It wasn't until Naomi reacted with extreme shyness that Austin realized that what he was doing was pretty brash. When Naomi took two steps back, Austin took two steps back as well, his face turning beet red. What the hell was I thinking?! He started to sweat, and he couldn't glance over at Naomi without getting more flustered. "I-I-I'm terrib-terribly sorry!" he barely managed. "I just, you see, I was just-" He took a deep breath, and tried to regain his composure. Good thinking, retard; make a move on the first person that smiled at you, why don't ya? Stupid, stupid, stupid!
After a quick coughing fit, Austin found the courage to apologize properly to Naomi. "I cannot apologize enough, Mr. Shimizu," he said. He hesitated, but he eventually took Naomi's hand and gave him a professional handshake. "Thank you for your hard work, and I hope you can forgive me for my boldness. It's...a Johto tradition to kiss someone that you are very grateful towards, is all. I should've considered the fact that you might be ignorant to that." The last bit was a little white lie to ease the awkwardness, though it didn't do much for the warmth that was swelling in Austin's chest. I gotta call it a night before I get myself in trouble here...
"Now, I suppose it's late," Austin said, sounding more confident with the second,"I'd hate to keep you from whatever activities you have planned...you could stay here tonight, if you wanted to- th-that is, I have spare rooms, not that I wanted to- that is, to say..." Austin stopped talking, and sighed. "Whatever you decide to do, I still plan to start training you tomorrow, just as I promise. " He did his best to smile and hide his ever-growing embarrassment.
Even with his heart still hammering away, Naomi shook Austin's hand properly and with a soft nod. He kept his gaze away from his face however, and for once that had nothing to do with his cultural politeness. "You are very welcome. I was happy to help," he spoke, careful not to mumble his words and remain as coherent as possible. And he had been, really, it was just the last few minutes, and a miscommunication over the transference of gratitude, that had caught him off guard. "It is alright. I always... enjoy learning more about the different cultures," he insisted. Even though he questioned this, he... he didn't have the courage to try and call Austin out on it. No, it was best to just take his explanation as it was, and brush that entire event under the rug. For the sake of both of them.
Naomi chose not to look too deeply into Austin's offer, despite the male's embarrassment, and shook his head gently. "As generous an offer it is, I would not want to impose on you. Thank you though." He bowed as he offered thanks, genuinely grateful, before he shuffled back over to the couch to collect his belongings and Ieyasu. Rotom, who had no reason to even try to be courteous, was already waiting at the door. "I believe it would be best for us to trade numbers," Naomi suggested, the idea coming to him after his fingers had brushed over his communicator in his attempt to return his sewing kit to his bag. Removing the electronic, he offered it to Austin to put his number in. "So that we may stay in contact, and alert each other to anything that might come up." Not to mention, it was the easiest way for Naomi to contact Austin if he had any contest, or Alola, related questions. But... it was best to stick with the more professional options at the moment.

Austin wasn't surprised when Naomi declined his offer. In fact, he was rather relieved that the awkwardness would soon be over with. At the offer of exchanging numbers, the coordinator quickly agreed. "Yes, naturally we should." He took Naomi's communicator, and punched in his number and name before handing it back. "And, so you'll have my number..." Austin quickly sent a text to Naomi's communicator: Thank you once again, Naomi! He smiled at his own little message before he sent it off, and soon found himself yawning.
"Well, my new pupil, I do believe it's time to turn in." He stretched with a light groan, and walked Naomi to the door. "I do hope my faux pas didn't scare you off from my tutelage, by the way. I'm looking forward to teaching you everything I know. In the meantime, be safe, and have a goodnight." He offered the teen a nice bow before shutting the door.
Once he was alone, Austin let out a warm and contented sigh. "What a nice young man," he said aloud. He began to let out his whole team, so they could rest up in their favorite nooks of the house. Austin himself went into the bedroom, and carefully removed his newly repaired jacket. "He really did an amazing job," he commented. "And so shy!~ I really hope he calls in the morning. It'd be nice to have someone to travel around with..."
But then, Austin caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. His smile faded, and his usual, angry grimace crept onto his face. "Oh, who the hell are you kidding?" Dallas quickly disrobed, and plopped onto the bed. "I'll just scare him off in the morning. Better to just push him away as soon as possible." And with that, Dallas went to sleep.

Naomi glanced down at his communicator as it vibrated softly with the arrival of a new email, and he kept a smile as he worked to adding Austin's number; his first contact outside of Ransei, how exciting! With his time coming to an end, at least for the night, Naomi walked to the door. "But of course, it is, how you say, water under the bridge," he assured. He waited until the door had opened before he slipped back into his geta's and stepped back out into the night, where he was greeted by ever watchful Sousa, who didn't seem the bit weary or impatient. "I hope the rest of your evening is a less uneventful one, Austin," Naomi joked, then returned his bow with one of his own.
Once the door shut, Naomi turned to his companions with a soft smile, tightened the strings of his bag, and gestured out towards the empty street. "Shall we?" Not knowing quite where to go, the young man allowed Rotom to lead them to the nearest restaurant that was still open, and with the meager funds Naomi possessed he ordered a meal for himself and his pokemon. It was a bit strange to not be immediately presented with a glass of ice water--apparently, he had to order that--and the hamburger he dined on was different from what he was used to, but all in all it was a pleasant experience, and from the content expression across Ieyasu's, vaguely drowsy, face he could surmise that it had been an enjoyed meal across both ends.
After paying for his meal, Naomi was once more following Rotom, this time to a small boarding lodge. While late, there was more than enough available space for him to book a room, but, since he didn't know just how long he'd be staying in Hau'oli, he kept it safe and only paid for a single night. "...So, you didn't find that the least bit suspicious?" Rotom asked, breaking the silence once they were in the privacy of their room. "I did not," Naomi answered simply, slipping out of his shoes and exploring the room a bit. It was a simple room, with everything from the bed to the kitchen table all in the same area, though properly spaced out, save for the bathroom, which was adjacent from the television. "...He tried to kiss you. Or did you just happen to forget that while you were chowing down?"
Naomi walked over to the vanity, and in its mirror he slowly undid his ponytail, allowing the dark strands to fall loosely around his shoulders. "I have not forgotten. I have just simply put it behind me." Naomi ran the fingers of his left hand through his hair, flattening it down against his scalp, then used his free hand to release Moriyoshi. He deserved to sleep somewhere more comfortable than the insides of his pokeball. "It was a mistake, and one that Austin apologized for. I see no reason to hold that against him." Rotom's irritation was practically audible. No. It was literally audible. The Pokedex began to short-circuit worryingly. "If you will excuse me." Naomi interjected before Rotom could continue voicing his concern. "It is getting late, and I still need to shower." He was, clearly, dismissing the conversation, and Rotom allowed it. If only because he was tired too, and it wasn't as if he cared about what kind of trouble his dumb assignment got into; he could always escape, if worse came to worse.
"Fine then. Just don't say I didn't warn you..." Rotom grumbled, before he floated over to the table to settle down onto it. He'd powered off by the time Naomi reemerged from the bathroom, bathed and more than a little droopy-eyed, the day's travels and events were finally catching up to him. The teen gave a yawn, shuffled himself over to the light switch to turn it off, and then yawned again as he slipped underneath the covers of his bed--also quite different from what he was used to. It was much higher up--and closed his eyes. He was careful not to disturb Ieyasu or Mori, both of whom had chosen the bed to sleep upon as well, and within minutes he was fast asleep.
Though he was in a new region, and on a completely different schedule, his body didn't seem to know the difference. At exactly 6:45 AM, Naomi found himself waking to greet the day. He sat up slowly, hair nothing more than a silky mess, and with a yawn he slipped out of the bed, only to nearly stumble when his feet didn't immediately meet the floor. Ah, right, right... he was in a boarding lounge, not in his room back home. He was quick to recover, and with a soft sigh and a few vain attempts to remove his hair from his eyes, he made his way to his bag and over to his communicator. Despite having only woken up a mere two minutes ago, the promise Austin had made... it was fresh on his mind.
He began to sleepily draft an email, only to stop when he realized he had been typing in Japanese, and far too informally, the bold kanji and four emoticons staring back at him. Naomi hastily backspaced and started typing again, in English this time.
Text to Austin: Good morning! I hope this day finds you well. I have not eaten breakfast yet, and if you would like we could go grab something together. A hearty meal is the best way to prepare one's self for intense training! Would 07:45 work for you? - Naomi

✪Walking Pokemon ⇨ Duchess, the Furfrou
Dallas woke up to his ringtone going off. "Meh...wha?" He fumbled around with covers and pillows to finally found his communicator and read the message. "Naomi wants to get breakfast, eh?" Dallas groaned as he got up, and rubbed his eyes. "Well, might as well scare him off nice and early." Dallas quickly shot off a text back to Naomi: Good morning to you as well! I would love to have breakfast with you, but I have found myself busy with a few business ventures. However, I'll have you meet with my personal assistant and caretaker of my Poke'mon, Dallas Tucker. He can teach you the basics of coordinating in my stead, so you and I can focus on the more advanced and intimate techniques. Please, meet with him at the Malasada Shop in town. In the meantime, take care, Nao-kun! ^_^
After firing off the text, Dallas jumped into the shower (after kicking Riptide out of the bathtub), and got himself cleaned up. As much of a thug he was, he liked to be clean and presentable. He should've thought about that before he tattooed the words 'Riff-raff' on his knuckles, but it was what it was. Once he was cleaned up, he threw on his usual getup, and started working on packing up all of his gear.
His duffle bag was starting to get quite full after his haul from the contest the night before. He had more Poke'mon than he could carry on him now, which was difficult for a lover of all Poke'mon like him; he'd rather just take all of them with him, but for now, Hawlucha and Furfrou were the two new additions to the team for now. More berries, accessories, and all sorts of stuff lined the bag. "I might need to get myself a better bag," he muttered. He would worry about all that at a later time, though. For now, he decided to recall his team (except for his new Furfrou, Duchess, who he decided to spend some time with), and headed out of the door...
...and met with an old couple that was walking up the way. Dallas and Duchess froze, as did the couple. Their confused faces matched all the photos in the house, so Dallas knew exactly what was going on. "Hey, there!" Dallas greeted kindly. "I watered the plants, just like you wanted! See ya!" Dallas shot some finger guns to the wife before trying to make his leave again. "Hold on, young man! I don't remember asking someone to water our plants!" Dallas stopped and sighed; was he really gonna need to beat up an old man, this early? "Look, you told me to do it, old man...aaaaand you said you'd pay me 2,000- I mean, 4,000 to do it!"
The old man scratched his chin. "Oh, that's right, maybe I did...you're Toby, from around the block?" Dallas nodded, naturally. "Oh, well, here you go, then. Oh, and here, have a souvenir from our vacation! We had a great time, but then it got too loud with all the contests and coordi-hoosits." Dallas cocked an eyebrow, and took the money and the "souvenir" brochure of the island that some sort of contest event was happening. "Holy...this is heavy." The thug got an excited look in his eyes, and quickly took off. "Alright see ya have a nice life or whatever screw you!"
Dallas ran down the road with Duchess, holding in his laughter. "This place sounds badass! Once I ditch the pretty boy, I'll take off for this island! Aw yeah!" And with that, it was off to the Malasada Shop to meet with Naomi.
With too many things to get done, Naomi placed his communicator onto the table, lest he waste time trying to wait for Austin's response. A shuffling from behind alerted him to Ieyasu's awakening, unsurprising considering his partner shared the same morning routine as him; it was ingrained into both their body's. "Good morning," he greeted the blurry-eyed fox, quietly so not as to wake up the other two. Ieyasu grunted. "Let us prepare for the day."
First things first, properly wake up, and to do that Naomi trailed into the bathroom and splashed a bit of water onto his face. He blinked rapidly as the cool liquid slid down his cheeks, and wet the collar of his shirt in the process, but by the time he finished drying his face and hands, the teen was fully alert and ready to take on the day. He dressed quickly and afterwards worked on his hair, using his brush to carefully and methodically brush back all loose strands so that he could capture them into a loose ponytail. Once Naomi was fully dressed he worked to wake his other pokemon, and did so by pulling back the curtains of his window and then pushing them open, exposing the room to the full rays of the morning sun. From the foot of the bed, Mori mewled in agitation, though it was drowned out by the sound of an electronic being turned on, mixed with the tail-end of a curse. "-cker, why is it so bright!?" And thus, Rotom was awake too.
Naomi smiled at both and swept back to the table, where Rotom was now drowsily lifting himself into the air, and checked his communicator. Austin had responded, and surprise briefly light his face as he read its contents. "Rotom, would you be willing to show me the way to the city's Mal-sa-du shop?" he inquired, and lifted his head up so as to look at the pokemon. "It's pronounced 'mal-sa-da'." Rotom corrected with a look that quite clearly questioned the human's intelligence, but then he nodded. "Yeah, sure. Whatever. Are we going now?" Naomi responded with a nod of his own, and helped herd Mori off of the bed and towards the door while he worked to reply to Austin.

Five minutes later and Naomi was on his way to the malasada shop, with Sousa in the air and his newly caught Cutiefly buzzing about his head. He'd let her out too, to give her the chance to stretch her tiny wings, and it seemed, just like her wild companions yesterday, she was attracted to his 'aura' as well. Naomi found it both endearing and flattering, he only wished that he could see his aura as well. On the way over, Naomi couldn't help but venture into the Pokémon Mart, curious to see its wares, and though he only wanted to browse he still left with a package of super potions; it was 5 for 4.99, it was a deal he couldn't have afforded to miss! Or at least, that was what the salesman had convinced him of.
Despite his side-trip Naomi still managed to arrive at the shop in a timely manner and before Dallas, or at least... that was what could be assumed. The shop itself only had a few customers inside, and they appeared to all belong to the same party. It could be assumed that Dallas would arrive by himself. Uncertain of who to look for, Naomi waited patiently outside the shop's door. He hadn't asked Austin for a physical description of his associate, his own mistake, so he could only hope that Austin had told Dallas who to look for. That or start asking every man within a certain age rage, about 15 to 25, that walked by if their name was Dallas.

✪Walking Pokemon ⇨ Duchess, the Furfrou
Dallas took his time on his way to the Malasada Shop. He didn't want to get there too early; he wanted to surprise Naomi as harshly as possible so he could go on to this coordinator island he had recently discovered. He'll run back for his little region as soon as I'm done with him, he thought. He didn't feel too good about scaring away a nice young man, but he knew himself well enough to know he was making the right decision.
As he walked in his 'don't talk to me' swagger, Duchess walked -no, strolled- like a Poke'mon with a true pedigree. It was clearly a well-cared-for Furfrou, which begged more questions on how the whole illegal contest scene worked. Did Dallas just voluntarily involve himself in poached Poke'mon? Team Skull was in charge of the place, after all. Well, at least they got a good home with me now, he reminded himself. Heck, I hate people, but Poke'mon...they're just so great!
After a nice stroll, Dallas and Duchess were in front of the Malasada Shop. Just as they would walk in, a nice young couple was heading out. Perfect. The thug swiped the couple's malasada, much to their protest, and gave it to Duchess, who quickly scarfed it down. "Aw, you mad? Fight me, punk!" The teens quickly took off, frightened by the foreigner's demeanor. He forced his way passed them, and pushed his way into the shop abruptly.
He knew exactly who Naomi was, and, even though his stomach fluttered a little, he really let the young man have it. "So, you're the pipsqueak that Austin thinks is so special!" Dallas smirked at Naomi, his eyes giving out a nasty glare. "Well, you don't look like much. Nice dress, I guess." He threw down some of the money that the poor old couple had given him, and ordered two spicy malasadas, regardless of Naomi's tastes. "Look, I'm gonna cut to the chase, newbie," Dallas said, "I don't think you could find your butt with both hands, let alone coordinate. So, you got two options: you can scram and not waste my time, or you can eat a malasa-whatever and I'll put you through a grueling training regimen that'll leaving you crying and bruised."
As if on queue, the malasadas were ready. Dallas gruffly took them, and held one out to Naomi. "Hurry up and make a decision, loser. I don't have all day to waste on some girly-looking dork." Dallas smiled with a nasty amount of confidence. He was sure that Naomi would walk away, and then he'd be...well...alone again. Hm.
Though he had every intention to wait for Dallas and intercept him at the front of the shop, certain bodily functions made Naomi reconsider. His stomach growled, joining forces with the rumblings of his pokemon to create quite the symphony of hunger. Though he himself could wait until after joining Dallas to eat, he wouldn't force his pokemon to do the same. So it was with a quick look down the street, to make sure that no one was coming in, that he slipped inside with all but Sousa. Who waited patiently outside, choosing to remain stoic even though his stomach had been the loudest.
"Mal-a-sa-da. Mal-a-sa-da." Naomi practiced pronouncing the region's treat underneath his breath as he waited at the counter to order, while at the same time he scanned the menu's items. The shop only sold one dish, but it came in a variety of different flavors, and after some contemplation he ordered five, each their own flavor, and then waited patiently for his order to arrive. Though he had yet to taste one, he had to admit... the smells that wafted from the kitchen and filled the entire restaurant were appetizing; he could only hope that Dallas arrived soon, so that he too could eat. Luckily, or rather unluckily depending on whose view you took, it seemed Arceus was listening to Naomi's silent plea. As, not even thirty seconds later, and the Ransei native found himself being accosted intercepted by Austin's associate.
As always, he listened before he spoke, and Naomi quietly followed Dallas to a booth and sat down. Goodness, he was certainly not what he expected, and he didn't pull any punches. He kept his hands folded gently in his lap, making room for both Mori and Ieyasu on his side of the booth as they joined him. The latter was far from pleased with the larger human's tone, but he kept his fur from bristling and the soft growl reverberating in the back of his throat to a simmer. Mori, in comparison, was much calmer, and had taken a familiar curled up position as he waited for his food. Cutiefly... she did her best to keep as much distance from the rough-man with the thorny aura, while also trying to maintain her closeness with Naomi. Rotom... deadpanned. He... wow. Okay.
Naomi still had not spoken a word by the time Dallas' order of malasada had arrived, but he politely took the one offered to him with a nod of thanks. He refrained from taking a bite out of it just yet, and looked up when another, much larger, order arrived at their table. That would be his. "Please excuse me," he spoke quietly before taking the basket his food had arrived in and taking it outside. All but Cutiefly stared after him, unsure of whether or not to follow, and could only watched as the doors closed behind him. They were quiet,
Outside, he smiled and held out the basket for Sousa, offering him the chance to pick out two. "I know how hungry you are," he explained with a laugh and the bird sheepishly--or as much so as a cold bird of prey could be--took two and crushed them into his beak, sending cream everywhere. Naomi laughed again, but was quick to help with the clean up. "I hope that was enough to hold you for now. I will try and obtain something more substantial for you after this," he promised, and then gave his pokemon a soft pat before he turned back around and re-entered the shop.
"I am sorry for the abrupt departure, I had to feed my other pokemon. His size prevents him from joining us." Naomi explained as he slid back into the booth. He broke the other three malasada apart and divided them amongst the rest of his team, and once they were taken care of he turned to Dallas. He offered him a warm smile. "What you referred to as a 'dress' is a yukata, it is common formal ware back in my region. This one in particular my mother helped to create, and I thank you for the compliment. I am sure she would be more than pleased," he explained, slowly and genuinely. He was correcting him on a mistake he viewed as common for those not knowledgeable of his culture, and he did so with a smile and slow-building flattery. It was a comfort to know that his mother's stylings were appreciated. "As for your doubts of me, they are not unwarranted. I am new to coordinating and the regions, and my knowledge on both are severely lacking. But, I would like to assure you, that while I have no experience, I hope to make up for it with determination and an eagerness to learn. If you will teach me, I shall do my absolute best to absorb the information and build myself into a proper coordinator. I will not shy away from your methods, as brutal as they may be."
Naomi took a breath, and something of a break just long enough to look at his own malasada. The one Dallas had purchased for him. It was fresh, crisp, and by far the most delicious piece of food that he'd laid eyes on since arriving to Alola. It was also, no doubt, getting cold, so it was best to eat it now. Naomi took a bite, sugar immediately finding itself onto his cheek, and savored the soft dough, decorated with a generous dusting of sugar, and the creamy filling packed with a detectable, but not overwhelming, addition of spice; it was heaven. He chewed on his first bite slowly, then reached for a napkin to wipe his mouth. That would hold him... long enough for him to utter this next sentence. "I do not wish to waste your time. So I shall give you my answer now: I am more than willing to be taken underneath your tutelage." It wasn't rushed, it wasn't timid. It was an answer, while immediate, was one filled with conviction and surety. He was not put off by Dallas' rough mannerism, his abrasiveness, or his insults. He was ready and willing.
And then Naomi went back to eating.

Dallas smiled when Naomi left the shop. He relaxed himself then, kicking his feet up onto the table and leaning back in the booth. "Heh. Easy as pie!" He took a deep bite of his malasada, and his eyes started to water. Gyeh, why'd I order spicy?!" But, it wasn't a big deal; he definitely accomplished his goal of scaring off Naomi. He'll come back in here, and say, "Oh, I'm sorry, but I have to decline, yadda yadda yadda." Then I'll be back on track! Duchess picked up on Dallas' smugness, and the Furfrou sat straighter and pointed her nose up to the air, glaring at Naomi's Poke'mon that sat across from them.
The thug was took cocksure of himself that he didn't even notice Naomi feeding his Braviary, though Duchess watched from the window, curiously. If she knew what the whole plan was or could talk, she might have said, 'hey, he doesn't look that upset at all!' Instead, she barked to get her new trainer's attention. "Easy, Duchess, inside voices, okay?" Duchess leered at Dallas, but her annoyance subsided when he scratched the sweet spot behind her ear.
Soon, Naomi entered and was returning to the booth. Aw yes, here we go... Dallas kept his relaxed pose, though he went back to his common scowl as Naomi sat down and began talking. Dallas didn't reply to the smaller man's apology, merely cocking an eyebrow up. And then there was...was Dallas being corrected? The thug sat back properly, and eyed Naomi with a mix of confusion and anger. "Oh, thank goodness you explained," he replied, rolling his eyes. "So, it's not a dress, it's a yukata that you made with your mommy. Totally not a dress." He was so giddy with his remark, he accidentally blocked out Naomi's remarks. Heh, I almost feel bad for this guy. Almost. I mean, a bright-eyed kid that wants to explore the world. Psh, what a load. I mean, is that what I'm doing? Yeah, but...it's different. Totally.
After what felt like a long pregnant silence, Naomi took a bite of malasada and spoke: "I do not wish to waste your time. So I shall give you my answer now: I am more than willing to be taken underneath your tutelage." Dallas looked at Naomi for a moment and shrugged. "Hey, can't blame ya, loser," he replied, standing up. "It takes a real man to realize that he's totally useless, so don't feel so bad about saying-waitaminute, did you say you WANNA train under me?!" Dallas looked at Naomi with disbelief. "Are you soft in the head or something? I just said, I'm gonna put ya through hell, you dingus! Are you slow? Do you really wanna do this?!"
Ieyasu stared from Duchess to Dallas, the smug expression shared by both trainer and pokemon enough to cause him to join Rotom in deadpanning. He was aware of what his trainer was doing, hence why he didn't bother getting up to follow him, but... he was beginning to have second thoughts on having these sorts of characters anywhere near them. "A real wonder why Austin would entrust any of his pokemon with you," Rotom commented, loud enough for Dallas to hear. Mori... just continued resting; was this all the cat ever did? A sense of relief passed through the pokemon, of those who were conscious at least, as Naomi returned. Without prompting, Mori opened both eyes and sat up, just in time to take his half of a sour malasada. He took a bite, then mewled in content.
Naomi nodded his head with confirmation as Dallas spoke, oblivious to the sarcasm in his tone; or unwilling to comment on it. "Precisely. If you are interested, I could show you a dress from the Ransei region, and compare the difference between it and a yukata."[/color] His offer prompted him to consider if any of the Alolan shops sold any of Ransei's styles. It was probable, and he had yet to investigate any of the clothing shops on the island. So the probability was a decent one.
Jaw working furiously to chew his food, Naomi followed Dallas with his eyes as he stood up from the booth. With mouth full he couldn't immediately respond, even if he wanted to. It seemed Dallas was confused? He'd apparently misheard him and thought he'd declined. How odd. Had he just been that convinced that Naomi would've said no? By the time he'd finished chewing his bite, swallowing, and wiping his mouth, however, the blonde had arrived to the truth on his own.
"No, my head is hard. Just like yours," Naomi stated. "I am very aware of what you said, Dallas. But you will not scare me off or convince me to run away. If you do not want to teach me, however, that is a completely different matter. I will not hold it against you, and if need be I shall ask Austin if he has any other associates willing to teach me until he returns." This wasn't something he could be put off of, not when he was already so invested. This was what he had wanted after all. A year to make his own decisions, and experience anything and everything he could before he had to go back home. He didn't have the luxury to reconsider, and certainly not to back down from what he wanted.

Dallas stared at Naomi impatiently as he waited for his soon-to-be student to answer him. The amount of trouble he seemed to go through to be proper and polite was enough to make the thug's blood boil. And one would think that Naomi's response would make him even angrier, but in fact, Dallas was surprised by the sureness of the young man's words. So, he thinks he can go the distance, huh? If he thinks he can stick it out, I guess I'll just have to put him to the test. Dallas had to get over the fact that he might not be able to scare of Naomi. Yet.
The thug lightened his glare, and softened his scowl before placing a foot on the edge of the table with a loud clank! and pointing a finger right in Naomi's face. "Congratulations, Na-moron!" he exclaimed. "You just passed your first lesson in coordinating!" He was sure there was some confusion rising, so he quickly explained himself. "Rule Number One of Coordinating: Perseverance and Confidence are key! If you're too shook, get off the stage!" The teacher shoved a thumb at his own chest. "Rule Number Two of Coordinating: When I tell you something, ya better treat it like gospel, or I'll have to beat the info into you!" Once he felt he got the point across, he motioned towards the door. "Now c'mon, we're heading to the docks." Dallas stormed out, expecting Naomi to follow.

One the way to the docks, Dallas began to explain why they were going to the docks in the first place. "So, lemme break this down for you," Tucker-Sensei said. "So, coordinating is not acknowledged universally in all the regions. The only two that even have legitimate contest halls and contenders are Hoenn and Sinnoh. Now, you wouldn't stand a chance in either leagues (Heck, neither would I) but you need to get some real, legal practice. That's why we're taking a little field trip." As they walked, Dallas handed over the flier that outlined the details of the contest island. "It's not too far to get to by boat. You're gonna see some real contests, and you'll even see me or even Austin show you how we do it back in Goldrenrod City!"
As they neared the docks, Dallas had a new thought pop into his head. "That reminds me, twerp: Let's see what Poke'mon you have. Rule Number Three: Poke'mon all have potential, but not at everything. So go on, whip 'em out, on the double!"
Naomi jumped, startled, when Dallas placed his foot onto the table -- goodness, wasn't he flexible. He blinked and then glanced at the finger in his face, eyes criss-crossing in the process. It was like instinct to gloss over Dallas' insult or, rather, the pout that had begun to form in response was almost immediately replaced by a smile. He was in a bit of an emotional whirlwind, from shock, to displeasure, and then excitement and confusion. He had... passed? His teaching methods were... unconventional, and yet Naomi found himself smiling all the same. "Yes sensei!" he chirped, and resisted the urge to pull out pen and paper to write these 'rules'. He'd be able to remember these!
He made certain that his pokemon had finished their own meals then hopped up to join Dallas, needing to put a little pep in his step in order to keep up with him; being taller meant that Naomi had to work his legs a little harder, and increase his stride just a little more. Sousa, who had perched himself onto the roof of a building adjacent to the Malasada shop, took into the skies and followed close behind when he noticed Naomi exiting quickly. The teen listened and walked, nodding his head to Dallas' information with wide eyes. "A field trip?" he repeated the word, curious, right before looking down at the flier passed into his hand. A soft sound of excitement, like one trying to catch their breath too quickly, left his lips as he read over the event in detail. He still managed to listen to Dallas as he did so, and Naomi lifted his head back up to look at the male. "You and Austin are from the same city?"
He perked up at the mention of introducing his pokemon, and with a soft 'ah', Naomi slowed to a stop and indicated towards Ieyasu first. "This is my partner, Ieyasu. We have been working together for over eight years now." The Eevee gave a reluctant bark of greeting, before taking the liberty of stepping in between Naomi and Dallas. Naomi, unperturbed, directed Dallas' attention to the sky next. "That is Sousa, I have had him only a little less than Ieyasu." Naomi introduced, and from there he went on to acquaint him with his newer pokemon. "This is Moriyoshi, the Professor was kind enough to give him to me. Rotom was also gifted to me by him, though he is more of a... guide than a fighting pokemon, he has been of great help so far. And this is... Tomoe, I only caught her yesterday in the meadows just north of the city." He had only just thought of the nickname, and hoped that the Cutiefly liked it. Naomi extended a single finger out to her, and then smiled as the small creature alighted onto it before staring back at him; so cute~
Naomi, kept distracted by Tomoe and just introducing his pokemon in general, that he failed to notice a commotion further down the docks. A small cherry of a pokemon skipping happily about, listlessly moving in between the legs of those walking by in the most carefree of manners. From the air a Trumbeak gave chase, at one point even dive-bombing the pokemon with outstretched talons only to miss at the very last second. The other pokemon gave a cheerful shrill; the two were playing a game! Or at least, that's what it appeared to be to any who were ignorant to the nature of Bounsweet and Trumbeak's relationship. Or could distinguish a joyful cry with a panicked plea for help. Mori was of the latter, and in a flash he had moved away from Naomi and was heading for the Bounsweet. He spat out a flurry of flames at the Trumbeak, a warning to keep back, before raising his hackles and hissing menacingly. It wasn't enough of a display to deter the hungry bird, and with an indignant squawk it swooped in once more, only to be thwarted at the last second by a much larger bird of prey. Sousa struck the small avian with his talons, the impact sending it careening off course and towards the docks. It managed to avoid hitting the earth at the last second, but between the cat and the eagle... the Trumbeak decided it'd have much better luck going after prey that didn't come with bodyguards. With one last squawk, the bird chose the smart decision of turning tail (feathers).
Having two pokemon suddenly leave was enough to grab Naomi's attention, and the teen waited for Mori and Sousa to return, the former escorting the Bounsweet with him. "That's a Bounsweet," Rotom reported, already two steps ahead of Naomi. "They get attacked by tons of other pokemon, because of a scent they secrete. They make for easy pickings' since most people are too ignorant to know that they're in trouble. Like you." Slipping in the insult was easy, it was as natural as breathing, and afterwards Rotom looked down at the grass type. "...This one's a little different though. Must be a new variant of a shiny," he hazarded a guess, though by his tone of voice it was clear that he'd already grown bored of the topic. "That is terrible," Naomi murmured, choosing to acknowledge all but the (accurate) insult thrown his way. He knelt down to inspect the Bounsweet, and was relieved to find it unscathed. "You are quite the hero, Mori," he mused afterwards, pleased with his pokemon's act of heroism. Bounsweet was certainly grateful, and with a soft chirp she leaned in to rub herself against Mori.

"Oh, well, yeah, Austin and I went to the same school, used to bully him all the time before he started paying me to train for 'em." It was quick lie, but it's not like it was unbelievable that a nice man like Austin paid off a bully to be a helper. He kept his quick pace, not worrying about the fact that his shorter student was trying to keep up. "So yeah, been doing that for awhile now, and now I'm stuck with you." Dallas honestly didn't know how to teach coordinating. He had learned everything he knew from old specials on tv and outdated magazines from his time at correctional school. Granted, his way of coordinating obviously worked, but trying to put it to words was going to be a challenge. Man, why couldn't he had just blown off?
Soon, Naomi was showing off his team. Dallas squatted down and gave Ieyasu a good once-over. "Hm.I remember the way this guy was lookin' at me earlier. A little bodyguard, looks like he's really protective...I'd say he'd do well in Cool or Tough contests." He thought about trying to pet him, but figured that the Eevee didn't care much for the mean ol' thug. Dallas instead stood up to get a better look at Sousa, the Braviary. Now that's a nice Poke'mon right there," Dallas commented, "But my guess is that with the serious way he looks, his current technique is more about getting the fight done than any sort of showmanship. It'd take a lot of practice to get Sousa here into any sort of contest and win." When it came to Mori, Dallas couldn't help but smirk. "What, did you see Austin's Litten and get the same idea or something?" he taunted. "Well, he'd do well in a Cute contest, but I'd bet his style will change as it grows." Last but not least, there was the Cutiefly. D'AW! SO CUTE!!!! Dallas leaned in close to get a good view of the little bee fly, and held in his need to dote on the little thing. "A lot of people-which probably includes you- don't realize that Bug type are usually really smart. It's also got a real chibi factor going on, too. But, I'd say going for a Clever contest with this little girly."
His analysis was done for now, but Dallas still had some more lecturing and berating to do. However, the sound of a bird Poke'mon caught Duchess' ears, and she began to bark in that direction. "What now?" The thug looked to the sky to see what he guessed was a Pikipek evolution attack a... a Cherubi, maybe? Before Dallas could even react, Sousa was already on the scene, taking care of business. He simply squatted down and wrapped an arm around Duchess' neck, just as she attempted to run off to see what the ruckus was. "Hold, Duchess, let the dweeb and his team take care of it." He couldn't help but admire how powerful and swift the Braviary was; it was all over before they knew it. Once the attacking bird was off and running, Dallas and Duchess joined Naomi with the odd little fruit-shaped Poke'mon.
"So, that's a Bounsweet, huh?" It had a nice coloring to it, almost like a cherry dipped in chocolate. "Well, luckily your team isn't as oblivious as you are, Naomi, or you'd have a helluva guilty conscious." He didn't know much about Bounsweet, but he could definitely tell that it had some real potential. "You better take the little fruit ball with you; you never know if it'll be the best member of your contest crew." To emphasize the need to expedite the decision, he gave Naomi a nudge. "Hurry up, we got a boat to catch!"

A little ten year old girl carrying a Pokemon at least a foot taller than her that weight a billion pounds would probably be quite a sight to people, but they saw that Cuno was hurt and instead attempted to help. Unfortunately, Cuno didn't trust anyone else and would give a feral squawk when people got close enough. It got to the point where Erryn had to tell them she could handle it on her own before they got close enough to save Cuno the trouble. Before long, she reached the center and practically burst through the automatic doors. The nurse took one look at them and immediately wheeled over a stretcher with her own Pokemon companion."What happened!?""There were some bad people and we tried to fight them off, but....Can you help it?""We'll certainly do our best."Erryn watched the nurse help Cuno onto the stretcher before her Pokemon wheeled it away. But, she ended up following up until the door to the emergency rooms stopped her."Please be okay.""...Would you like to go back and wait for it there? You'll have to stay in the hall, but I'm sure it'd feel better if its trainer was close by.""I'm not Cuno's trainer, but can I?"The nurse gave a gentle smile and nodded before leading Erryn into the back. Once she was standing outside the room Cuno was in, which had a window for viewing, the nurse had to return to the counter and left Erryn alone. Why had those people been after the egg? What was it? Maybe the nurse would know. Or, maybe Oak. He was a professor, so he should have an idea, right?

As Erryn stood in the hall and watched as the nurse Pokemon took care of Cuno, she remembered Farah and got out the Charmander's ball. When she let Farah out, Erryn sat down against the wall and hugged her knees to her chest. It was a lot more dangerous than she thought it would be. That didn't mean she wanted to give up or anything; she just worried about what would happen to her and her Pokemon on the journey. Or, after she went home. Erryn wouldn't be able to take them back with her."Char...?""I'm okay. Just a bit worried about Cuno. And, Bryant....I hope he's okay."Farah curled up next to her and Erryn smiled a bit, patting her head softly. She was a sweet Pokemon.
