I was active Army for 5 1/2 years, and now am in the WA national guard for two years. On active duty I was stationed in HI, and ended up going to both Afghanistan & Iraq. The Iraq deployment was rather unique, as I was the personal computer tech for three generals. The working conditions were certainly cushy, and I got just about any equipment I needed (within reason), but it was the first time I've worked for 15 hours straight. Also, it doesn't help stress levels when you have two minutes to get the CG's laptop working for the nightly briefing, and he's sitting there WATCHING YOU as you work.

6gun I'm in the national guard, and waiting to go on my first tour in Iraq next year. 6Gun, Iraq wasn't bad while I was there... but it's been a long time as I was in OIF I & II (first year). Rolled north out of Arifjan in APR03 and spent my first 3 months guarding a fuel point near Fallujah, got transfered to BIAP for the rest of the tour first doing MSR patrols and then escorting ISG personnel. The last 6 months (with the ISG) were pretty cushy, but we earned those phones and chow halls. I'm currently an E-5 in the Alabama Nat'l Guard (MP), and will have 8 in next 18APR. To all the members of H.M.'s Armed Forces (especially the Aussies and NZ's), thanks- from the bottom of this Southron's heart. DAmn fine people, each and every one of ya- I'd rather work with ya'll than all these damnyankees over here! Next time ya'll throw a war, I'm there!

One little misplaced stamp, and you squash a career. One other little stamp, and you make someone very happy! Loose someone's record, and they won't even be allowed to go to the bathroom without having found it first! Never mess with Medical; your future is in their hands.

I'm not in the military but my boyfriend and sometimes fiance is. He is a Sargent in the Army and the biggest goof ball ever. I'm going through the hell of dating the military with a hardcore LDR (i'm in CT and he is in WA). lol. I've been through one deployment and am preparing for a second. I really have no problems with the military except for the lazy a** mail room guy who refuses to do his job and get my boy a package I sent him. So far i've seen Ft. Steward, jackson (where my grandfather went) and Lewis (where my boy is stationed). In Jackson my boyfriend saw a friend of his who I out ate at my 110 pound weight. We each got a loaded steak house burger medium combo meal from BK and I ate him under the table. i've never seen so many army guys in awe before @_@
