× lol.. if it's a guy trying to flirt etc and he calls me sweetie, babe, etc i would feel awkward and uneasy...
However, if it's like a female lady (only in western countries), e.g.. a librarian.. "hi sweetie, can you please keep your voice down..?" i guess it's like part of their culture to greet someone like that..
initially, when i was studying in Australia, i found it quite strange too.. (coz to use those terms in Asia, it would mean that u are quite close to that person) but after sometime, i accepted it was their way of calling someone.. polite-ness i guess... =P
