Yes they are. They are Japanese peasents who are skilled in unusual combat and stealth. They ambush, assassinate, and spy for money, safety etc. A samurai is a noble trained in hand to hand, swordsmanship, archery, the spear, caligraphy, diplomacy and are educated.

Nik, that could never work, priates are to drunk and sloppy to be ninjas, at least skilled ninjas.

I just watched a program called Deadliest Warrior where they compare weapons from warriors of different eras to see who would win in a fight, and believe it or a not a pirate could beat a Knight...so maybe a pirate could beat a ninja wink

ninjas pride themselves on stealth, and their weapons would kill pirates to fast. The pirates would die before they could fight.
