Vivace, still a bit strapped for air, concentrated more on breathing than readily replying to Radium’s observation. She still nodded, nonetheless, and took on a curious, albeit slightly drained, expression as she thought back to their not-so-long-ago battle. She’d never come across a drifloon before, in fact she’d never even heard of the name before Radium had mentioned, but the balloon pokemon had been weird, appearing from out of nowhere and blocking their path, and yet refusing to retaliate, or even attack at all. Weird.
She didn’t get much of a chance to reflect on the guardian, or offer some sort of haphazardly guessed suggestion to explain their behavior, before they were suddenly joined by a teammate. Vivace’s eyes light up when Piper touched down beside them, and even managed a breathy, “hello!”, and a hearty wave. It was good to see that their team was coming back together again. “Those two are pretty strong,” she piped up, her first full sentence since conquering the stairs. And, despite the fact that she’d never seen either Ai or Dotty fight before, she believed in their abilities — or at least, she believed the two were strong enough to successfully defeat a weak drifloon together; she and Radium had managed that! “How are you feeling, Piper?” Vivace asked, hoping to pass the time while they continued waiting, and check in with one of their more nervous teammates.
With her back turned to the dark abyss before them, that would serve as the next area of their travels, Vivace didn’t notice a glimmer break through the dark. Followed by another, and then another, until it appeared as if a small galaxy had just been born from within the cavern. The shine died down, and from just beyond the mouth of the cave several groupings of crystal could be seen, tightly wound together and packed into the wall and reflecting the sunlight that bounced off of them, as weak as it was.

Putting on his best super sleuth, tough investigative act on, Chickpea began nodding his head slowly, adding in a few well-timed ‘hm’s as well for good measure. Yes, this arch, this arch right here. It was very... strange! And mysteriously! And totally needed to be looked over at, investigated thoroughly and completely! Unfortunately, they didn’t have much time, and... it was just a structure, a single and out-of-place one at that, there wasn’t much more to look at.
Their best bet was Dune’s semi-suggestion, going forward to see what lay ahead! “Excellent deductive work, Dune,” Chickpea complimented, voice even dropping to a more gravelly, professional tone, to match the sudden atmosphere. “Let’s go on ahead, see what lies behind!” Their decision definitely, and totally unanimous, Chickpea gave another nod, this one directed at Dune himself, before he toddled bravely into the fog.

Prim didn’t have as much trouble traversing the stairs, unlike her smaller companion. Though that was because she didn’t actually have to walk, but simply hover over to the next step while keeping an eye on Ulani’s progress. Sure, it was annoying to have to keep ascending, and adjusting herself, but Prim honestly didn’t have anything to complain about.
Not that there was any way to voice said complaints.
Though, she might have been tempted to find some way to communicate her displeasure. The thought absently occupied her mind as she settled onto the landing of the new ‘floor’, and stared straight into the dark mouth of a cave before her. This was... Prim huffed.
The flower turned to Ulani, a bit of concern in her gaze when she heard her voice waver, before nodding her head slowly and offering the squirrel a shoulder pat. Just because this wasn’t the most optimal place to get through, they’d get through it! And together! In an attempt to offer Ulani more comfort, Prim extended her hand out to her, giving her the chance to hold her hand as they started making their way into the cave.

Cling was out of breath, not so much from exertion, but from... sheer excitement and nerves. Honestly, he wasn't sure that counted as a battle, but hey, it was something! He'd sort of bonked predators before, when trying to distract them from an innocent or unknowing prey, but he hardly stuck around thereafter. And while he might have been able to land another hit, he still slithered away only to turn around, and watch the poor drifloon deflate, and take a few more hits from the excited toddler pokemon.
"M-mm, good job Dice," he managed, looking past the pokemon as the drifloon shakily pulled itself up, and turned to disappear into the shadows. He exhaled quietly, before looking ahead, slithering through ground a bit. He somewhat tuned out Dice's fit over the opponent leaving, but looked over when he called his 'name'. "I have a feeling there will be more up ahead, Dice," he commented, before gathering some speed, and attempting to leap up. He didn't get much air, but he was able to glide onto the stairs leading up. "Let's see if we can find them, hm?" At least he had a strong little ally with him.

Dotty remained silent, feeling a little nervous as Ai repeated the word balloons. That sounded stupid, didn't it? She was just really nervous and honestly she could swear she heard the sound of deflating balloons. She didn't know what else to call it but oh Arceus it really did sound stupid.
As Dotty silently fretted over nothing, they continued on through the arch and Ai suggested they keep their eyes up. Oh, so maybe she took her assessment seriously then? Well.... That was a relief. "R-ready as I'll ever be, I guess..." She mumbled. Unfortunately, one could only prepare for battles so much. It was part of the reason Dotty disliked them, unpredictable as they were.
And speak of the devil, a drifloon appeared behind Ai and attempted to grab her. Dotty didn't even notice until the lithe espeon rolled out of the way. "Ai, l-look out!" Dotty attempted to warn her as the drifloon went for another grab, this time getting deflected by Ai's psychic energy. Then, the espeon insisted that she was going to power Dotty up. "U-uhhhmm I w-wou—oooohkay wow!!!" She wanted to object, but felt a sudden surge of energy. It felt really strangely empowering as her own red aura mingled with Ai's, crackling red sparks of energy. "Fascinating!" Now she just needed to test it. She flew up into the air with a little twist and flourish before calling down two bolts of red lightning, channeling all her extra energy into the thunder attack. They hit the drifloon and it made an electrified yelp before sinking to the ground, deflated and a little singed.

After running off into the fog, Beltigre thought that she was starting to get onto the right track. "Alright, these smells are starting to smell like the gang," she announced to Shade. "I bet they're pretty close now." She quickened up her pace, even as the fog got denser around her and Shade. Taking a page from the Dallas playbook, she charged forward with brazen abandon, and finally broke out of the fog line to find a large staircase. And floating all around, was a mass of Drifloon. "Whoa. that's a lot of Drifloon." She eyed the floating Pokemon carefully, but didn't notice one of them as it lazily grabbed her by the nape of her neck, and started to float away. "H-Hey! Lemme go, you- Shade! A little help here?!"

It wasn't that harda fight or anythin'," she mused, before looking back to the pup pokemon with a smile, "'Sides, they got each other. They'll prolly be fine!" She puffed up her fur in confidence once more, but paused in consideration, before adding, "Didja wanna wait fer 'em?"

If Samson wasn't so concerned on finding Ammy and Gail, he might have found himself proud that he could still keep up the speed he could. He had bounded forward with little effort, though not as fast as he could have done in his prime. Still, he didn't stop running until he found the swarm of Drifloon, blocking the way of a staircase that carried the scent of Ammy. "You Drifloon, step aside!" he called out. The drifloon didn't seem to pay him any heed, much to the old dog's chagrin.
It was Daemon that took the initiative, and attacked one of the Drifloon. It was strange, though; a Thunder Fang should have ended the fight effortlessly. Perhaps it was not performed properly? "Allow me, Mr. Daemon!" Samson grunted before he leaped into the air, and bit into the Drifloon with his own Thunder Fang. But this time, the Drifloon gave away from the attack, and disappeared completely. Samson landed on the staircase safely, but still shaken by the strange feeling of defeating the foe. "That was...odd. No matter. Forward march!" Samson sniffed the air to confirm the whereabouts of Ammy, and started up the stairs.

... Yes. That... was what they'd said. That that was the direction they ought to go. The wolf pokemon tilted their head to the side, before exhaling in a way that was aaallmost like a sigh, and trotting after the feline pokemon. As they approached an amass of shadowy forms and apparently some stairs, Shade diverted off slightly, choosing to check the perimeter, and see if there was perhaps a way around or through the opponents rather than battling their way in. Not that the chengshen was against battling, but it wasn't at the top of their preferences, either.
A shout for help snagged the pokemon's attention, and they looked back over, noticing Beltigre getting lifted off her feet. Honestly, that was kind of funny, but the possible threat of real danger had Shade running forward after only a sliiiight pause to appreciate the sight. Dark energy gathered around them as they leaped up, and bumped into the Drifloon, knocking Beltigre out of its grasp, and landing at the ready. Blue eyes stared up at the pokemon, then looked do the stairs. They were close.... but Shade wouldn't leave without the torracat, and that seemed to mean they would, in fact, have to battle their way through.

Dice huffed, clearly still agitated that the balloon had slipped away before he’d determined he was finished, giving Cling a disapproving look. He certainly wasn’t done with the pokemon and wasn’t happy it’d run off. As Cling made mention that maybe there were more, the Cubone gave a little squeaky roar and a wave of his club. "Bash all the nighmares!" He shouted in manner that hardly looked nor sounded threatening, before rushing after Cling and towards the stairs. He’d find and smash them all!
Climbing the stairs sucked. Dice was tiny and did not have the flying abilities of his companion Cling and so by the time he reached the top of the landing, the poor baby was just a little bit winded. He managed a few steps in before plopping on his behind to sit and breath. "Dice t-tired! Stairs bad!" He chimed through panting, thrashing his club at the stairs as though it would cause the inanimate objects fear. Eventually the Cubone pushed himself back to his feet, eyes going wide at their new surroundings. A cave! "Home!" He chirped loudly, flailing his hands excitedly in the air. "Noodle cave! Dice home!" Immediately he started rushing off further into the darkness. Caves apparently weren't scary for him. - STATS

After defeating the drifloon, a new path opened up before him, and he ascended the stairs to catch up with Fi and Xiao Lan. He was still rather exhausted from the fight. Much to his embarrassment, the braixen noticed and even commented on it. "Heh, I'll be fine." he insisted with a sheepish grin, scratching the back of his head.

Xiao Lan beamed proudly. "Yeah! Punched bad ghosties right in the face like POW!" She attempted an uppercut of her own, but it threw her flight off balance and spiraling around before she quickly began flapping her wings again to straighten out again.
Daiki followed suit soon enough, and they began to make their way up the stairs, though Xiao Lan was still quite worried for their missing party members. She knew they couldn't be far behind and that her group wouldn't intentionally leave without them, but the fact that they still hadn't caught up just made her nervous.
Still, it couldn't hurt to make their way up the stairs and wait there, as Fianna suggested. "O-okay...." She nodded in agreement, following the two vulpine pokemon up. As they went farther ahead though, the surrounding area seemed to get pretty dark. "Fi fi, can you light your fire stick again...? It's scary here...." She pleaded.

Ammy's tail wagged with her new friend's praise. While she was happy to have done a good job, she didn't want to leave Samson and Daemon in the dust. After having paused to look back, her yellow gaze returned to the Eevee. "Yeah." she agreed - they would definitely be fine. They were the big dogs. A little balloon had no power to stop them. "I'd like to, please. Traveling in a group... it reminds me of home, and it makes me really happy." the lupup replied.

In spite of Noah's clear disagreement, he didn't bother to argue the point further, which was victory enough for Rafflesia. The ivysaur narrowed her eyes at Argo as he ignored her and decided to help Luna out on his own terms. She didn't like it, but at least he was going to help her down. Just in case he continued to be an a*****e though, she looked to Noah as a backup.
Though, the dewott was understandably uncertain about the idea of throwing a shell accurately enough to cut Luna free. "What if I could get you closer?" Raf suggested seriously. "I can't reach her with my vines, but I could lift you close enough to get a better shot." It wasn't the best plan, but it was something. Argo sure was taking his sweet time. "He wants something in return, that's what. A shrewd businessman but a terrible pokemon." She scoffed, silently urging Luna to hang in there.

Argo and Luna vs. Guardian Drifloon A HP: 2/2
With one victim in string already, the drifloon paid little mind to Argo. Instead, they tightened their grip on the eevee and continued hovering where they were. The balloon pokemon was more than willing to continue floating upward, but they... Well, couldn't. Even though the eevee was far lighter than the children their kind usually attempted to prey on, the small creature still had weight, so there was (thankfully) a limit to how high the drifloon could float with the eevee in its grip.
Piper vs. Guardian Drifloon B HP: 0/2
The hurricane was too much, tearing a hole in the drifloon's skin and releasing the air inside. With a noise like a long fart the ghostly balloon flew, twisting and turing as it was propelled through the air. Eventually it landed on the ground with a splat and a puff, disappearing into a black smoke. The other drifloon avoided the noivern after that. Piper's way forward was clear.
Ai and Dotty vs. Guardian Drifloon C HP: 0/2

Along with a yelp, the sharp sound made it clear that the lightning had done its work. The strengthened electric attack punched a hole in in the ghostly balloon, causing it to deflate on the spot. The drifloon's body stayed where it was for a few seconds before dissolving into an inky darkness. The shapeless black smoke wafted up into the air, joining the darkness left behind by the other defeated ghosts. Ai and Dotty were free to continue onwards.
Beltigre and Shade vs. Guardian Drifloon E HP: 1/2
The drifloon was more than content to just float up high with their new kitty, but a strange pokemon had other plans. Before the ghostly balloon could even get their prize a foot off the ground, a silver-furred fox creature jumped up and collided with it. The impact was enough to knock the torracat out of their grip. Once, twice, the drifloon blinked, looking between the two fluffy pokemon. It soon made up its mind and once again reached out to try and take hold of Beltigre, this time attempting to grab with both strings in an effort to keep a firmer grip on their choice.
Daemon and Samson vs. Guardian Drifloon F HP: 0/2
Although the drifloon had managed to withstand the houndoom's fangs, it ultimately exploded into several shreds once the arcanine got his muzzle on it. The pieces of balloon pokemon quickly dissolved into dark smoke and floated upward, some even escaping from Samson's muzzle. The two canines were now free to join their companions on the next floor.
