"Are you ready to go now then?"

Olan only stayed focused on the house. He knew he had said that he only wanted to glance at it, but now he wanted to know what was inside. After all, he hadn't expected it to still be there. After all these years...

"Olan we can't just sit here."

Olan wasn't sure what had gotten into him, but he soon found that he was leaving the car and approaching the house. He didn't like that he was going back on his word, but there should be no harm. The house was small. He should be finished exploring quickly.

Marco got out and went after him. "Olan you can't do this. We need to leave." He sighed looking at the boy. "Five minutes ok?"

Olan nodded and quickly entered the house. It was dusty and a bit burnt inside, and pieces of furniture were scattered everywhere. Anxiously, he made his way through the house. The rooms were mostly empty, but there was still one where a single drawer still stood. He looked inside and found an old, dry lump of clay. It crumbled when he inspected

Inside, there was a silver locket. Olan's breath hitched and he quickly opened it. There was a picture of all-too familiar people. He knew who they were, but he could not remember anything else. Wet drops rolled down his cheeks.

Marco touched his shoulder.

"You ready to go?"

Olan had only looked away once Marco touched his shoulder, just in time to comprehend the question. Without hesitation, he nodded. He didn't want to stay any longer.

"Ok good."

He guided him out and back to the car. He rushed to get them back on track.

Olan watched as the house shrank out of sight. His tears had dried a short time ago, but he still felt very sorrowful. If only he could remember the people he cried for.

Marco didn't relax until they got across the border. He knew he would still never be safe for sure though.

Olan fidgeted, wondering if they had crossed into another country yet. Should he be excited? He was no longer a prisoner at the camp. He was finally free, and he was with someone he could trust. That had to be cause for celebration.

"Olan you know you no longer have to stay with me right? I don't want you thinking you're still my prisioner."

Olan had glanced at Marco just in time to interpret his statement, and he almost felt even worse. "You want me to leave?" he signed. "What if..." Perhaps he would have been eager to leave if Marco never took care of him, but the man was like family to him. The deaf boy was sure he didn't want to part ways.

"Oh no that's no what I meant. Olan I love having you around. That's why I've tried to look after you as best as possible all these years.
