Essie dodged Mackenzie's steal attempt but Desmond managed to grab the quaffle from the blonde. The brunette nodded when he ordered her to stay close. Keeping herself open for a pass, Mackenzie caught the quaffle and threw it towards the goalposts when she felt she was close enough.

Gid walked to the quidditch pitch, using his wand to hover the barrel of brooms behind him. His own broom was in a sling across his back and he was moving as fast as possible to avoid being late. He quickly set up, the paperwork beside him. This was going to be a crazy few hours, since it was his first time even pretending to be Captain. He took a deep breath, staring at the gate. He'd put up the notices about tryouts in the Common Room, and made sure everyone knew. It was super exciting.... until he realized it was all on him to make a great team. And what if someone didn't like him? What if he was blamed for a terrible game?! No... he pushed the thoughts out of his head as he sighed and waited for everyone to show up. When people filtered in, he'd tell them to do up all their paperwork, since it had to be done before anyone could try out for the team.

Aster really wasn't too concerned about the team this year. They'd lost Joel and Ivy, yeah, but it wasn't like the remaining lineup was terrible. Jazzy was still here, and so was she, and they were decent beaters who were even better when they were in-sync. Gid and Bas were good chasers, and they had plenty of reserves on hand. She waved flippantly at her new captain, before taking a form, and when she was done with that, starting her stretches.

Alec had known he had wanted to play Quidditch once he got to Hogwarts since he'd known what a broom was, and although he hadn't planned on playing for Gryffindor, that hadn't stopped him from deciding to try out. He'd debated what position he'd like to play- seeker was out of the question, since Sera was Slytherin's crummy seeker, and he didn't want to be associated with her. Keeper was too dull. Beaters were always in the infirmary. So he'd settled on chaser, although he knew there was no guarantee he'd end up playing in the actual position any time soon. Slightly intimidated by the fact that the only two other people there were far older than he, he kept to himself, hoping Lucy showed up soon.

Today was the first day of the Quidditch season, at least so far as Fianna was concerned, as it started with tryouts and didn't end until the Snitch was caught in the last match, but it all started today. The young lioness felt confident this would be her year, having been Ivy's understudy for three years, but she still had to tryout and get picked; nobody's position was set or promised. It was cool out, the sun was shining bright, the skies a brilliant blue, one couldn't ask for much better flying conditions.

Fianna waved, and said, "Hi, Gid," in a cheerful tone, as she picked up her form to fill out.
