I heard that originally the author/maker of Death Note was not going to kill off L- L was going to be the one to catch Kira. The fans wanted more though so L had to be killed off to further the plot since he was so close to catching Kira.

the author is a ******** moron!!!! Not that I don't like Mello or Near(Mello is hotter) but I think he should have kept L alive somehow instead of making all of us poor fan girls cry our eyes out... I don't give a crap about a stupid plot, L was the best character on that show and they killed him! They are complete retards!
