They rushed Arc back inside, blood pumping like a water fountain out of the already fragile girl. This was not good. Not good at all. Tobias stood by Cat as she did her thing. Outside the door, the children cried for their mother. On the inside, tobias was crying as well. But his tears had long since dried as a child in the laboratories. The most Tobias could was hold Arc down for Cat. She then asked the Father to run to the hospital and get blood for a transfusion. He could've done it faster, but Tobias was needed there.
Soon after, Cat looked up Tobias, her eyes sad and serious. He knew how serious this was. The kids were still on the other side of the door. Cat asked that Tobias get them away. He didn't want to leave Arc's side. Really he didn't. But the kids were important too. So he nodded to Cat and said, "I'm trusting you with her. She dies and me and those kids will hate you forever. And that'll be the least of your worries, you hear me?" Tobias really didn't mean it. Violence was just the main way he got his feelings out.
He then left the room and stood in front of the kids, towering over the three of them. Tobias was silent for a while, finally taking Noah from Doll. It'd been a while since he held the boy. He was shaking. "Come on. Let's go in the other room. Cat needs time to work. Don't worry," he told them. Even he was unsure. But he couldn't let them know that. Tobias lead the way to the other room, Noah in his arms.

The young boy hugged Tobias’ neck tightly. He was terrified. After seeing the blood on the ground, and hearing the urgency in everyones voice, he knew something was wrong. “But what about Mama!? Why didn’t she come out too?”
Doll walked with Noah and Tobias, “Mama is resting right now. She’s tired,” Doll said, trying to pull herself together. She was shacking, and she couldn’t stop. She was usually eerily level headed. But she never thought anything would happen to Arc. And if it did, it wouldn’t be serious. “Mama wouldn’t leave us like this…she will be alright. She always is…she’s always alright…right?” she said, looking up at Tobias for the first time. The little girl didn’t look like the emotionless Doll that usually walked around. She had tear stains down her cheeks, her small mouth was trembling with unsure feelings. She almost looked human.
The Priest rushed back into the church, wheeling in a strange device, along with bags of blood. He ran into the room where Arc and Cat were, closing and locking the door behind him.
Cat quickly grabbed what she needed and got to work putting in the first I.V full. “Come on….” she said, watching as the blood started to flow into Arc’s veins. The color in her cheeks weren’t coming back. Cat checked her pulse…her pulse…where was her pulse!? Cat grabbed hold on Arc’s arm, feeling for a pulse there. “N-No pulse…” her eyes became wide. There was no pulse. She was in a state of shock. There was no pulse.
It was to late….Cat couldn’t believe it. “N-No…” she felt sick to her stomach. She tried again at her neck. Nothing….she tried on both wrists this time. Nothing…not even a faint one. Cat ran over to the other side of the bed, putting her hand just above Arc’s mouth. She wasn’t breathing.
This just couldn’t be. “She’s dead…” Cat looked soullessly up at the Priest, who looked just as empty as her. They had been to late..
Cat walked to the door and stared at it, finally unlocking it. She walked out, leaving the Priest in the room with Arc’s body. She slowly made her way into the room where the others sat waiting. She stared at them silently. What could she say?

Tobias sat silently in the room with the kids as Cat did her best to save Arc. From the other room, Tobias could still feel the strange electrical pulse that everyone seemed to have. He hadn't realized that he could sense these things. The lab had his powers under so many constrictions, it was almost impossible to use them. Father came rushing back in, the blood transfusion epuipment with him. This would definitely work. Tobias had a blood transfusion once. He was very sick once as a child and recieved blood from someone.
Tobias spoke, or in this case thought, too soon. Like a light, one pulse stopped. It was the weakest, yet still detectable. But now there was nothing. Just two. This wasn't good. An eerie silence consumed the entire building. "Something's not right," Tobias thought Not long after the thought crossed his mind, Cat emerged from the room. She stood before them, dead silence. A certain kind of silence only fit for death. But no one had died....right? Tobias was beginning to lie to himself. The boy had figured out what had happened. There was no easy way for Cat to say it.

Cat just stared for a long while. She just couldn’t tell them. How is someone supposed to tell a bunch of kids that their mother just died? How do you tell a family that she’s never coming back? She couldn’t look at them anymore. She clenched her fists tightly, turning away from them all. She had failed them all when they needed her most. She stood there in the hallway, not daring to look at them when she finally got the courage to say it. “We were to late….I’m sorry…” she said in a whisper. She could barely muster that much.
The priest walked over to Arc’s body, sighing. It was never easy when a loved one died. As a Priest he saw this often; but that doesn’t mean it made this any easier. He took the IV out of her arm and took off the oxygen mask. He stared at her face for a moment, before closing her eyes for her. Her body was oddly warm and comforting. As if she wanted to comfort them all, even after her death. The Priest began to read her prayers of passing.
Noah just stared at Cat’s back as she said it. “L-Late? Late for what?” he said, not wanting to believe what was right in front of him.
Doll’s hearted ached at the little boys words, “Noah-” “We aren’t late for anything!!” shouted Noah, freeing himself from Tobias’ grip and ran into the room where his mother was.
“Noah! Don’t!” Doll shouted, chasing after him. Tears began to wail up in her eyes again. This just wasn’t fair.
Noah burst into the room, running over to his mothers body. “Mama! Wake up or you’ll be ate!” he shouted, grabbing hold of his mothers arm and shacking her. There was no response from her, but he kept shacking her. “Mama wake up! Come on we gotta go!” he said through sniffles. The poor boy just wouldn’t let it be.
“N-Noah…” Doll tried to comfort him, but she couldn’t hold herself together either. She wanted to be realistic here, but she to just wished she was sleeping. “M-Mama…” she rubbed her eyes, running over to her body as well. “Mamaaaaaa!! You can’t leave us! Who will take care of us!?” she cried, holding Arc’s hand in her own, stroking it tenderly.
Noah shuck on, screaming wake up as if he could just simply wake her from a deep sleep. It really did look as if she was just sleeping. Her face was so peaceful that you might mistake her for napping. “Come on get up! We need to go so get up!” said the boy, tears streaming down his face.

Cat finally said it. Arc was dead. Well, she didn't say "dead". She just said that they were too late. That wording highly confused Noah. He took it as his mother not being on time for something. Obviously, he denied it with all his heart. Noah burst into the room where the dead body lay and shook her as if she was only sleeping. Tobias followed the others into the room as they followed the child, crying as well. Even Doll. Unmovable, emotionless Doll.
Tobias was most certainly not crying. He just couldn't. But that didn't mean he wasn't sad. Tobias loved Arc. Truly he did. And now she was gone. Now Tobias had to figure out how to take care of three kids without getting captured by the military scientists. Silently, Tobias stood in the doorway. His expression reflected that of the "old" him. The angry, irritable monster that only Arc could love. He left the room without saying anything, gathering what little they had.
Tobias warned Cat that if Arc died, they'd hate her. That wasn't true. He found himself unable to. She did her best and it just wasn't enough. The only person that Tobias could say that he hated was one man. Arc's father. This was all his fault! If he hadn't hurt her the way he did, she'd be fine. Just the thought of him made Tobias even angrier, electricity covering his body.
((wow kiki! either ur just cold-hearted, or u gotz a plan!))

(( A little of both actually :3 ))
This was to much even for the Priest to take. This boy was to intent on waking his mother…he didn’t want to have to pull him away from her. But he did. He placed his hand on the boys shoulder with a sigh, “Come on my boy…” is all he could say.
Noah pulled away from the man, “No! I’m waiting here until Mama wakes up!” he said, sniffling. He tightened his grip on his mothers arm. But as he squeezed, he felt a crack. He pulled away in shock. As he stared something strange began to happen to his mothers body.
Just then, she burst into flame. “Mama!!!” Doll shouted, but took a step back in surprise. The fire was intense, as well as surprising. What was happening?
Cat grabbed the two children away from the burning body and to safety. They all stared in awe as the flames roared, then quickly died down, leaving nothing but ash. “W-Wha-” Cat just stared. Wait? What was going on now? She slowly walked up to the pile of ash. It was…moving!? The pile of ash was not only moving, but expanding of its own will. It almost looked like it was breathing in and out. Cat looked back at Tobias questioningly, then back at the pile.
The pile grew taller and taller of its own whim. Then, to everyone in the room, something none of them could ever forget…a pair of pure wings slowly began to lift up and out of the ash pile. Then, slowly, but surely, what looked like the shoulders of a women began to peek out of the pile as well. Then slim shoulders came after that. A neck, fallowed by a head of pure white hair, fallowed by a face they all new.
Cat’s eyes widened. There was just no way this could be happening. But it was true, her eyes didn’t lie. Arc emerged from the pile of ash. “A-Arc?” Cat took a step forward, holding out her hand, but pulling away.
Arc’s head turned in the direction of Cat, her face emotionless. The rest of her finally emerged from the ash, fresh and new. She sat there on the bed, covering her now indecent body with her wings. She didn’t seem to know what was going on, like the rest of them.
But a small voice broke the silent’s in the room, “Mamaaa!” Noah shouted, running to his mother and jumping on her, hugging her tightly.
Arc looked down at Noah, and for the first time, saw him. Still looking confused, Arc reached up and touched her face. She held out a hand, actually seeing it with her eyes. She looked down at her son, finally wrapping her arms and wings around him. “Hello…” she said quietly. She looked up at everyone, her eyes locked onto Tobias, “I see you…” she said.
The Priest stood back in amazement, “A phoenix…born of fire, they die of fire…and are reborn from the ashes,” he said in astonishment. He had just witnessed a miracle on Earth.

(( Thank you!~ I’ve been planning this since the beginning. Thank you Kitsu-chan for giving me a reason! Yaay! Finally, I’ve been sitting on this forever))
Doll couldn’t believe it herself. Arc had returned, better then before. So her code name wasn’t just a code name….
Arc felt her whole body become embraced, and she knew who it was. Arc felt her eyes water as she tried to hold back all her emotions. “T-Tobias? What just happened to me?” she asked in a small voice, her own arms wrapping warmly around him.
Noah moved out of the way for Tobias, not wanting to be smashed by their embrace. “You were late Mama,” He said, rubbing away tears. He was just happen to see her moving again. He didn’t know, or care about what had just happened, as long as he was back.
Cat spoke dryly, “You just died…then you came back to life?” she said it like it was a question. She was just as confused as the rest of them.
But the Priest spoke up, “She’s a phoenix. An animal who never dies….but they don’t come in humans so….I don’t know what to think…”
Doll helped him on that one, “We’re half animal. All of us are chimeras. She must be part phoenix…who they got that kind of DNA is beyond me…” now that the upsetting moment was over, Doll was back to her usual, curious, data collecting self. But she was smiling with happiness.
Arc was the most confused out them all. She remembered falling over, but nothing else until this point. She kept on hugging Tobias tightly though. For some reason she felt an overwhelming feeling of happiness to be holding him at that moment. “I…died?” is all she could say. Arc berried her face inside of Tobias’ neck, closing her eyes; she felt like she had left him for a very long time. “I missed you….” she said, “I missed you and I don’t know why…”

Those words. Oh those word! Never before had Arc heard those words. Hearing them come from him was all the better. She felt a warm feeling rest itself inside her, refusing to leave. But she didn’t care. Arc wrapped her wings around the two of them, creating her little world for just the two of them. She moved away from his neck, looking at him for the first time in many years. He’d become handsome in the years she was blind. She smiled up at him, a smile she’d never given before. She touched him on the cheek before leaning in and kissing him.
‘Same.’olor]
tle curious when his mother wrapped her wings around the two of them like a ball. He peeked in through her feathers, but quickly moved away. He giggled and jumped off the bed, running to Doll and whispering in her ear, “They’re kissing.”
out damn time,” Doll sighed. She crossed her arms with a smile. “Took them long enough,” she said, winking at Sora. “I think they’re get the message when his agents come screaming back with their tails between their legs like the dogs they are,” she said with a pleased smile.
Cat was confused, “What’s about time? Who know?” she asked Doll, only to get a roll of the eye from the whole group, even the Priest. “What?”
