Yes, though that is only one part of the media (media is not just news, it also includes all radio, television and advertisements).
Generally, these companies do not want you to think for yourself, nor do they want you to have a positive self-image. Both of those would cause you to buy less.

So... pretty much we are set up to fail before we are born, and then people wonder why we are so depressessed and angsty as a teenager. -_-*

Of course, parenting inherentlly involves a large degree of brainwashing, which generally makes children more suceptible to the media's influence.
So, we can blame everything on our parents!

It can be used as an excuse for anything, and there is really no way to argue against it. Of course, it does tend to demean the instinces when it really is the parents' fault.

ZZ: It's sickening when it really is the parents fault 100% due to abuses of various natures.

lurichan ZZ: It's sickening when it really is the parents fault 100% due to abuses of various natures. Some pyschologists believe the life of a person is completely dependent upon their life in the first twenty years. If that is true, then everything really is the parents' fault. (And i agree with you. I cannot believe how some people treat their children. I could never take good care of a child, but that is why i have no intention of raising one.)

Ahh, the nature vs. nurture argument. That was always fun in high school since my psych. teacher was very nurture orientated. A lot of a person's personality can be influenced by their surroundings, experiences, ect, but their parents aren't the only thing that influences you when growing up. School, teachers, friends, relatives, extra ciricular activities, and a whole bunch of random experiences can all effect the general outcome.

I believe the reasoning used by those i mentioned is this. A person's life is completely dependent upon the environment in which they are raised. Parents have the ability to completely control their child's environment, therefore they have the ability to completely shape the child's life. I disagree with it, but it is still interesting. As for how i am, i still cannot hear out of one ear. If i had to guess, i would say this is Meniere's Disease, but i will probably have to go to a doctor before deciding for sure.
