TeaDidikai niamhybeag TeaDidikai AvalonAuggie TeaDidikai I have this beautiful brown shawl that I can't remember what it is made from. I want to say that it's kasmire, or some such... Also, I now have Knitting Envy. Thanks. stare uuuuuuh, cashmere. heart I bought a single skein of that for my mom's Christmas present this year and it set me back $40. But I wish I could work with it every day, it's the softest thing in the world. Comes from adorable goats, the softest of which live in Mongolia. And just about the only fiber more luxurious is Qiviut, and you can really only get that if you go to a yarn store in Alaska since the main distributor is the Oomingmak Musk Ox Producer's co-op. Which is great for supporting the local economy but not great for poor knitters. Musk Ox eh? I wonder how it is processed. AFAIK it's combed from their underbellies in moulting season. Check out the yarn porn: From a website what sells qiviut. It's on the lotto-jackpot list. Just one skein... just enough to make a hat or a pair of gloves... *dreams* When I win the lottery, I'll hand deliver you a box of the stuff.
heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart
There aren't enough variations of the phrase 'You rock!' in all the world!!!
Even better, that'd mean you'd be in Ireland! and you'd get to go hang out in all the cool places here! and drink tea-the-beverage with us!

TeaDidikai Recursive Paradox TeaDidikai Recursive Paradox I've been trying anti acid stuff too, for possible acid reflux irritation. Have they done any of the acid : contents tests? I had a similar problem, and rather than it being a function of needing an anti-acid, I actually needed more acid when they reviewed the tests. They didn't, unfortunately. My insurance coverage is spotty at best and it was a campus clinic. There's a home test that you might be able to do. Don't know if it's of interest or not.
It's of interest, yes.
Shearaha I'm glad it's not pnemonia. I add honey to my rose hip tisane, sweetens it just enough and helps it go down smoothly. My issue is a type of pnemonia, walking pnemonia. Basically unless I move to a warm, humid climate I'm going to have breathing issues the rest of my life. Which could at any time develope into full pnemonia. I take even a mild chest cold seriously. It's also something that puts me at risk for any type of surgery where I'd be under full anesthesia.
Yikes. Are you able to move into a more humid climate?

Bastemhet TeaDidikai Bastemhet I do not have a pesonal space to make sacred in my home. This really saddens me. Ever thought about making an Altoid's Tin Alter? I have, actually. Not only that, but I also had an idea of using a wallet photo album, and my sister was kind enough to volunteer to make me some original illustrations of my favorite deities. But the thing is with Egyptian temples, the temples themselves become alive in the Opening of the Mouth ceremony. I do no know what the mechanics would be like if instead of entering a living sacred space, I carry it in my pocket. sweatdrop I'll have to think about that one, but thanks for the suggestion, I forgot about that possibility. However because of purity restrictions I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with carrying this mini-shrine on my person. Hmm... Might not be something you carry on you at all times.

Hubby and I both have jobs here that we don't want to leave. We both have a lot of room for advancement and they will pay for or reimbruse all further college education. The insurance is excellent.
And his mom needs us right now. We're living with her, because we just can't leave her alone. While I don't think she'd really do anything it's best not to take chances.

I haven't quite been following the conversation, but your wallet god album sounds really neat.
What about carrying a little temple with you, like made of paper? I'd have to find the instructions, but it's possible to fold a little origami house with doors that open. It'd just be a little folded house until you opened it.

Well the point of the temple is to have a pure and sacred space in which the deity may dwell. I don't know if your idea would work, even if it is cute. whee

AniMajor Bastemhet Well the point of the temple is to have a pure and sacred space in which the deity may dwell. I don't know if your idea would work, even if it is cute. whee What I was thinking is the pure and sacred space is the inside of the house, while the outside remains the same unsacred paper. Kinda like keeping a sterile liquid in a glass bottle. The inside of the glass where the liquid is remains sterilized as long as the bottle is closed, but you can touch the outside all you want. Of course, I might be looking at this too physically, where your gods might care a little more that you're using a paper house as a temple to them.
In the Opening of the Mouth ceremony, the temple itself becomes alive as a vessel that is sacred in and of itself as well as a sacred dwelling. I would then not be able to touch it unless I am made ritually pure.
This of course is based on the Egyptian temples themselves. I know there were smaller altars in homes where I'm not sure if the gods dwelled in the little statues and figurines themselves as they did in the main temples. I'm also not sure whether it's necessary for the deity to dwell in the physical realm in order to benefit from whatever food offering I may make. I have a feeling it might not be as important to have a sacred space because they can go wherever they want, but they will naturally be more attracted to pure sites and people.
