I guess none of you ever read or even heard of "Lord of the Flies" then? All in all, the concept sounded interesting, but to hand out large cash prizes and "pay" the kids according to their "class" was plain wrong. Guess where all the negroes went huh?

But anyway, I liked Lord of the Flies, I thought that it was an interesting concept, but more on the nature of the human condition, rather than a introspective at children in specific.

Xenos, part of the novel's idea was to show what would happen if the "higher power" - in this case parents or grown ups - would be missing and leave the children free to their own devices, without someone to correct them or stop them when things go awry.

Plus it raises the question that if adults or young adults were stranded there, would things be better or would they also turn tribal, using force and threat instead of violence.
