, YOU HEAR ME! CAN YOU HEAR ME OVER THE LOUD MUSIC? OR ARE YOU DEAF LIKE ME NOW? lol
My newest foray is into post-rock bands like Sigur Ros and Mogwai and a few others. Bless you, iTunes, for making their music so accessible!
