Aiden led the way to the door and just as he was about to open it Louis grabbed him spinning him around. Aiden's first instinct was to grab his blade and plunge it into him but at the feeling of Louis' lips on his his hand stopped, hanging near his belt. Aiden fell into the kiss, kissing the other back unaware the other was fixing the laces of his tunic. Aiden couldn't help but blush as Louis opened the door for him. "Oh shove off." Aiden protested against the teasing.

Louis laughed very softly, but he let the captain leave the cabin first.
After all, it would see odd if he didn't hold the door.
Wouldn't it?
In truth, the prince had felt Aiden's movement toward his blade. And the fact that he had stopped the pirate from going through with an attack... well... that just gave Louis even more reason to want to corner the younger man.

Aiden rolled his eyes as Louis held open the door. "Come on." Aiden beckoned to the other, he led Louis up to the main deck where Bui was waiting with the maps laid out. Aiden was quickly viewing the maps. Already his mind was calculating where he was going to go from the information he had been told.

The prince calmly followed after Aiden, though he kept silent and to himself.
Bui did notice Louis looking at the maps in interest however...
"Fancy yourself a cartographer?" the large man asked.
Louis smirked, "I can read maps quite well. I... had hoped that this was why the captain recruited me."

Aiden cast a glance to Bui and Louis. "He says he wants to help then he can try. Now the woman said we needed to head far north almost as nearly north as possible." Aiden said pointing at the map. "We're here so we need to head towards Architeuthis."

Louis' gaze focused on the map intently for a few moments.
"How fast can this ship cruise without the oars? Because if we're heading north, and it takes more than a week... the northern ice flows will start to collide and we could get trapped in the frigid waters for months."

"With a good wind the ship will go about 30 knots." Aiden said. "Well stop in Architeuthis, before we go further north to pick up more supplies and warm clothes. It'll take us 2 days to reach Architeuthis."

Louis frowned, running lithe fingers over the map. "Then you're intending to keep us in the frozen north, even after the ice flows trap any ships in the northern straits, correct?"
If their ship was stuck up north, they would need a LOT of supplies before the spring thaw helped get the ice moving again.

"That is the idea yes. A trapped ship is easier to keep track of when we need to explore the ice to find what were looking for." Aiden said looking up. "Is that a problem for you because if it is, we'll just drop you in Architeuthis and you can find your way back home." Aiden said sternly even though he hoped Louis would stay with him.

The prince shook his head, "I am merely pointing out the danger of the venture, captain. You may lose a few men at best, more if the winter is harsher than anticipated. I simply want to make sure you are prepared for anything."
Of course Louis was going to go with him... what choice did the man have? He wasn't exactly carrying around money, so even if he jumped ship in port, he couldn't get back home easily. And telling someone who he was would only invite hostage situations or... well, death. Neither of those really sat well with the blond.

Aiden was quite surprised at Louis's comments, he hadn't thought about the dangers to the crew. Aiden cursed himself, he refused to harm the crew for his wants. "what do you purpose I do then, to prevent the loss of life. The woman I got the information from said the only time to find the place were looking for would be in the dead of winter." Aiden questioned.

Frowning, the prince considered this for a moment. "We're going to have to stock up on a LOT of things in port then." he replied honestly. "Firewood too, because I really don't want to start breaking the ship apart to prevent freezing to death. Lots of food provision, mainly things that won't need cooking... warm clothes, preferably furs, and plenty of blankets. We'll have to make sure that everyone's feet are wrapped tight too, in order to prevent frostbite."
Louis' gaze focused on Aiden. After all, the young man had spent a good portion of his life reading books.
He knew the dangers of a frozen trek.
"If we are to be heading out from the ship, and the ship is landlocked in the ice... it would be a good idea to have some form of transportation. I believe they may use sleds pulled by dogs in the north... so that is certainly something to look into."
In other words... this was going to be a rather expensive venture.

Aiden looked a bit worried by what Louis listed off. He had never been to the north or not as far as he was planning now. He had no idea what it would take and by the sound of it, it would take a lot more than he had thought. Aiden began to wonder if it was worth the cost he may have to pay. "Bui find Havoc and start making a list of things we'll need. I know hes been that far north with Larc at least once. If you have any questions ask Louis since he seems to know what we need. Other than that set a course for Architeuthis." Aiden ordered before turning on his heel and heading back to his cabin. He needed to think, he needed to evaluate if this was a good idea or was it really just a fool's errand like Louis had said. Was he willing to risk lives to prolong his own?

Sighing, Louis folded his arms over his chest, "The captain really had no clue of what it would take in the north, did he?"
All Bui answered with was an annoyed glare, before pushing past the blond and heading to do as Aiden had instructed.
Left to his own designs, Louis studied the map a while longer. He didn't doubt that Aiden had the funds for the mission. He simply didn't think the young man had the stomach for it.
Lives would be lost in a foolish attempt to prolong his own.
After the prince had given his captain a reasonable amount of time to think over his choices... Louis proceeded to the cabin and knocked on the door for entry.

Aiden wanted to collapse as soon as he hit the cabin and closed the door. He couldn't handle this, how was he supposed to make a choice like he was trying to. Potentially risk lives to save his own, or not and die in a horrible painful way. He wanted to yell and break something but he didn't. Instead he pounded his fist against the wall. Aiden was sitting on his bed with his head in his hands when he heard the knock on his door. "Enter." he called composing himself. "What can I help you with?" Aiden questioned seeing Louis enter his cabin.
