Popo stopped its pantomime performance, having been ratted out by its audience, and slowly turned its now human-like face to look at its trainer. The shock on Egan's face caused the mimic pokemon to snicker, using Egan's copied face to grin stupidly back at him. Popo watched as Egan's face changed from one of shock to one of rage as the man leaned forward, coming within inches of Popo's own face. "Ehhh?" Egan hissed, his face twisting with anger as he looked down his nose at the pokemon he had previously thought was a Popplio. "You must think you're real funny, huh?" Egan reached out and grabbed the pokemon by the scruff of its neck and held it up off the ground, dangling Popo in front of his face.
The gangster screwed his face up in the same way he used to when he and his comrades were shaking down helpless fools, the face had served him well when he had needed to intimidate marks. "Uwa, Uwa!" Popo roared back at him as he mimicked the rather ugly face that Egan was displaying. Upon viewing Popo's display Egan wondered if he was indeed that ugly or if the DItto had just been exaggerating his appearance; he decided that it must be the latter. The gangster shook Popo violently, attempting to get the pokemon to give up the transformation. "UWA!" The ditto cried in protest before its body reverted back to its purple gelatinous base form. Egan eyed the purple blob that he was holding, still angry at being not only mocked but also being tricked into believing he had picked a pokemon that he actually wanted. "I outta march you back to Kuk-" Egan stopped as the Popo's derpy face turned sad. It must have known that it was about to be returned. The gangster sighed and placed the struggling pokemon back on the ground before fishing his pokeball back out of his pocket. "You can stay." He muttered, "It might not be so bad having a copy of whatever pokemon I want in my roster." He still wished he had the Popplio, but the ditto was cute as well. Besides, he had only seen one or two in Kanto, so the pokemon was certainly rare.
As Popo returned to the ball it smirked; it had successfully escaped the lab.
Egan looked back up at Elena; the girl was still recovering from her hysterical fit of laughter. "Look. Not a word, we clear?" He threatened, pointing at the girl. He was going to say more, but the growling in his stomach gave him pause. Egan looked at his watch and then back at his new traveling companion. "It's about noon. Wanna grab something to eat in the next town over?" The more distance he could put between himself and the dump of a lab behind him, the better.

Despite Egan's very clear irritation and anger towards the ditto, Elena couldn't help the light laughter that continued to escape through her lips. Popo was spot on with its imitations of Egan. She made an effort to stifle her giggles as she watched the man in front of her scoop up the pokémon and shake it a few times in an attempt to force it to cease the unflattering mockery. If Elena had felt like Popo was in serious threat of being harmed by its new trainer then she would have stepped in, but the ditto hadn't seemed too bothered by Egan's shaking aside from its mild vocal complaints. Dittos were rather malleable creatures, and Elena didn't figure that a bit of wiggling it would actually hurt it. Her final bits of laughter finally ceased as Popo turned back into its blobby purple form.
Egan started to threaten to take the ditto back to Kukui, but stopped midway, prompting a slightly curious expression from Elena as she continued to watch their interaction unfold. With a sigh, Egan set the ditto down and made the decision to allow it to stay. Her brow raised. Elena felt a smirk growing across her face at the realization that Egan had probably actually felt bad at the idea of taking to ditto back to the lab it had worked so hard to escape from. The older trainer really was all bark and little to no bite. Elena knew that it would be the traditionally logical idea to return the non-starter, but even she had to admit that she was happy to see Egan make the choice to keep it. She wasn't sure what plans the professor had for Popo, but if the ditto wanted to travel and be out of the lab that badly then it deserved to.
"Look. Not a word, we clear?"
Elena smiled cheekily and made a motion with her hand to suggest that her lips were sealed before pretending to lock them and throw away the imaginary key. She wouldn't say a thing.
Upon the mention of food, however, she heard her own stomach gurgle emptily, as if responding to his. She supposed that she had been so excited about getting her new starter and whatnot that she'd completely overlooked how close to lunch time it was, or how hungry she felt. "Yeah, actually. Food sounds good," she agreed. Elena's expression switched to contemplation as she tried to think of what food places she'd seen available in the city last night. "I saw this pretty neat looking café if that sounds good to you?" she suggested. After gaining Egan's okay to the idea, she waved him to follow and started leading the way to Hau'oli City, which wasn't actually that far away.

Lana chuckled lightly as her cousin thanked her again. "We're family Luna. Ain't gonna turn a blind eye to family." Lana insisted. "Sides, only reason ya found yerself in trouble was cause ya picked a fight with a pokemon that was outta yer league. Way I see it, if y'all went and trained some in Hau'oli b'fore ya went around and did somethin' dangerous like attemptin' Ten Carot Hill o'er yonder, then ya'd be just fine." The older woman tossed her cousin a smile over the back of her shoulder.
"Almost there. Ya doin' alright there Abby?" Lana asked the mudsdale. She'd insisted Abigail would be able to take the weight, but carrying around two people was sure to be tiring. Nonetheless, the mudsdale snorted and shook her head, her way of insisting she was fine. "Well alright then. We're about halfway to the city Luna. Won't be long now."

A few more paces towards the city and Luna seemed to have nodded off to the slow rocking motion of Abigail's stride, but that suited Lana just fine. Her cousin had an eventful day after all, so Lana wanted to encourage her sleep. Luna's arms seemed hooked securely enough around her waist, so it was likely the girl wouldn't fall off as they finished their way into town.
Lana was sure her cousin's pichu would be fine. It had taken quite a hit from a strong spinda, but it was nothing too critical. Luna was probably lucky they hadn't run into a zubat and gotten her pokemon poisoned, or found a rockruff with fire fang to burn them. Telling Luna this now would likely just freak her out more, and the last thing Lana wanted was to discourage her cousin from going on this journey.
Eventually, Hou'oli City appeared just on the horizon, and Lana sighed in relief, looking back towards Luna. "Shall we wake her?" Rotom asked, but Lana shook her head. "Probably best t' jus' wait 'till we reach the center." Lana explained. "Let her rest a lil while longer." Of course the cowgirl had other reasons why she'd rather let Luna rest, but that was beside the point.

Ghost trainer. Yeah, she could see that. Kind of made sense if he had a Dusknoir on hand. From what she could see, it was his only secondary Pokemon."A friend, huh?...Well, I guess that solves the stress part. Don't really need to worry about a friend making off with your Pokemon."Unless they were a backstabbing little Sneasel like certain people were. Skye hoped she never caught a Pokemon that needed to be traded in order to evolve; she wasn't sure how she'd ever handle it."Ha! True enough. Think the only time it's safe to ride a Pidgey or a Spearow is when you're tiny enough to pull it off. At least they evolve into massive birds."She wished she could remember her first time on a Flying-type, but she was supposedly way too small to even try. Apparently she had a blast, though. Probably why she loved the type so much now.
Skye's attention was snagged by a cat-like creature that Simon let out to show off. Like Mareve, she had never seen or heard of a Pokemon like that. Magikit? She thought it was adorable and especially loved the hat....Or, hat-like growth. Honestly, it was hard to tell with Pokemon sometimes if something was attached to their bodies or just an accessory. She learned not to put to much thought into it."Magikit, huh? She's gorgeous."Froakie. That was one of Kalos's starters. Skye felt kind of bad for Simon that there wasn't a Ghost-type starter that they knew of. Kind of made her appreciate Natalina all the more; Skye got lucky with being able to have her. Wait. Actually, Rowlet eventually evolved into a semi Ghost-type, didn't it? Huh. Well, he was a much more experienced trainer than her, so Rowlet probably wasn't available or even known when he started his journey. Poor guy."...So, you're looking for Pokemon that can get you passed the Elite Four. Well, if you're a Ghost trainer, you shouldn't have any trouble dealing with Shauntel. I'm sure you know the weaknesses of Ghost Pokemon inside and out. Way better than I'd ever know, though I'll have to start learning since I'll eventually have a Decidueye. All I really know about Ghost-types is that they're effective against their own kind and they're immune to Normal and Fighting moves."
“In a way yes but we're not talking best friend who I can call at a moment's notice. I wanted Dusknoir to evolve and they wanted their Pokemon to evolve as well. It's been so long that I don't remember which exactly it was but there are too many that require it. It is a bit strange though, you develop this great friendship with a Pokemon to then be forced to give it away even for a moment, just to evolve it. One would think there would be a better way to evolve those types, but,” he finished with a shrug of what can you do about it. He smiled at her reaction to Magikit who touched the brim of the hat growth as a type of tip of the hat thanks. “Magii,” the cat Pokemon purred out. “She evolves too, but I don't know what to so I'm training her up along with my Rowlet.”
Nodding at her suggestions he smiled, “Indeed however it wouldn't be advisable to take on an Elite Four and a Champion with a single type team. I've researched the team I plan on using for it though I just needed to train them up. I've needed a way to renergize thus I'm here to this new region to try it out as well. Dusknoir is on the team but I need two more members to complete it. I was considering a Breloom and something else but I'm unsure.” By now Magikit had started to fly over to his Dusknoir and the pair seemed to have a silent conversation with each other. Something caught Dusknoir's eye and he motioned to Magikit that there was a wild Pokemon peaking out from the tall grass. Simon looked sideways at it and noticed a ferret like Pokemon. Probably this region's Bunnelby or Rattata, not knowing that there was already and Alolan Rattata here. He was going to start training Rowlet however Magikit was already out so he nodded at the cat which purred in delight. Returning Dusknoir for now he spoke to Skye, “Excuse me for just a moment. Magikit you ready?”

Another win in the bag, Naomi bid both Jackie and Micah farewell, leaving them to catch up, and continued on his way through Route 3, sans interruption. Tomoe, for all the beatings she'd taken, was still in great spirits, but in the interest of saving time didn't stray too far away from Naomi as they walked. A mobile, but (hopefully) stable, bridge-crossing later and they were back on Route 1, with Rotom leading the way as the official tour guide. "We are almost there, are we not?" Naomi questioned, his excitement palpable. "Yeah. So you should probably cool it with the pokemon battles," Rotom suggested, eyeing Tomoe as she went about bobbing and weaving the attacks of a wild Magnemite -- the second pokemon she'd come across since they'd arrived -- before he turned to look at Naomi himself. "You know, so your team will be in the best condition for your Kahuna battle."

Naomi contemplated Rotom's words, and while there was certainly wisdom in them he wanted to give Tomoe the chance to battle a few more pokemon before reeling her in. She was proving quite the scrappy fighter, not to be underestimated due to her size, and he found that he rather enjoyed watching her fight. It was funny, actually, watching her make quick work of those she came across (though that may have been because of how low-leveled the pokemon in the area was), and, she was taking advantage of the new move she'd learned; using draining kiss to replenish her health when she could, and when it wasn't enough she zipped back to Naomi for a quick heal.

But, even a good system needed to be retired, temporarily at least, for the good of the group. He could see Iki Town now, the outline of a few houses announcing the upcoming community. Naomi motioned for his team to regroup, as a few had begun to wander off in own attempts to explore, before he crouched down to huddle in with them. "This is it, this shall be our final challenge on Melemele Island," he proudly proclaimed. There were several cheers of excitement, from all but Rotom, as his pokemon shared his sentiment in coming close to the end of just one part of their adventure. "We should celebrate after this! We shall get malasadas for everyone!" Another round of cheers, this one much louder and shared by everyone, though Rotom's was less excited than the rest; at least he was intrigued.
"But, before that, we must defeat Iki Town's Kahuna. So let us go and do that!" Naomi thrust his hand into the air, rallying his troops with a might cheer war cry, before he straightened up and led the charge into Iki Town. He really was excited, as he was about most things, about the upcoming battle and the events that would come afterwards.

Back on Route 1, Naomi hummed as he strode down the well-walked path to Hau'oli City, his pokemon at his side. His best bet was to buy a ticket for the next boat out to Akala island, then buy their malasadas, and once they arrived to the next city they'd find a place to stay for the night. The sky was starting to darken, signaling the day was coming to an end, so by that time it'd be late evening. In the morning, they'd start on some training and find out what the next trial was. It was a good plan, a simple plan, and one Naomi could easily get behind.

Empress Jingū, in her usual jovial spirit, bounced along as the group continued down the path. This was all so excited, exploring new places and watching her new friends battle all sorts of pokemon, she was certainly glad she'd decided to join Naomi! Still, as much as fun as she had being on the sidelines, she still hoped that, one day and one day soon, she'd be able to participate in her very own battle. Well, at least in one of the battles that led to Naomi winning some kind of fancy rewards. She didn't really understand the greater purpose of these fights, unless the little trinkets were the main reason, but she did know that it seemed like a great deal of fun.
"Hey, Ieyasu~" She twirled her way over to the Eevee. They hadn't had much of a chance to talk, but she'd been around long enough to recognize that he was the one in charge. The fox twitched his ear in Jingū's direction, indicating that she had his attention, but kept his gaze kept straight ahead, for as much of his trainer's sake as his. "Do you know when I'll get the chance to participate in one of those fancy battles? I think everyone but me has had a chance to.""Fancy battles?" His head fell at a 45 degree angle as he tried deciphering Jingū's sentence. "Oh, you mean the trials." He brought his head back up, before giving a soft shrug. "I am not sure, that is something Naomi decides. It is based loosely on typing though, so I am sure you will have your chance, eventually." Jingū grew contemplative, quietly considering Ieyasu's words, before she nodded her head. "Okay! That works for me! Thank you~" Her answer received, she spun over to Moriyoshi.

"Mooooriii~" With a series of twirls and small bounds, Jingū appeared by Moriyoshi's side, her smile just a bit wider. "Guess what? Ieyasu says that I should be able to participate in one of those trials soon! Isn't that great? I'll get to be as strong as you!" Moriyoshi cast a glance upwards at his friend then opened his mouth, though a yawn preceded his words, "I think you're plenty strong as it is, Jingū." He paused, taking the time to look ahead and watch as they drew closer to the city, then continued with his train of thought. "But, I bet you'll dooo--aaahww--fine when you do participate." Man, as much as he liked his new evolution form, he sure did miss being carried everywhere; it made impromptu naps all the easier to take.
Jingū bobbed her head with a cheerful hum, particularly pleased with Moriyoshi's vote of confidence, before she reached a hand out to pat the top of the feline's head. He emitted a sound close to a grunt, both ears flicking, but didn't bother trying to remove the weight from his head. "What's it like having arms?" he asked suddenly, it was a topic he felt was appropriate to broach. What with her making use of them right then. "Oh, it's great!" Jingū chirped, and began waving wildly with her right arm. "I can touch all sorts of things now, and even give hugs!" The pokemon hadn't even realized how much she'd been missing out on until she'd evolved, now it felt as if a whole new world had opened up to her!

She supposed she could change it to something else later down the line if she thought of something that might fit a bit better. She didn’t seem too bad either, probably about on the same level as Eir… She was a bit too close for comfort, though, so he lowered his tail and slightly bared his teeth to signal her to back off a bit while trying not to come off as overly aggressive. ☆ ☆【Lukas narrowed his eyes slightly in thought as Maja attempted to entice him to play, unable to help but be a bit amused as he watched her dance back and forth, to and fro, and every other conceivable direction. He supposed it wouldn’t hurt to humor her for a bit, after sitting around in Kukui’s lab for however long he had a lot of pent up energy that was aching to be released. A sly grin crossing his face, he dropped down into a crouching position, tail waving expectantly in the air as he watched her movements. With a soft growl, he playfully pounced towards her as she made to move in the place he had expected her to. Maja trilled happily at Lukas’s acceptance, already hovering off along the beach with a series of happy chirps while the Litten chased after her. ”Play nice, both of ya!” Zoey called out to them, chuckling as she watched them play together, ”And stay where I can see ya!” She would greatly prefer to not have to pursue and try to find them if they wandered off somewhere out of her sight… ”Mind keepin’ an eye on them while I double check a few things, Eir?” she asked as she looked towards the Ninetales, chuckling a bit as the fox responded with a nod as she held a paw up to the top of her head in a sort of salute before moving to trail behind the two. Arceus, looking after these Pokemon was quite a bit harder than taking care of her little sister, then again Amalee didn’t act like most kids her age did… A soft sigh left the woman’s lips, she still felt really bad for taking off like this and leaving Amalee at home, the two of them were practically joined at the hip when the young girl stopped being scared to leave her own room and started accepting them as her new family. Zoey felt that Amalee really depended on her for a lot of things, though she hoped that her little sister would be fine with help from the rest of the family. If anything, Bernie would definitely be the most help to take care of the youngest Larsson sibling, since Russ and Bronte were usually out working at the garage most of the time. As for Castiel, the oldest adopted sibling, well… needless to say she certainly wouldn’t trust him first with looking after their youngest.

She doubted that anyone would’ve stolen anything from her cabin during the trip, but you could never be entirely sure… Tugging the strap of her bag off her shoulder, she placed it down in the grass nearby, not wanting to risk carrying a whole goddamn desert around with her by getting sand in it, and opened it up. Knife, check. Brass knuckles, check. MP3 player and radio, double check. Woodworking tools, check. Vape pen with juice, check. Snacks, check. Her ‘secret jar’ with all the needed materials, big fat check. And finally, her guns, checkarooni. Well… to be fair they weren’t necessarily hers. Russ had had these firearms from way back in his military days, and still kept them around the house. They had long since been decommissioned after the ‘glory days’ of their use, but Russ even kept ammunition for them in case they would be needed again as an ‘insurance policy’ of sorts. She should probably apologize to him sometime later, since she had kind of unlawfully taken the guns into her own possession for the sake of this trip behind his back. Still, she supposed it was far from the worst thing she’s done. She just really hoped she wouldn’t have to resort to using them, but after having her share of run-ins with all sorts of unsavory folk in the past it certainly wouldn’t hurt to have a reliably surefire way to defend herself.】☆ ☆
