"I will return to this world...

Kazu Matsumoto

... To fight for this new future."

~Mission Start!~

The gym was still dark and dank. Kazu's lip curled as the smell tugged at his nostrils. He let out a dissatisfied grunt. Buraimon was talking in private with Agumon round the back and they had left Kazu on his own for a while.
"Man... Why are we even here..."
There was a lound bang as a door on the opposite side of the gym was flung open.
"The reason you are here, young master, is to get back in shape!"
Kazu recoiled slightly at the seriousness in Buraimon's voice. He raised his hand in mock surrender,
"This isn't a game. For the next month we will be training non-stop. Push-ups, running, weights, the lot! I refuse to let you leave the city until you can protect yourself."
Kazu let out a deep sigh, this all sounded like a lot of effort.
"I'm pretty sure I can handle myself out there..."
Buraimon scoffed, he walked over to the battered boxing ring in one corner of the gym and lifted the ropes.
"This coming from you, who could not even jog after his energetic friends?"
Buraimon stepped into the ring and gestured for Kazu to follow, the Tamer begrudgingly complied, sliding through the ropes and onto the hard mat floor. Agumon also hopped into the ring, a towel draped over one shoulder.
"Ok guys? ready to start?"

Kazu raised an eyebrow at Agumon's statement. He turned his quizzical gaze to Buraimon who grinned as he began to explain.
"I knew that you wouldn't want to go through all this training. So I will offer you an ultimatum. If you can land even a single blow on me, I will concede that you are prepared for the Digital World outside of New Network City."
The grin on Buraimon's face became more sinister as he concluded.
"But if I defeat you in this bout then not only will you have to train... But also the other three Digimon will have to join!"
Kazu's face drooped, he looked to Agumon for help but the orange Digimon simply shrugged.
"What can I say. It's been over three years since you left. We need the training to reach our peak again."
Kazu sighed and shrugged his shoulders.
"Man... Fine then!"
In a flash Kazu had whipped his black jacket off of his back and tossed it to one side. He unbuttoned the top few buttons of his shirt and took a fighting stance.
"But don't say I didn't warn you!"

Agumon stood in the middle of the ring, one claw raised. He looked between Buraimon and Kazu before swinging his arm down in a chopping motion.
"Begin!"
Kazu let a grin flash across his face as his leg muscles tensed up. With a grunt he pushed his body forwards, letting his right arm lag behind slightly while holding his left up as a defense. It only took a second or two for Kazu to have crossed the ring, as he reached his opponent he dug his left foot into the mat directly in front of the samurai and launched his right fist forward with everything he had!
"Ka-ooft!"
Suddenly, Kazu was staring at the ceiling, all of the air knocked out of him and a sharp pain in his back and his right arm. Buraimon stood above him tutting with a smiled across his beak.
"Slow, unrefined and sloppy. Is this the kind of man you have become... V-Tamer?"
Kazu's eyes grew wider as he spluttered for breath. No one had called him that in a long time. Oxygen finally crept down into his lungs as he coughed up words once again.
"That's.... Not... Who I am... Anymore..."
Buraimon nodded, he walked past Agumon, snatching the towel from the Dino's claw.
"No you are not... But that's who we need..."
Buraimon threw the towel before Kazu then left the room in silence, leaving Agumon to tend to his incapacitated Tamer. Kazu watched the samurai leave and slammed a fist into the mat in equal parts anguish and anger.
"Bugger..."

"I will return to this world...

Kazu Matsumoto

... To fight for this new future."

~Mission Continue!~

The first week of Kazu's training had begun. The first day seemed alright, running laps around New Network City seemed easy enough anyways. However as Kazu reached the half way point of lap 1 of 10 he began to feel the burn. Kazu came to a staggering standstill alongside a cafe, sweat pouring from his brow and showing through his shirt.
"Gah... I hate... Running..."
From behind him he heard three voices arguing laughing and generally sounding like they were having fun. Kazu turned a distasteful eye to see his partners Veemon, Agumon and Gabumon trotting along as a brisk pace. As the three approached they began to jeer and jibe at their Tamer as they carried on past him.
"Slow poke!"
"C'mon! This is nothing!"
"You're way better than this!"
Kazu raised a certain finger at them as they passed by, before carrying onwards on his own run.

Kazu hadn't finished his run until late into the evening that night. The other three had welcomed him home, but Buraimon showed no sympathy, instead handing Kazu his food and reminding him of the early start he had in the morning. Kazu had begrudgingly eaten the food and passed clean out. The next day Kazu was so tired he barely made it around one block before feeling like he needed to stop. However, this time he was more or less even with his partners, keeping the pace up. He powered through the pain and maintained the pace of his allies until a good 4 laps into the city. That evening Kazu took the food without a word, gulped it down in one go and again fell fast asleep.

The next 5 days continued in a similar vein, with Kazu steadily improving each day. By day 6 he was keeping up with his partners for all ten laps of the city without lagging behind. And on the final 7th day of week one Kazu was actually running the city circuit faster than his three friends. As he arrived back at Agumon's old gym, a stern-faced Buraimon awaited him. Kazu came to a halt and placed his hands on his knees, bent over and panting.
"Hey... I totally kicked arse today huh?"
Buraimon did not acknowledge Kazu's words, instead opening the door and guiding him to where a bowl of food was waiting. Kazu tucked into the hot rice and sauce as Buraimon left the room.
"Be sure to give the others their share. Tomorrow we begin weight training."
Kazu stuck his tongue out at Buraimon's back and shoveled more rice down his throat. He was exhausted, but he could feel himself improving.
"The others'll know what to do. I'm hitting the hay..."
With that, Kazu gulped the last of his bowl and headed through to the small sleeping quarters they had prepared at the back of the gym. The first week of four had been completed. But by the end, Kazu would still have to defeat Buraimon's challenge...

"I will return to this world...

Kazu Matsumoto

... To fight for this new future."

~Mission Continue!~

The dawn of the second week of Kazu's training was an early one. Buraimon had left a schedule of the day's 12 hour regimen. Kazu's jaw dropped as he saw the extent of what he would have to accomplish. Every hour had a different exercise that worked a different area of his body. Each day the weights and number of reps would increase, something Kazu was certianly not looking forward to.
"We'll we'd better get started eh?"
Around him, Veemon, Agumon and Gabumon all let out a communal sigh as they lazily headed towards the weights. Kazu begrudgingly followed them heading for the sit-up section first.

"Ninety....Nine... One...One....One-Hundred!"
Kazu collapsed onto his back as he finished the final set of weights for the day. The dun bells he was using fell to the ground with a soft thump, they weren't all that heavy but the sheer amount of reps he had to do on Buraimon's regime had totally exhausted him. As with the prior week, his partners had completed their schedules far before him and had already eaten and gone to bed by the time Kazu staggered in. A bowl of rice lay out on the table with a note scrawled on it.
"You can do it! Keep up the good work!"
A soft smile crossed Kazu's face as he put the note down and tucked in to his food.

The next few days passed by Kazu in a blur. Nothing but weights and pushing himself to his limits. Everyday he could feel himself improving, everyday he could feel his muscles slowly improving, the only thing that kept him going was a solitary thought: "You need to get Stronger!" Kazu pushed himself harder and harder each day, forcing himself to go above and beyond Buraimon's strict exercises. But the last day of the week, Kazu was forcing his body to go at double the reps set for him by his trainer. The second week came to a close with Kazu and his training buddies competing in a challenge.

Sweat poured from their brows, the callouses on their hands hardened from the week's intense training.
"Lift number One Hundred!"
Kazu hoicked the bar above his head, his grin spreading manically as he went into the lead. Gabumon was peeled out on the ground below, he'd reached 77 lifts before he couldn't continue. Agumon was collapsed next to him, he had given in at 93 lifts.
"You think that's impressive!? One...Hundred!!"
Kazu grimaced as Veemon caught up to him in lifts. The little blue Digimon shot his Tamer a sly look, the challenge was getting serious... And Kazu was loving every second!
"First one to ten wins buddy!"
"Bring it on!"
Both of them locked eyes from across the benches and began to furiously raise and lower the bar. Once, twice, three times! Kazu could feel the muscles involved in lifting shaking as he reached four, but at the same time he could see that Veemon's arms were beginning to quiver as well. The fifth lift from the pair caused them to both grunt in pain. Kazu's mind numbed as the sixth seventh and eighth lifts were forced out.
"NIIIIIIINE!"
Veemon clicked his tongue as he also pushed to nine lifts. The pair looked each other square in the eye and they both roared!
"TEN!"
"TEN!"
As the bars hit their peak, the two competitors felt their consciousness leave them and they collapsed backwards, the heavy bars crashing hard into the ground behind them. Agumon and Gabumon lifted their heads to see the passed out pair.
"Let's get these hot heads to bed..."
"Man, I thought our lifting was over..."
Agumon and Gabumon laughed as they lifted the Tamer and Digimon over their shoulders and carried them to the sleeping quaters.

The month of Training had reached the halfway point!

"I will return to this world...

Kazu Matsumoto

... To fight for this new future."

~Mission Continue!~

A bead of sweat ran down Kazu's nose. He winced and was greeted with a painful slap on the top of his head from a stick.
"Focus!"
It was the third day of week three and the theme of the week was (as Buraimon had shouted) Focus. Kazu had to stand perfectly still for the 12 hour day, without wincing, flinching or moving in any way. To boot, Buraimon had moved Kazu to the top of the highest building in New Network City. After a few close-calls due to cross-winds, Kazu had finally nailed down being able to stand still, however after an hour or so he would lax in his focus and Buraimon would punish him. Initially it was a paper fan, then day two it became a rolled up newspaper and now it had become a stick.

"C'mon! This is hard!"
Kazu's protests were met with another sharp whack to the head. He bit his lip and squeezed his eyes shut again. The whole discipline thing was not his strong suit, eventually he let his mind wander and contemplate recent events. He'd returned to the Digital World just about a month ago, so far things had seemed more peaceful, what with the DRF running about enforcing regulations. But there was a sense of unease in the air, a mission had gone out a while back to Freezeland and no-one had heard back in a while. Not to mention the mission system itself caused Kazu a bit of anxiety. Why would the DRF recruit unknown sometimes untrained Tamers to go on potentially dangerous missions across the Digital World. His brow creased in thought and was met with a sharp thwack to his head.
"Grarrgh!"
Buraimon jerked his head towards the roof's only door,
"More focus Kazu! We continue this tomorrow!"
Kazu stuck his tongue out at the back of Buraimon's head, a bitter cracking pain hit him square in the center of his forehead. Kazu reeled and fell on his back as Buraimon's whacking stick rolled across the roof. Kazu grimaced then laughed it off, scurrying off after his trainer.

On the last day of the third week, there was not a sound on the roof of New Network City's tallest building. Kazu stood, feet shoulders width apart, eyes closed and his mind wide open. Buraimon stood next to him, samurai sword poised above Kazu's head. It was the 59th minute of the 12th hour and Kazu hadn't broken his form once. Buraimon checked the clock hanging above main square as the second hand ticked to the 12 o'clock position.
"That's time. You can cease now Kazu..."
Kazu's eyes opened slowly as he let out a long breath. He had done it.
"I hope you've enjoyed your week off. Starting tomorrow is combat training."
Kazu nodded firmly and waved Buraimon off as he left the roof. The Tamer walked over to the edge of the roof and gazed out over his new City. He was getting there, slowly but surely. He would protect this new world. And he knew that he had to complete Buraimon's challenge to get anywhere close to being strong enough to achieve that goal...

"I will return to this world...

~Mission Continue!~

The room was silent. Veemon's eyes were locked on his Tamer's, his right hand was out to the side, flexing his fingers into a fist and back again. Kazu stood across the ring from him, fist raised and poised in front of him ready to either defend or attack. Agumon was laid on the ground in the corner of the ring, a small lump forming on his head, Gabumon was rolling in a corner holding his stomach. The two left standing were panting heavily, the day's combat left them at breaking point. Kazu's eyes scanned the arena, but all of the sticks and other brittle weapons that had been left available to use had been shattered across the day.

"Ready buddy?"
Veemon nodded, the little blue Digimon spat onto the mat and pounced forward. Kazu shut his eyes for a moment, taking in the sound of his partner moving. Snapping his eyes open, Kazu dove to the right, as Veemon's tough skull slammed into the floor where he once stood. Kazu grunted, throwing out his hand to break his fall. Kazu spun on his outstretched hand and returned to his feet, taking a quick hop backwards to give himself some room, but Veemon wasn't too far behind. After landing on his head he had rolled forwards and kicked off in Kazu's direction with his fist outstretched. Kazu had just enough time to raise his arms in front of his face before his partner's fist collided and knocked him off balance.
"Not... Bad!"
Kazu landed on his butt, and threw his legs backwards, over his head in a backward-roll, returning him to his feet. He pounced forwards and swung his leg, his foot connecting solidly with his partner's stomach.
"Guurk!"
Veemon retched as he flew backwards across the ring, bouncing into the ropes and onto the floor. He tried to lift himself back to his feet, but his arms shook too much and he collapsed, he feebly tapped the mat indicating his defeat. Kazu dropped to his knees and let out a long sigh.
"That's the first time I've won all this week..."

It was true, Buraimon had set it up so that all week Kazu would have to fight against Agumon, Gabumon and Veemon all at the same time with nothing but a few bamboo sticks and the occasional staff to defend himself with. The first two days had been a total failure, with Kazu getting totally trounced by his three partners. But eventually, Kazu had started to notice their patterns, learning how they would strike and how their various attacks would work, he had used this knowledge that he had gained in order to fight back. By day four he was able to beat one of his partners per match, by day six he could take out at least two. Now, at the very end of day seven, Kazu, though exhausted, had finally managed to beat all three of his rookie partners.
"Impressive. Though it did take you three hours to incapacitate them all..."
Kazu gave the Samurai a wry grin and ran his fingers through his hair,
"I told you I could handle myself."
Buraimon simply rolled his eyes at that statement and walked off into the sleeping quarters.
"Do not forget Master, you have still got to face me in combat tomorrow."
Kazu just laughed and wobbled to his feet.
"After this past month of training I figure I can handle whatever you've got to throw at me!"
Buraimon scoffed and turned back to face his Tamer.
"Well then, if you're so confident. How about we raise the stakes? Or are you not up for a greater challenge Master?"
Kazu staggered over to the ropes of the ring and leaned towards his partner, leering.

"C'mon then! After the hellish week I've just been through I'd love to make a wager with you!"
Buraimon laughed and stamped a foot on the ground reaching over and grabbing Kazu by the front of the shirt. Kazu flinched then slammed his head into the samurai's, a competitive smile lighting up his face.
"Ok, bird-brain! If I win the wager tomorrow, not only will you let me go out and do whatever I please, but you've also got to buy all of us a celebratory dinner!"
Buraimon pushed back against the Kazu's mock-headbutt and ground his teeth.
"Well then young master. If I win, I get to return to the wall."
A stunned silence followed Buraimon's condition. Kazu took some weary steps back and stared at his friend.
"But... After all you said at the warehouse..."
Buraimon nodded and turned to walk away once more.
"Think of it as a test for not just you, but me as well. I have done a great deal of good while guarding the walls. I need to know that I can perform an equal if not greater good if I serve alongside you Kazu."
With that Buraimon went to bed. Kazu sank into a sitting position and groaned.
"Just when I think that I'm getting somewhere he goes and pulls a stunt like this..."

And with that, Kazu headed to bed, knowing that he would need all the strength in the world to be able to conquer his partner's challenge

"I will return to this world...

Kazu Matsumoto

... To fight for this new future."

~Mission Continue!~

"Do you really want to leave... Buraimon?"
Kazu stood in the middle of the boxing ring, his shirt off revealing a much more toned and slender body then when he had arrived in the Digital World a month ago. Buraimon stood across the ring, the top of his Samurai garb cast aside revealing a far more muscular form coated in a glorious down of golden feathers. It was more then appropriate for Kazu to say that he was intimidated, but he couldn't let it show, not when losing meant losing his friend.
"It's not whether I 'want' to leave Kazu. It is a matter of honour. I fought for a great deal while I was part of the guardsmen and I was able to actively observe the impact my choices made. I fought with many others who were my equal, or even greater. I need to know that if I follow you then I am fighting with someone who will not hold me back. The old Kazu did not, but I'm not so sure about how you are now... Your 4 years absent from this world clearly weakened you physically, but now I need to test your resolve..."

Kazu's fist clenched and his teeth ground together as Buraimon's words sank in. The bird-man was right. He had awoken from a coma in the real world with next to no memory of the Digital World, and then he had come back expecting everything to be exactly as he had left it.
"You're totally right. I've been such an arse... I'm sorry. But now, let me prove myself to you once more!"
Kazu balled both his hands into fists and threw his arms to his side.
"I'll pass your dumb challenge and prove that it's worth us being partners once again!"
"Yeah Kazu!"
"You tell him!"
"You're the best!"
The voices of Agumon, Veemon and Gabumon cheered from the sidelines, filling Kazu with confidence, he raised his hands up before him in a boxing stance and shut his eyes. He used Buraimon's focus training to feel the environment around him; he could feel Buraimon's breathing, sense the dimensions of the ring, hear the beating of his own heart. Silence reigned for a good half a minute before either moved...

"Begin!"
Kazu's eyes snapped open just in time to see Buraimon's fist inches from his nose. He buckled one knee allowing him to drop just enough to one side so that the fist grazed his cheek. Kazu's eyes flared as he lashed out with his left hand, aiming for the chin of his foe, but Buraimon was too fast, he in turn ducking and dashing forwards, his shoulder slamming hard into Kazu's stomach.
"Hurk!"
Kazu gipped as he was sent flying into the side-ropes, they stretched and then pinged him back to his feet. Buraimon was within striking distance, so Kazu loosed a diagonal kick in his opponent's direction. Buraimon easily dodged the kick and clamped his hand down on Kazu's extended leg. Quick as a whip the samurai had hoisted his Tamer up and into the air! Hurling Kazu up and into the ceiling. Kazu's back slammed into the ceiling with a crash before spiraling back down onto the floor. Kazu spat and a red stain appeared on the mat. He rubbed a hand across his mouth and was met with more faded red across his arm.
"Is that really the best you have?"
Kazu let out a satisfied grunt before getting to his feet and patting himself down. His naked torso showed a few scuff marks and bruises, but nothing significant as of yet.
"Not by a long shot. You're not going back to that wall..."
His fist tightening again, Kazu's muscles tensed and he launched himself across the ring. He was much faster then back on the first day, so much so that Buraimon actually looked surprised, only just managing to grab Kazu's outstretched fist. Kazu grimaced as the claws of his partner secured his hand, but he did not stop, instead swinging his leg up towards Buraimon's torso with a kick. Unfortunantly for Kazu Buraimon had read the move and had already moved to grab the incoming leg, with a flourish Buraimon twisted Kazu's limbs sending the Tamer into a spin out across the boxing ring.

As Kazu came to a spinning halt at the edge of the ring, Veemon ran up to him and shook his shoulder.
"C'mon Kazu! You gotta hit him! At least once!"
Kazu nodded wearily and got back to his feet, he was struggling, even with all the training he had recently gone through Buraimon was just too tough.
"Guess this is the difference between a Rookie and a Champion eh?"
Kazu spat once again and added another spot of blood to the floor of the boxing ring. Buraimon watched the red spot form then looked over to the Tamer... But he was gone!
"What the..."
Buraimon heard the Tamer before he saw him. He clenched his teeth and hopped backwards just as Kazu's knee smashed into the floor where he stood. Kazu yelped in pain as he hit the hard mat, but as he cried out his other foot planted itself in the ground and pushed off, launching Kazu towards his opponent. Buraimon was still on his back foot from dodging Kazu's knee strike, out of options, the Samurai loosed his leg, a powerful kick smashing into the right-hand side of Kazu's body. Like a rag-doll he was launched once again into the ropes which strained and pinged him back onto the floor with a clatter.
"Urrgh... Man Buraimon... You're tough."
A trickle of blood ran from Kazu's hairline and down to his chin. A hint of remorse flashed across Buraimon's face before it quickly passed and his stoic look returned.
"I won't hold back just because you are my Master. You must prove that there is a merit to traveling with you. You must communicate your resolve through your fists!"
Kazu's arms shook as he pushed himself up to his feet once again, his legs trembling as he once more faced up to the Champion level Digimon. He hadn't landed a single hit on Buraimon yet, but the Champion had been throwing him around like he was nothing more then a toy. Kazu was powerless, weak... And he couldn't stand it!

"I won't let you leave! I've just come back to this world. We've just been re-united! No!"
A light began to shine from the center of Kazu's chest, it glinted and cause Buraimon to shield his eyes from it.
"I swore to protect this world! And I can't do that without all of your help!"
The light grew, shining brightly and filling the entire room with a bluish radiance the light built to a blistering level blinding the group. But almost as quickly as it appeared both lights vanished! The light was sucked rapidly back inside of the Digivice holstered at Kazu's hip...
"Was that..."
Buraimon could not contemplate any further, as Kazu, still bleeding and bruised had managed to cross the arena and had thrown one last all-or-nothing punch that was centimeters from his beak. In a flash Buraimon's own fist had erupted out from his side and was flying towards Kazu's face...

"Kazu!"
"Kazu!"
"Kazu!"
The three Rookie Digimon jumped up into the ring in unison as an enormous cracking noise filled the room. The three rookies came to a halt as they witnessed the sight before them, Kazu and Buraimon were stood, arms outstretched and shaking. Both of their fists had made solid contact with the others cheek, they seemed almost frozen and unable to move for a minute or so, with the Rookies staring on, mouths agape. Eventually, Kazu's knees began to shake, and the Tamer crumpled to the floor in a heap, his consciousness all but gone. Buraimon took a step back and placed a hand up to rub his sore cheek.
"He... He did it..."
Gabumon could barely believe what he was seeing. Veemon's eyes were wide but upon realising that Kazu had beaten the challenge, he grabbed Agumon's hands and began to dance in circles with him. Buraimon laughed,
"Well played Kazu... You pass..."

~ The Next Day: The Hostel ~

Kazu sat, covered in bandages and with an icepack up against his jaw. Digimon were swarming all over the hostel ever since Shoutmon and his siblings had come to work, he picked at his lunch with a single chopstick and let out a sigh.
"What is the matter Master?"
Kazu shot Buraimon a dirty look,
"You didn't have to treat me like a rag-doll y'know..."
Veemon suddenly popped up and slapped Kazu on the back, sending a painful shiver through the Tamer's body.
"Yeah! But it wouldn't have been as fun if he didn't!"
"Why you..."
Kazu swiped for his partner but Veemon ducked out the way and scuttled off to play with his friends. Kazu clicked his tongue and went back to picking at his food, Buraimon laid a gentle hand of his Tamer's shoulder and smiled.
"You proved your resolve young Master. You reawakened your burning passion and for a moment I'm fairly sure we saw a hint of your Digi-Soul. I will not leave your side. I will stay and fight with everything I have to give."
Kazu smiled, it was nice to have Buraimon back to his non-training-focused self.
"I told you to quit calling me master ya big dummy. But I get what you mean about the Digi-Soul, but it was weird. I remember before it would fill me with energy and make me feel like I could fight anything myself. Whatever that was in the ring, it was... Warmer. Like, it still felt powerful, but at the same time it was as though it wasn't meant for me. IT was like the power was meant for you Veemon and the others."
Buraimon nodded and got to his feet.
"That's how it should feel young Master. Digi-Soul is a gift from Tamer to Digimon in order to grant Evolution, Digivolving, Shinka."
The bird-man bowed to his master before becoming bathed in a subtle glow.
"Rest now and enjoy your time among friends. Call on me when I am needed..."
With those parting words, Buraimon transformed into a ball of light and was sucked back inside Kazu's D3 Digivice. The Tamer smiled as the small sprite representation of his samurai friend settled on the screen.

If what he said was true, then he was on the road to becoming a true Tamer once again...

After walking for what seemed like days, Ariano finally made it back to the city. It had taken longer than she thought it would, Patamon kept complaining about his hunger "alright, alright we're here now so we can get you some food" she said, rubbing her temples. Patamon sure had a mouth that could talk for days "good, cause all that battling made me hungry!" he stated. She nodded "right lets grab a bite to eat first, I have a few things I need to take care of afterwards" she said, as they headed into a local cafe. Once inside they ate some food, chatted, and paid the bill before moving on throughout the city. It still amazed her at how big this place really was. She whistled softly, "sure is a big place" she stated. Patamon laughed "the digi-world is always a big place" he stated. She nodded "basically what I just said Kai" she said. They continued to walk, until she noticed a hair salon, finally. She walked in and looked around before a digimon came up to her and asked her what she wanted done "I just want to dye my hair back to its natural color, cut a few split-ends as well" she stated. The digimon nodded, and showed her to her station before doing as she asked. Ariano never told anyone, but her natural hair color was actually a white color. She dyed it blue because her hair usually drew unwanted attention to her. However, after going on a mission and meeting Kiro she felt no need to hide her natural color, so she dyed it back. Once her hair was finished, she paid for it and moved along. Patamon was still shocked at the change of her hair color "was your hair always white Ariano?" he asked, his head tiled to the side. She nodded "yeah, I dyed it blue in the beginning, but I just felt like changing it back would be best" she replied.

Once that was done, she then moved onto a clothing store. Battling during this mission made her realize that her current clothes were not fit for battle. Her dress made it hard to run in and her shoes weren't helpful when it came to the terrain either. So she looked around to see what the shops had to offer. She wanted something unique, something that separated her from other tamers. She was sick of being the frail looking tamer, so she went for something a bit more wilder. It was then a navy coat, simple blouse and a few other accessories caught her eye. She snatched then up and tried them on, pleased with the new look. She bought them and put them on, discarding her old clothes "so... are you like going for the pirate look or something?" Kai asked. Ariano looked up at him and smiled softly "why not? Don't I look more adventurous? Besides, I can move around better in this and it offers more protection than my other outfit wouldn't you say?" she asked. Kai looked her over and nodded "true, true, now no one will try and pick on us since you look mysterious and all" he said, smiling. Yes, she was going for a more dangerous, mysterious, and adventurous look. It was more exciting that way anyways.

After fining some new clothes, she moved onto a local shoe store. She walked in, and looked around. There were all kinds of hats in here, it was kind of amazing actually. There were cute hats, space hats, western hats, cool hats, every hat imaginable really. It took longer than she thought to sort out through all the hats, but eventually she found a hat worth it. She tired it on and smiled, this was the one. It completed her pirate look very well, and it was comfortable on her head too. It was navy blue, with a white lining on the edges. Small black feathers and a rose rested on the side of the hat. So she bought it and put it on before exiting the shop. Kai looked up "that's a big hat, but I does go with the outfit" he stated. She nodded, "yeah, it's cool looking though... just need some shoes and we'll be good" she said, as they walked towards the shoe shop. Once inside, she browsed their selection and noticed a tall pair of white laced boots. She smiled, trying them on and walked around. They were perfect, didn't even hurt her feet either. She smiled, "these are the ones" she stated, before going to the cashier and paying for them. She barely had enough money left to buy them, but she was happy she did. She happily walked out, Kai by her side. All the shopping was done now and her new look was complete. She wondered how Kiro would react, he probably wouldn't even recognize her. She smiled, "right, lets get ourselves a mission" she said, as they walked through the city to look for a mission they could do. Eventually, she found out about the tournament and smiled "alright lets go!" she said, as they headed out for the tournament.

"I will return to this world...

Kazu Matsumoto

... To fight for this new future."

~Freeplay~

"I told you; No!"
Kazu turned his back to the Manager Leomon, scowling.
"Gah! You British folk always bail from a fight!"
The Lion-Man slammed a fist down on the table between them, trying to reinforce his point. Kazu twirled back around and smacked his own palm onto the wooden table.
"Oh!? So now it's a British thing eh!?"
Everyone in the common-room of the Hostel awkwardly stared at the argument taking place before them. Veemon and Shoutmon were nervously stood next to Tamer and Lion, Veemon trying to calm down Kazu while Shoutmon tried in vain to chill out the Leomon.
"You've got no backbone! You've been through so many fights already! You could stand a chance!"

Kazu threw his arms in the air in exasperation. He looked down at the flyer on the table: "The Young Lion Tournament" it read. "Come try your skills and face off against the toughest Tamers the DRF have to offer! This 2v2 battle royal is a true test of skill and wile! Come one come all!"
"C'mon..."
Kazu sighed as much as he hated to admit it, the tournament did sound like a lot of fun. But he was still haunted by the memories of the last tournament he had been in, he shut his eyes, flashbacks of the cave collapsing and the face of his old Fri-enemy Marcus losing consciousness as they fought for their lives...
"Kazu..."
His best friend's hand tugged at his sleeve, before he had realised it, Kazu was shaking, beads of sweat rolling down his face. He shook his head and took a deep breath. Shoutmon's look of concern making him feel more embarrassed.
"It's fine... I was thinking of stuff that I shouldn't be."
Leomon shifted uncomfortably in his seat, the manager often forgot that Kazu had seen his fair share of nightmares.
"Jeeze kid... I'm so--"

Kazu had raised a hand to silence Leomon. He smiled and picked up the leaflet.
"Y'know what, you're right you old fart. This tourney does sound like fun. Veemon?"
Everyone in the room seemed to simultaneously sigh in relief now that the fighting was over. Veemon grinned and jumped in the air a huge grin lightening his face.
"You got it! Who's gonna be our second?"
Kazu stroked his chin in thought. He'd picked Veemon due to their secret weapon, but as for his tag partner... It could be anyone, Buraimon was a solid fighter, but he might get out of hand, Agumon and Gabumon were both strong, but who would he pick between the two? And Terriermon, while strong in his Rapidmon form, was still recovering from his ordeal in the temple.
"You're looking at you're tag partner right here!"
Kazu and Veemon turned to look at Shoutmon, who was standing boldly with his hands on his hips.
"I've been working here with Leomon for a long time. And me and my siblings have decided... We want to be you partners!"
Kazu and Veemon exchanged a look before turning back to Shoutmon. Kazu scratched the back of his head, unsure about the idea. He'd worked hard to try and set these guys up in a comfy environment and now they wanted to throw it away to go on stupid and dangerous adventures with him.
"I dunno..."
Shoutmon leaped onto the table and crossed his arms, then he flung out a hand to point at Kazu. The Tamer blinked.
"You know how strong I am! Give me this chance to prove myself! If you don't think I can handle myself here then fine, we won't be your partners. This is a controlled environment where I can show you what I've got! Don't let me go to waste!"
Kazu sighed and sat back in his chair, hands behind his head as he stared at the ceiling.
"Buraimon does say that the kid is good..."
Kazu shut his eyes and grumbled as he stood up.
"If old grumble-lion let's you have a few days off we'll get you in fighting shape."
Shoutmon's eyes lit up as he looked expectantly at the Leomon, the old lion-man folded his arms, mockingly thinking about it.
"I suppose if Gumdramon picks up the slack for a few days you can head on out."
An audible groan could be heard from the kitchen as Gumdramon picked up that he had to do extra work. The group laughed before Shoutmon jumped onto Leomon and gave him a huge hug.
"Thank you so much! I won't let you or the hostel down!"
With that Kazu left the hostel, waving to the regulars and with Veemon and Shoutmon tailing behind him.
"See ya later Leomon! Tell Buraimon that we've got a tourney to prep for!"

Nicholas opened his eyes once again after a while. A second ago he had been standing in his room preparing to send himself to this strange world he had discovered, the next moment he was in a city with both people and strange creatures roaming around. He stared in disbelief at the place. What he saw through the monitor was a dense forest with only these strange creatures. He didn't know that there were humans like him in the place. Nicholas placed his hand under his chin and gave it a thought. What his memory or more like his supposed memory told him was that he had first arrived in the said forest and met the strange creature. Not landed in a city which seemed to be a place where both species got along well. He shook his head feeling a bit annoyed.

Nicholas pulled out his touch phone and said, "What do you think of all this Jade?".
On his screen popped up a girl who began to float around his screen with a smile on her face. She then said, "I don't think it's surprising. If you think about it, it's more than likely you weren't the only one to actually be sent here.". Nicholas would nodded. She has a point. Since I'm not even sure if those memories were mine and there are so few details its probably the case.. As he was about to move onward to observe the area a person approached him all of a sudden. The man told him to follow him somewhere. Nicholas looked at Jade who simply gave him a thumbs up before he sighed and followed obediently.

He would be led to a building wherein the man would tell him to register. Nicholas tilted his head to the side curiously. Register? Does this mean that were getting something similar to a passport back in the real world or is it just so they know who is walking around this place? Better not complain, the guy looks like he could tear me apart in a second.. He sighed and then filled up the registration form. Rather than placing fake information he ended up placing his real information. Why did I do that? This could all be some ploy from a mafia or something like that. Well too late now.. The clerk would then hand him a strange device. Nicholas held it in his hand and look at it all around. "What a strange device.", Nicholas said to himself.
Jade would hear this and shouted, "Let me see, let me see.".. Considering he had his headphones on and it was attached to his ears he heard it as if she was shouting right next to him with a microphone. Nicholas groaned and shook his head before saying, "I'll show it to you later so quiet down please. Dang you know that it hurts when you shout.". He sighed before he followed to man to a new location.

When he arrived at the new location he looked around seeing tamers and strange creatures everywhere. He was then taken into a room and left there by the man. Nicholas would raise his touch-phone so he was looking at the screen and said, "I pray that this isn't going to end up being some cliche death chamber or something.".
Jade just smile. She then said, "I doubt it. Considering how weak you are, they could easily just drag you to a corner and.....".. Nicholas would sigh and then took of his earphones which stopped him from hearing the A.I. rant on. Doing so however led him to hear a short bit away from him. Nicholas would then say, "I can't hear anything outside of the room.....well whatever. Whoever you are standing a few feet behind me just come out. I know you're there.". Nicholas would turn around and look at the direction. A strange creature would walk out of the shadows with a large grin on his face and walk over to Nicholas. Nicholas knew immediately who the creature was. "GranD.....that's your name isn't it?", asked Nicholas. The digimon looked at Nicholas and then said, "Wow you sure look different don't you Nicholas. What happened to your badass red hair? Also you got any yakisoba bread?".. Nicholas would just look at the digimon in disbelief and then asked, "I don't remember ever dying my hair red. I don't remember much about you neither. Only the first time we met which was basically you trying to take all my Yakisoba Bread. On that note here.". He put his bag down and then pulled out a Yakisoba Bread before handing it to GranD. GranD grabbed it and then ate it all in one bit and had a happy smile on his face. He then said, "That was delicious. It's been years since I last ate one of those. Even if you don't remember me, I still remember you and all of your old pals still remember you though most of them are probably someplace else. They may even have new forms as far as I'm concerned. Doesn't matter though since we'll surely meet them eventually."..

The man would return immediately after GranD said that and the two of them would follow the man to a tavern. On arrival the man would leave probably to find the next new people who would come. Nicholas would look around the tavern and said, "GranD, don't tell me anything. I want to remember everything myself otherwise it's much better that I just start anew. This new adventure.....it surely will be an interesting one.". GranD just looked at Nicholas before he let out a smile and nodded. After a few seconds however Nicholas felt a bit qeasy and then placed his earphones back on his ears and then disconnected it from his touch-phone and attached it to an MP3 player. His touch-phone had songs, that was for sure but he kept most of them in the MP3 player as it was made for music while the touch-phone songs was just for when he was talking to Jade. He started playing music while GranD just looked at him in confusion. Nicholas said, "Don't worry too much about it. I just have a small problem with my ears where if I don't muffle out the noise from the outside, I hear too much. And on another note another Yakisoba Bread for you.". He would pull out another Yakisoba Bread and gave it to GranD who began to eat it happily once more. Nicholas made a mental note that Yakisoba Bread was the easiest way to make GranD forget about the current topic.

"...He was formidable but i must find him, he may hold the key to my memories..."

Asura Renji

"I couldn't do it alone, but together we can achieve anything!"

It was enough that his past was already fragmented, but now Asura was suffering from a brief amnesia after being forced into a portal residing in the cash register he used everyday for work. He held his head in discomfort as it occasionally throbbed, it felt like his brain was knocking against his skull to reach the outside world. The surroundings started to come into focus as he gazed about after he found him self sitting in a chair, the realization that he was no longer in his world hit him once more. Asura noticed several people walking around with weird creatures at their sides, different shapes, sizes, and colors presented a large variety of them. A group of them passed by his position as they held a very simple yet enthusiastic conversation with one another, they could speak and very well at that.
"What the hell is going on.."
He had no idea where he was or how he got there, it wasn't a fearful feeling he harbored but one of curiosity. Leaning back into his chair and resting his head upon the comfortable cushion it provided, he gazed up at the ceiling and directly into the light fixtures. With a very light sigh escaping his lips he couldn't help but attempt to recollect his thoughts and assessed the situation at hand. Asura realized that what ever these creatures are then that beast must be the same.
"Of course, he must have took me to his world...but how?"
His though processing was interrupted by a light small voice, his eyes lowered from the lights above to slowly lock focus upon the source of the voice.
??????:"Ah, you finally snapped out of it your daze. Great because your registration is complete, Asura!"
Upon first sight of the little creature he jolted back into his chair. "Ack!!" He shouted before he analyzed the little character, he was blue with large red eyes the gazed up at him confused. He also noticed his large fist with a complete set of fingers and thumbs, his tail barely swayed behind him displaying that it was used more for strength or not at all.
"What...Who are you?"
Asura began to speak with a calmer voice and leaned forward to look the creature in the eyes, his expression went from surprised to serious. "Your not going to eat me are you, little man?" He asked the little character before him, and the creature folded his arms over his slim chest with a slight attitude before responding. Veemon:"Relax, if i wanted eat you i would have done it earlier. Besides you don't look that tasty anyway. Remember i found you unconscious in the back alley, my name is Veemon! I'm your partner."Asura slightly narrowed his eyes and crosses his own arms over his chest before speaking "I am tasty!!" Everyone in the area who heard him say that began to laugh and whisper about how weird he is. Veemon only laughed and pointed over to the main desk to guide Asura to get information that he needed, After doing so he walked over toward it. Asura stood up and scratched his head as he soon followed after Veemon, it was apparent that the two had similar qualities and it was alright that way. "So..Veemon, what is this place? I mean overall...this world? I seem to have been brought here...." Be fore he could finish his sentence he recollects the Image of that Digimon that he face in his world. "HEY! Did you happen to see a tall monster with turbines on his wrist and shins?" Veemon shook his head as they approached the counter, not tall enough to see over it he simply turned to look at Asura before standing upon his tip toes. Veemon:"Sorry man, i only saw you there...if there was anyone one else they must of been long gone...don't worry too much about it, try to focus on registering." The woman receptionist smiled and pointed to the dotted line on the paper she slid toward up, she must of requred Asura's signature and Veemon seemed to of handled everything else. Asura nodded his head and signed the document and after doing such the woman handed him a small box, accepting the box and turning toward the exit Veemon followed. Veemon:"To answer your question, i am a Digimon and this is the Digital world. What you just signed were documents agreeing with the human terms of the DRI, in short you were chosen to become a Digimon tamer. Though, you dont smell like fresh human...its like you been here before..."Asura jolts up at the Digimon's words and shakes his head and fist at him, he didnt want any issues with his shattered memories. "Apparently i was thrown in the garbage! ofcourse i dont smell fresh! Any ways, i have to train...in with the information in this box she gave me...we can both get stronger.." Veemon looked confused at Asura as he didnt really understand what he was talking about, though the exited the DRI building and steped out into New Network city. With a smile Asure extended his arm to point into the sky, yelling loudly at Veemon though everyone could hear him.
"I feel like a challenge has presented itself to us! MWAHAHAHA! Come Veemon! let us grow together and find this beast digimon, and put a end to his games!!"It was then that Asura did a very corny pose and all who passed by assumed he was all sorts of things, crazy being one of them.

"But how did he know my name?"

Kiro was in the middle of nowhere. All he could see was pure black. "Where am I? What happened?" Suddenly a mysterious creature appeared. It was huge, probably the biggest thing Kiro as ever scene. "Wha-What are you? What do you want with me?" The tamer asked in fear. He didn't know where he was or what was even happening to him. A green chain appeared from the side of the creature and wrapped around the tamer. Kiro struggled to get out but it was hopeless to get out. "K_I_R_O ... M_I_S_H_I_M_A..." The creature began to speak in a rather robotic like voice. "There is no need to fear me. My name is Yggdrasil, the moderator of the Digital World. I'm here to just talk to you if you do not mind" Yggdrasil said with a rather familiar voice. "Kiro stopped struggling and cocked his head in confusion. He then realized that he wasn't even in pain. "Your voice...why does it sound so familiar? But anyways, if you're really Yggdrasil. Then why the hell is the God of the Digital World talking to me?" Kiro said passive aggressively, while he wanted answers he still tried to respect the God Digimon. Yggdrasil made a robotic-like "I sound familiar because I have been on your adventure since the beginning Kiro. But you nor your Digimon have ever noticed." Kiro was now in a shocked state since he just realized who he was talking to now. "Dy...DynamoPlug is that you?" The sudden realization seemed to be to much for Kiro to even comprehend. "Yes I am your Kamemon but even now DynamoPlug has no clue that he is me. Since the opening of the DRF I have decided to put my data into one of the Tamer's Digimon so I can witness first hand how these new tamers will take care of my Digital World. I have chosen your Kamemon as a host. You are a great Tamer Kiro you seem to completely understand your Digimon but you are still wet behind the years. In a few days you will meet up with a new Digimon who will challenge your skill as a tamer. I want you to try and befriend this Digimon for she will be the key to unlock DynamoPlug's true potential. A form much stronger then Shawujinmon." The chain let go of Kiro dropping him. But there no where to land. Just pure darkness. Kiro couldn't make a sound but he put his hand out as a sign to help him. "We shall meet again Kiro!" Yggdrasil said as his voice faded into the distance.

"WAAAAAH!" Kiro said in fright. After taking deep breaths he realized that there was a blanket on his body. He was in a bed. He got up and examined the room. He was only dreaming. "Man what a strange dream no way that was real." He said in denial. The dream felt to real and its not stuck in his head. All Kiro can see now is the face of Yggdrasil. He shook his head and got out of the bead. All he was wearing was a black wife beater and a pair of black basketball shorts. "Where the hell is my suit?" He said as he decided to examine the room he was in. There was a table next to him which has his Digivice and Wallet. He also noticed that Loke was sleeping on top of a television but is also back in his rookie form. Kiro picked up his Digicive pressed some buttons and returned him back to into it. "Thanks friend you deserve a good rest." The tamer said quietly to respect Loke that he is sleeping. He placed his Digivice back on the table and looked around for some clothes. All the drawers were empty. After a through search, Kiro couldn't find anything. But he did make a deduction that he was in a hotel and DynamoPlug is missing. Suddenly the door started to shake. Kiro turned to see who would enter but since he was in an indecent state, he backed off. The knob started to twist and entered DynamoPlug holding a a lot of bags. Kiro sighed and sat down on the bed. DynamoPlug waddled over and tossed the bags on the bed. He then sat down next to Kiro. "You alright Kiro? You passed out at Freezeland so Loke and I borrowed some money from your wallet and got you a hotel room to rest. While he stayed to comfort you, I went out to get some replacement threads since your old ones got trashed." Kiro looked at the floor and smiled. He put his hand on his Digimon's helmet and started to pet him. "Thanks I'm going to assume you got the same style as before?" Kiro said. DynamoPlug nodded. "I even got some cool cologne as well!" Kiro took the bags and went into the bathroom. After thirty minutes, Kiro walked out in his new suit. He also smelled amazing. DynamoPlug whistled. "Whoa man! You look fresh! Oh by the way you got a message on your Digicive. Its about us getting invited to a tournament for Bronze Tamers no big deal." DynamoPlug said nonchalantly. Kiro put his wallet in his pocket and picked up his Digivice to read the message fully. "Neat...sounds like fun lets go." Kiro said calmly. But then noticed one more bag on the bed. He opened it up and smiled as he pulled out his new aviators.

Twenty minutes later Kiro and DynamoPlug inside at the DRF building. Kiro, wearing his new shades, cracked his knuckles as he entered the portal to the DigiColiseum. DynamoPlug walked right behind him and chuckled. "This gon be good!" DynamoPlug said as the two were now transported to the DigiColeseum

Kiro Leaves New Network City to go to DigiColiseum.

mission

Quest name: Young Lions Tournament
Quest Level: C

Haru had finally accomplished the mission at Freezeland and was ready to enlist in another mission. Fanbeemon was still a bit exhausted, but was more or less ready to go onto a new mission. Haru had no idea what happened to Kutay or Kiro since she was separated from them after Freezeland. Haru wanted to stalk someone but nobody she deemed worthy was within a hundred mile radius. She wanted to take a nap and forget about losing those two, but she was bound to run into them eventually. After all they were fated to be together. Fanbeemon couldn't help but feel sorry for those two, and any other future victims. Apparently the mission they accepted this time was a tourney to see who held strength in this world. Strength was essential in this world and Haru wanted to prove that she help strength within this world. From the last mission Haru was able to see that Fanbeemon was capable of more than just shoving bees up someone. He was able to turn into Waspmon and Gear Sting people. Such a fun toy for such a devilish little girl. Apparently they needed to warp from the city to the arena and prepare for the battle. Haru wondered who would be there and who would she compete against. Maybe she could find a new onii-chan to add to the Haru nation. The Haru nation was growing every day, nobody could stop her world domination.

The Book Worm

User ImageLocation: New Network City

Maria had been hanging out with her partner more often than not. They hadn't done all that much since helping Tanemon find her friend. However that didn't mean that they weren't getting to know each other a little better. Maria would like to think she understood Digimon more. Then again she could just be imagining that she did.

Regardless it was one of those days were Maria and Pabumon were walking through town wondering what they should do. "Maybe we could go see about taking on a mission?" Pabumon suggested. "We can't do that Pabumon." Maria replied. "Oh... why not?" he asked her. "Because anything outside the city could be dangerous and I don't want you getting hurt."

Maria had made it clear when they'd first meet that she wanted to keep him from harm. Pabumon appreciated it but really wanted to go on an adventure. That's when Maria's digivice went off. "Uh?!" she looked down at her pocket before digging it out. "What's it doing?" Pabumon asked curiously from her shoulder. "I think... I have a message..." she said in shock.

Looking at the message Maria read it out loud to Pabumon. "Can we go?" Pabumon asked instantly. "I guess we might as well. We have nowhere else to be." she answered. Quickly reading the information on where to go Maria headed off with Pabumon the coliseum. This would certainly be interesting to see.
