i love my chem, no matter what.
gerard wants everyone to embrace the new fans, and so what if they've gotten popular?
i think it's wonderful for them.

maybe this is just me, but i think fans of the BAND will adapt to the next phase they're in, but fans of the music will stay and whine about how nothing's the same as the album before.

don't get me wrong, this isn't directed at the OP. i just had to let off some steam about people who're like

The Screamo Kid
I understand what they're doing with this album and it's so cool. But it's more their musical style that I fear is becoming too mainstream.

Are they gonna be the next Green Day?
(as in everyone likes one song and thinks they're a fan and then no one really cares)

I've been trying to find a place to say that I was completely dissapointed with "Kill All Your Friends". It was way too light and happy.

I'm scared of that too!!!!

I don't want them to go so mainstream..
I miss they're oddness whereas only certain
accepting people liked them, and all the preps were
like "Ew, freaks!". Now the preps think Gerard is hot,
and categorize them with all their other alternative pop bands.

I guess I'm just anxious for what happens now.
it's that kind of stuff that got them the "emo" tag 'cause the mainstream categorizers didn't know where to place them and since their origional fans were considered "emo" they threw them in with that stuff. I don't understand how they think that MCR is in the same category as Boys Like Girls, I just don't...

I always thought that they kind of 'grew-up' from Three Cheers.
I don't want them to be Mainstream, but I'm glad their getting bigger, that means you hear them more offen. But when you go clothes shopping with your mom (Eeww!!!) And hear Famous Last Words... That's a little extreme.

...Nobody here said that The Black Parade sucks.
:

I'm not attacking you, I'm just defending the thread.

I said that I missed the time period of Revenge,
and I loved the exciting feeling, I love the uniqueness
of The Black Parade,
and I wonder how they'll develope.

And as others said, more recent
fans have labeled them emo, and thats what
started the whole "OMG, My Chemical Romance is Emo!!"
thing..which I'm totally against.

I understand you had to blow off some steam, but just
so you know, nobody in this thread dislikes The Black Parade.

Yeah I dislike that too.

I honestly don't give a care on who likes them or not, but how
some people label them really bothers me.

Actually, I've been heard 'mcr is emo' like, moreso during the revenge days.
idkk.

and you guys, they've ALREADY gone pretty mainstream
it's not their fault, but it's just happened because the music is so great.
and i loved having mcr just be my little secret thing haha, you know what i mean, but shouldn't we be happy for them? that they're getting extremely successful?
and i'm sure after a while it'll all die down, and their loyal fanbase (aka us ;D)
will stick with them.

Miss My Chemical Romance
Eh heh. This is kind of embarassing, but the beginning of my fan-dom is more recent. I started liking My Chem within the last year or so. So, although I hate to say it, I had no clue of MCR during the Revenge era. Well, I saw the Helena video and the I'm Not Okay video on MTV when they first cae out, and I liked them. Helena really made me think. But after a while I just forgot about them until sort of recently.

I swear, that was the EXACT same thing for me.

To me they could always be the 3 Cheers Punk band and the Black Parade. Like in the LOTMS dvd Gerard says that he changes himself alot and that's just the way it is. The new change gave them alot of more fans from every scene and as a bonus they created a newish genre.

Like Aiden.

Aiden used to be a screamo and not so easy to listen to by some people. But with their new album, their songs actually sound put together and not so loud and random. But the thing is, that was their sound. The band's personality. It was what defined them as a band before the new album.

Same with MCR.

Its a bitter sweat romance.

-MCR changes their look and sound.
1. old fans start to dislike them.
2. old Loyal fans stick with them.
3. they gain new fans. and more support.

.:So i hope i didn't sound like a total idiot:.

No, they're not really so different. I mean, they went the whole "We're the Black Parade" route for a while to promote and mess with people's heads, but now they've headed back toward the way they were before Black Parade dropped. And anyway, saying that MCR couldn't make it to the show, so the Black Parade will be filling in seems like classic MCR humor. Maybe it's just you (or me)

Oh I totally know that its not their fault!
Dont worry.
: )

I hope it dies down a bit...not meaning
to sound bitchy or anything. surprised

I guess the new album wasnt as....punk?
I dunno, it just seemed a bit softer rock to me.

It seems like when the album first comes out,
only the long time fans really know about it, then
the hit songs reach the radio and we get the mainstream
fans, then about a year or so goes by and that fades,
and then their new album is out..
Hah, its funny how that works.

BUT, I LOVEEE their new way of
performing in concertss.
:]]

Like they wanted, they're MUCH more theatrical, hehe.

I think My Chemical Romance is one of the best live bands,
honestly

For many people the black parade grew on them
But I seem to have grown out of it
I am sick to death of hearing how 'hot'
the band is...and it's mostly said because of the huge
media coverage that the black parade has given them.

I am truely thrilled with there success because i 100% believe
that they deserve it, but I prefer revenge.
It was more raw and passionate...the black parade is almost
too tight, too well made, too well produced
and too damn clean.

I feel it lacks the grime and rage of earlier albums
Gerard said that the band was therapy...the first to albums
where the therapy and this one is about moving on.
I often wonder what he would think if fans said.
'Hold up...we arn't ready to move on yet...we're still hurting...we need something we can relate too.'

And personally I am a HUGE fan of Queen (which is the music style and inspiration of TBP) and have been all my life...but there are very few songs that I can relate too.
Much can be said about 'the black parade'
The music and the songs are amazing...but I really can't relate to many songs on there.
1/3 can relate to cancer and most of us to disenchanted.

But...most of us are not dying or dead so how do we relate to Dead!
To the black parade...to house of wolves we can understand them
but i am pretty sure we cannot relate.

Also back to my original point about the 'hot' aspect
that came up with the media storm.
It means I am distancing myself from them slightly
and that hurts...because I really need this band...but I am
tiered of being labelled as some moron who screams
'i wanna have your babies'

So yeah they have grown up...but I wish they hadn't...
I miss revenge and Bullets...but i suppose everything had
it's time...and they just had to move foreward.

Just want to say, wow. I love this guild xD There's so many wonderful people here with so much to say, and gave me a lot to think about.

I'm extremely happy for the band, and I for one think TBP was phenomenal in so many ways.

There is the slight, slight, slight, chance of them becoming so unbelievably mainstream...but come on...Don't you think it would've happened by now?

I am a little scared, and anxious to hear what the next album becomes...

Like with their 'new' song, "The World is Ugly" he's singing about...love, and he also does that in "Stay" or whatever you wish to call the new songs.

That...alarms me...but in a good way.

Most of us are used to the hard, fast, aggressive sound of the old MCR, but I think you should either deal with it, or leave.

Don't want to start a whole "The Used" argument, but I'm afraid they'll turn into them also.

With nearly every song on the record about love...and we ALL know how popular those crappy mainstream songs are... "Teardrops on my Guitar" ect.

*No offense to people who like that song, or the mainstream genres of the new popular artists razz *

I think Gerard's voice has gotten better in the albums, and there's really no where to go but up for our boys wink

We just have to hang in there.
What band doesn't get extremely popular with some radio airplay when a new hit record comes out?
Don't hold it against them...

I'll love em to the end cool

i LOVED the Revenge days. MyChem was so exciting back then, especially since they finally got recognition for their music(Bullets...sad times for MCR). I do miss that feel. However, the band now is AMAZING. They've come so far from Helena to Welcome to th Black Parade.

i luv their new change, i mean revenge was so "agressive", and i luved it, but i never knew they were capable of becoming "majestic" i love TBP
